@giftfish - wonderful job to you and all other statictians that worked on the survey. I noticed right away that the "cure OPTION" was being answered by more than those that romanced him; too bad there wasn't a way to truly highlight that fact. Not uncommon for people to just see the percentages and not the total number of survey respondants (vs respondants of those that romanced him...). Such is the natural of surveys though. Hopefully BW will examine your hard work, and it is examined by those familiar with survey numbers/precentages/and other statistical measures. ;) Great comments by so many (you even highlighted one of my comments....*giggle*).

@everyone else - hi. <3

<le ridges>

Yeah, that's in part why I  put up a post highlighting the fact that it wasn't required that you romance an LI  in order to answer their questions, using Jacob as an example.  It's important to looking at the result for all LIs, including Thane.

Yeah, I saw that.Image IPB

**EDIT for TOP**

Thane: Siha, that security camera is tracking me.
Shepard: *closes her Omni Tool quickly*  Hmmm?

Oh we are on the topic of the clearly sexist one sided sh!t in ME3. Did I mention that I always felt Ash was the type of chick who wouldn't back down and stuff? Did I mention her lame confrontation scene felt OCC for her, I wanted her to b!tch slap dude Shep and leave him.

On the flip side, Kaidan seems the type to go begging FemShep to take him back, because he's just seems that type.

So much in ME3 rubbed me wrong,

Heheheh, Utaker Miranda didn't rub me wrong that way, in fact my first ME2 playthrough after I got the near kiss scene and figured out that was as far as I'd get with Samara in that playthrough (I'm bullheaded I thought I picked a wrong dialogue option at some point.) I did a hit and run thing with Miranda, and well she didn't rub me wrong that way at all.

Oh more Thane brb with some pics.

Hey, question, since Thane is the only other overtly religious LI in ME, do your Shepards tend to be religious too? Or are they just more understanding of Thane's religious beliefs?

I ask because I have a religious Shepley, so I'm curious how you all did it.

Also, how awesome was Chris L'Etoile for giving characters well-rounded spiritual sides?

I'm a Christian so...most of my sheps are religious! ^^

But I think they made it so that Shep could understand his beliefs!
And I think L'Etoile did a fabuous job on the characters he wrote...other than that jerk they hired who dont know jack crap about Thane!

And while we are on the topic of sexist....that's what BIoware is ...SEXIST!!!!!

...there I said it...again!

EDIT: Btw...hello coldi! *waves*  Image IPB

@krukow - L'Etoile most certainly is a fantastic character writer (hello Ashley and Thane...*grin*). Very interesting question; I am not religious and my "spiritual" side is more just in wonder at the grand universe we live in, and all creatures great and small (didn't mean to quote a book title, but felt it apt). ;)
Most of my Shepards (including my broSheps) are very understanding of both Thane's and Ashley's spiritual/religious natures. They tend to hold to the idea that everyone should feel comfortable in whatever they believe in. I do have one Shepard that is very jaded, and took a more contrary view to both Ashley and Thane's religious beliefs (but again, that was in character for that Shep). Interestingly enough, I found that she liked Ash and Thane MORE because they followed their own path, and didn't kowtow to her. Made them seem all the more stronger.

@gears - Where are my Thane pics........waiting...........Fine. A trade then; I'll give you a Samara pic for a Thane one, agreed??

@Roxy - *waves back enthusiatically!* (oww! Carpal Tunnel......) :D

My Shepard wasn't very religious. She mostly believed in the goodness of people and the Right Thing To Do. She was very moral, but not very religious.

On L'Etoile, his work = 100% Über-Awesome.

That guy is responsible for many of my "fav" moments in Mass Effect 1 + 2.
Sir Isaac Newton anyone? The ads on the Citadel in ME2? Or, "I remember me" in ME1? <3

On religion and Shep:

My Thanemancer/Siha Ivy Shepard is agnostic initially.

She considers Thane's religion fascinating though, and in time*, she gradually adopts that religion too.

*Note: This is over a time period longer than the games. I guess I should add that for the record, my headcanon disavows ME3 events, so Thane=Alive.

That said, I headcanon a good chunk of my Sheps are religious to some extent (Some more so than others); One is Catholic Christian, one is Lutheran Christian, one is Sunni Muslim, one is Jewish, two are Mahayana Buddhists. And then one of them is a downright Atheist and another is Ignostic.

Religion (or lack of it) is just one thing I sometimes add for additional "flavor" in my characters, my Sheps included. And the extent varies, some are more religious and others are more followers of the traditions associated with respective religion rather than the religion itself.

Personally I'm agnostic, but I've always found myself fascinated by religion, of both the "modern day" and "historical" ones.

@RShara
Ohhh "smile" eh? :3
Wouldn't mind seeing a big "grin" in that case! #IfYouKnowWhatIMean Image IPB

*Stares at monitor* <3

Why do I have this sudden desire to mess around with the normal map* and *ehem* enhance things?

#GutterMindYep

*The normal map additionally defines the "shape" on a 3d model. (It's technically an illusion, the actual model's shape is the same, the normal map just "adds" shape to the textures)

Gah, I'm not making sense with my 3d tech-babble am I? Oh well I tried... :P

Brb, messing around in 3dsMax! :3

Makes sense to me! I spent the longest time trying to put a different style outfit on Thane (or remove it altogether ;) ) but the stupid straps and things are part of the actual mesh instead of being normal maps. So I can texture his chest but you can still see the darn straps!

Be careful, because if some type of map isn't used in default ME, then the game engine ignores it, even though it's there...and even if you tell it to use the darn map! (found that out trying to make the red shades transparent)

Yeah I know, I mostly don't try to bring what I edit into the game itself, I just render and composite things within 3dsMax.

For example, the red shades on his alt. outfit, I went into the mesh itself and deleted the 3d models "elements" that made up the shades. It is possible to use an opacity mask too, but meh, I just deleted it instead.

I am hoping to brush up on my primitive 3d modeling skills. (Which I haven't done in uhm...4 years? *Welp*) And as such, develop the skills to manipulate the model itself and then make UV-maps textures and etc..
So..who knows? Maybe eh? ;)

@giftfish has a good point about being polite when tweeting or communicating with Bioware. I don't do twitter if I can help it. :) But I still think you could say if Thane is such a special character, why does so much of the player base think that his storyline was handled poorly. I think there is really a large part of the player base, both male and female, who just didn't like his storyline or changes in character from 2 to 3.

I agree Askeebe.  I think many were dismayed at his portrayal in me3.  Here is hoping BW remedies that.

Oh, and as for the Tweets earlier from the ME Tweet Factory (gotta keep those 'klout' scores up....).  That sounded like a 'canned' response, and nothing more.  Besides, we are not suggesting they remove what was already presented (we understand the implications of such a move, and would never expect it).  Instead, we want a new path that can be taken by players who wish it.  And no, there is not a single need to make it a "paragon" or "renegade" option in the slightest. *coldi points yet again to her DLC idea....such self promotion.  Sheesh!*  Image IPBImage IPB

It wouldn't even feel like the d**k thing to do, if one chose to let things play out as they do right now, in the current state of the game.  Just sayin'.......

No Deal Coldi, photobucket was being lame today

Here a sh!t ton of them here, because Photobucket is being lame and won't let me access it.

Also RShara that pic with the dialogue option had me busted over in laughter before I even read the rest of the reactions.

As for religious Sheps, my Shep really wasn't very relegous but then he ended up dead, and so he sort of developed a spiritual side to him, It's mostly Thane's fault for saying stuff and what not.

In return how about this!

Samara is Beautiful!

And look I'm the kind of person if you ****** me off I show it! So maybe it's a good thing I don't have twitter lol! I see nothing wrong with being polite but also just get to the point and tell/show them the facts!

Actually I would rather we throw a little anger in there too cause they did us wrong and I see no reason to not show it.... but that's my opinion! :P

EDIT: Let's show some Thane also! ^^

Good question! The shep I paired with Thane is not spiritual at all, I remember how she unintentionally offended ash during their first conversation.

“When your number’s up it’s up”

She doesn’t mean to say things like this to be callous , she cared about what happened to Jenkins but believed life as a marine was just a numbers game . I played her as the stoic soldier type that hid her survivors guilt well. She rejects the idea that she was spared on Akuze for a “reason” or that something benevolent looked after her but not her comrades.  She’d much rather accept that it was luck that she was alive not that she was more deserving of living than other people. The world makes more sense to her if it's this unfair but unthinking thing.

That’s why I loved pairing her up with Thane ^_^ Despite their views clashing they manage to complete eachother. But he really did annoy her so much at first. Especially that conversation about how he wasn’t responsible if others used his body as a weapon.  Boy was she irked when she heard that ha ha.

@krukow

I don't have any religious shepards, they all tend to be respectful of others beliefs and never insult them but in my headcannon they have very different outlooks. I like the idea that my colonist shepard comes from a more religious background, but turned her back after losing everything and is probably atheist. The others I would consider agnostic. I really wish we could have explored the impact of Shepards death on her beliefs.

Yeah, I  agree about the ME Tweet Factory.  While the communication is nice, I don't really view tweets from them as "meaning much" per se.  Not in the sense that most fans would want their tweets to mean something, anyway.  I think more people would appreciate real, honest, candid communication with devs, though that would probably require more than just tweets, lol.

I'm similar to Coldi on this.  My Shepards are never "religious", but are not judgemental and believe that everyone has a right to their own beliefs.  They never take issue with Ashley's religious banter, but they'll come down on her for her anti-alien stance in ME1.  Tolerance, acceptance, and non-judgement are values that my Shepards tend to hold to.
