And I'm dropping by quickly after resting up from a migraine.

(Ugh, my meds did nothing to help/stop it this time)

Psst...I brought a shiny!

[Edit] Gah! What? Top again? Oh well, re-posting the pic and my comment on it then.
Because "Tempting Thane with a red rose" can't be obnoxious now can it? :3

Posted Image

Now, who could resist taking his hand? Posted Image I'd reach out for his hand, but Ivy would kill me if I tried.

P.S

The original image is 1400x900, so if anyone wants to use it as a wallpaper, just let me know and I'll find someplace for a full-sized version.

And all this talk of food...Hmm...headcanon fun-time!

What food would Thane like/dislike?

(Gotta think on this one myself. Hmm...fanfic possibilites! Woot!)

And since we have a Garrusmancer in our midst I can't resist sharing this tidbit:

Something hilarious just happened on my ME1 PT with mum;

*Goes to Council meeting about Saren*

Her: Wow, that guy is evil. A cunning evil one too. And the Councilors are morons! >:(

*We're told to find Garrus*

Her: That guy? He seemed nice. He'll probably be helpful!

*Takes out Fists thugs, Garrus apologizes for firing while Michel was a hostage*

Her: He seems like an honorable sort. He wants to join us? Cool. A crime-fighting turian paired with humanity's greatest marine! Yeah, I'm cool with this!

Me: So who's going into the squad?

Her: I have to choose?

Me: Yep.

Her: Hmm... This task doesn't seem like it's fitting for a die-hard solider, so Kaidan and Garrus. It was Garrus' investigation after all. Besides having a cop on the team is cool.

*And we're told to find Wrex/Tali. We go to the C-Sec elevator to pick up Wrex*

And prepare for glitch-fest; Kaidan gets stuck in the elevator door! XD

Her: What? Kaidan got stuck in the door? What an idiot!

*So Shepad and Garrus were alone in the elevator*

Her: Look, Garrus is not that stupid! At least he actually got in the elevator! See, I told you that's a good team; The resolute commander and the savvy detective!

(I nearly dropped my controller. o.O...Fangirling over Garrus mum? I could barely contain my laughter considering ME2. Oh dear, those words mom...you have no idea...XD It seems like a challenger has appeared! Who will win? Thane or Garrus? Once it's ME2 time, we'll know!)

*We meet Wrex*

Her: The enemy of my enemy is a friend. Cool. Can we keep him?

Me: Yes you can.

Her: Hah! Now we have a bounty hunter! The galactic crime-fighting trio! Fist is going to have some serious trouble on his hands!

(This playthrough is way more fun than I expected. Mum's comments are hilarious! Posted Image)

Yeah, I still don't understand. Biscuits aren't soft and fluffy bread rolls. They're hard and rigid and covered in chocolate, and sometimes are hallucinatory. Like Thane.

Yeah, joking aside, I still don't get it. :(

@Emerald. Aw. Migraine. Poor thing. here, have a cold glass of milk. It always helps me after I wake up from my migraine-med-induced-rest. And have some chocolate too. Unless chocolate's one of your triggers in which case I'll just get this out of here..... Okay.

That render is absolutely... unf. I did reach out to take his hand, I actually did. I got halfway to the screen before I realised it and had to stop myself before I broke a nail on my monitor. ^^

And of COURSE we want it for a wallpaper. Just so happens that I'm actually looking for a new wallpaper right at this moment. :)

As for food, I think Thane would take an Epicurean delight in the simpler dishes Kahje had to offer, but he wouldn't be afraid to try new things.

And you're mother is a Garrus fangirl? *falls off chair* But... but.... haven't you told her about Thane? But your Mum? She sounds awesome! Tell me when you get to Me2. i'll try to fly over and be there in time for the Thane introduction! *squee*

That does sound like so much fun though! I really do wish I could do that with my Mum, but then she isn't really into science fiction either. So she probably wouldn't enjoy it.

@myth

Thanks dear!

Luckily, chocolate is not one of my triggers. Red wine, lavender, high air pressure (Thunderstorms), and exposure to intense sunrays are. And we just had a thunderstorm in my area last night :/

Oh, and full-size is here:

http://emeraldfern.d...t=10:1347952198

Yeah, I was surprised at mum's fascination with Garrus, since I didn't take her for liking aliens actually.
(She is usually much more interested in fantasy and historical dramas, so sci-fi is very "new" to her).

But now she's all: "Oh look, an alien! What's it called?" She even asked after talking to an elcor if you'd get an elcor teammate at some point! XD

She also has serious girl-crush on Fem-Shep. She goes "Yay! Strong female protagonist! She verbally kicked Harkin in his nuts! Ha!"

As for Thane...She has seen an image of his face (it was an image I used as a reference pic),
I asked her what her first impression was.

Her answer?

She looked at pic for a long time before saying:

"He...he looks sad. It's as if he's carrying some kind of tragedy deep down and is trying to either hide or forget it. But, he looks gentle, calm; Like he's this person silently watching you and looking out for you."

I asked her what about his appearance made her think this:

"His eyes. Something about his eyes are saying it."

O.o She's so close! I can barely hold my tongue in check.
I don't want to spoil events for her before she gets to see them firsthand in ME2.

Actually, I'm definitely certain that she's going to like Thane alot. Will she romance him? That's more difficult to say. Garrus has certainly stolen Kaidan's limelight in ME1 that's for sure.

Besides Thane and Garrus, I get the feeling she's going to like Jack, Liara, Miranda, and Samara.
(Oh boy, Miranda's LM will be a difficult one for her, certain aspects of Miranda's arc will hit a bit close to home for her)

You're not missing anything. Biscuits are not my favorite. They are pretty common in america.
I'd rather have toast or cornbread.

How did we end up talking about biscuits anyway?

Now you've made me hungry. I haven't had buscuits and gravy in a long time. Probably because I'm not crazy about buscuts.
I will leave the eating them off Samara to you.
How is your commission going?

I think I need to give her more feels to be motivated probably should motivate me more to finish my reworking and revamping of my fics I got like a buttload of stuff unfinished and just need to get off my butt and add the last minute finishing and polishing. Plus I totally saw something from her on tumblr saying something about finding more Samara fics. Which apparently there is a lack of and I'm apparently one of the few writers who has such tallent and nails things down with Samara. Butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt I'm a nobody and I'm also a prefectionist and my fics have growen in size and scale and it's like I took the limits off because as I've learned they were all self imposed by my subconsisous and hmmmmmmmmmmmm Ace Frehley you sly devil your quote from your book all limits are self impossed seems to ring true here.  Anyway I'm really tried and off to bed sorry if this don't make any sense I may just look at it in the morning and be like WTF? Or I may look at it in the morning and be like hhhhhhhmmmmm ya know sometimes my tired mind says the best stuff and speaks more truth then I do when I'm fully awake. Goodnight all

Your mother is awesome.  And clearly has good taste ^_^

Let us know how it goes down when she gets to ME2.  Though for her sake, you might wanna clue her into the mess that is ME3 if she gets that far.  For me, bad elements of video games always sting a little less if they're spoiled first.

Biscuits and gravy: a traditional breakfast served in the US, primarily in the southeast, though it can be found in other regions, as well.

The biscuit itself is a bit "heavy" (not light like a croissant), with a thick crust on the outside and a bit soft and crumbly on the inside. They can also be used in place of a bagel or "english muffin" served with jam, or used as a "roll" to serve with lunch or dinner. Like anything else made of dough, the biscuit itself doesn't have much flavor, and like Coldi said, can be served with sweet or savory accompaniments -- hence the gravy or jam.

I  LOVE biscuits, but not the gravy, ew.  Veggievore, here.

That is....

Eeeew!

Vegetarian, too, here. Gah, that looks like baby vomit mixed up with rotten prawns and mushrooms and tripe.

I'm going to go try to finish drawing my nebula. It's been very difficult, but does not make me as sick as that gump in that photo there.

Save me, Thane:

LOL.

Funny -- that's always been my reaction to biscuits and gravy, as well!

As for biscuits and gravy. It is a common American dish (though they might serve it elsewhere as well).

It's pretty common in the South, but certainly not universal in the US.  Pretty much nonexistent in the northern states and along the west coast.  I'm a California girl, and I had no clue what they were until my friend from Florida enlightened me a few months ago.

True that it is much more a staple in the South, but West Coast woman right here (Portland, OR)Posted Image.  My family owns a lodge/spa on the Central Coast of Oregon.  We serve breakfast to our guest, and biscuits and gravy are available twice a week; quite popular.  There is even a small chain of restaurants in Oregon called "Biscuits"Posted Image.  Southern/Pacific Northwest fusion is also very popular right now in Portland.  It's a trend that comes up a couple times a decade.

But, since I finally caught up with all the posts, I see that biscuits and gravy are clearly covered...HA!Posted Image

@Emerald - Lovely render.  And yes, I most certainly would take his hand.Posted Image

Need more coffee.....

Oooh I might want to write something about Mordin (it said in the blog you can also write about a character you would like to romance, right?). I'm a bit unsure about my English skills and all, though... But if you would like a Mordin related text, I'd be happy to give it a try. ^_^ So, if I was to write something, would there be a deadline of some sort? :)

No immediate deadlines, nope.  Just make sure you take a good look at the post that itemizes the criteria before you submit :)

It doesn't look that bad. I've seen worse looking food.
It can be heavy though.

I'm not even close to being a vegetarian. I love meat too much.

Hmm.  Maybe the next time my boyfriend and I head up to Ashland, we'll give the stuff a try.  Maybe.  It's kinda funny-looking, but my family's Mandarin Chinese, so I've definitely seen far weirder food

And because I'm the master of segues, what do you guys think drell food is like?  I always imagined it to be more meat than grains/plants given Rakhana's climate, but maybe they've taken to seafood in the last few centuries living with the hanar.  Now I'm imagining Thane educating Shep on the finer points of sushi :D

@Sable - I love Ashland (care for a glass of Lithia water?). Do go for the Festival, or travel off season.....you can get some good deals on some of the off season plays. :)

I too always imagined that they would have a relatively high protein diet. Could see vegetable matter being consumed when available. Being on Kajhee would probably require an adjustment to diet, and seafood makes the most sense. Nekkid sushi and Thane......mmmmmmm. Somebody draw that quick!

I dunno.  I love sushi, but the texture is weird enough without adding drell hallucinations to the mix :P

Shep: Thane, the squid have come for their revenge!
Thane: *facepalm*
Shep: They attack your insides from the afterlife!
Thane: ...siha, why don't you have a nice bowl of miso soup instead?
Shep: That's just what the squid WANT you to think.
