Well, the prayer scene is not exactly the same... if you romance Thane when Shepard is reading she looks at Thane at the line "the lover never leaves", but if you didn't romance him Shepard looks at him at "the hungry never starves"... BIG THING!!! you can't say it's the same!! ¬¬

@Gears -- Totally agree with you; and Emerald too for that matter!

I just don't want us to come across as thinking other LIs don't "deserve" more content -- b/c we are so wrapped up with Thane/Jacob/Samara etc. It makes us look bad. Many, many players are pissed "at Liara" for having so much content, and feel that A- she shouldn't get anymore, and B - her fans don't deserve any more.

My point is that the 2 aren't mutually exclusive. More/fixed Thane content is good, and more romance-specific Liara content I'm sure would also be appreciated by her fans (of which I am not one for the record, lol). If BW would decrease her habit of "friend-zoning" a romanced Shep, as well as reduce her friend-specific content, that would likely be appreciated by many fans, too.

Big whoop. One look while the LI is DYING. Oh wow that is so romantic and satisfactory! Your LI dies but you got "one look" while he gasped for air... After all he did during the entire game was talk about dying. Soo cool, soo well written.. NOT!

I have to agree with Ren here...doesn't matter much that one little line is different,Thane dies and that's all he gibbers about,no I love you's ,no shepard crying if you romanced him..and the BIGGEST let down...no option to save him! Image IPB

And y'kow since we are talking about Liara a bit here....I remember when I was playing my Thane romanced shep and I get Liara talking to her *coughs* father? She says something about "Yeah I see the way you look at each other...surprised neither one panties haven't caught on fire" ...or something along those lines....I'm sitting there like "Whoa my sheps panties don't catch fire unless she is looking at Thane,Thank you very much"! Oh no, I forgot about this, yes, it's very annoying. Three playthroughs, none of them with Shepard romancing Liara and still that line appears. Seriously I hate that. It's not Liara's fault but still, I have enough of her. My Shep loves only Thane!

Next Monday's Musing on Cosmic Love will have a theme similar to what everyone is talking about (regarding wishing/wanting more content for your LI of choice). I say everybody voice what they would like, support each other, and see what happens. Maybe something, maybe nothing. But many voices is better than a few voices. ;)

So LET LOVE REIGN!! <3

EVERYONE Guess who's doing a Samara thing for Cosmic Love? Come on guess? Who's the only regular in here with blue balls:devil::innocent: because no loving for Samara:unsure::(

I shall try and keep it professional okay I shall keep it professional, I don't want to appear as some lonely dude so down on his luck he sits around furiously spanking his monkey over Samara.

I am capable of writing very professional pieces and somehow very inspiring to. I am at times a very thoughtful, smart, and crafty person, with a knack for wordsmithing. :DB);)

Who knows maybe once my Samara piece is published I'll win people over in someway or another, be it in the form of people discovering and seeing what I fell in love with about Samara:wub: or people reasses their stand point on her character and  be like "hmmm ya know I think he has a point." Winning over more people to the Samaritans fan club. Or even maybe get such great feedback from my thing and it's so well recieved I exploded into tears of joy, and maybe I'd be able to write more stuff for the Cosmic Love site. :o Oh dear look I'm already viewing this from a very professional angle, and heh I feed off the positive feedback I get.

What was the topic here again? I just sort of took it and hijacked this thread. I could put this in the Samara thread but that place is soo very depressing

In short, the blame is not on the characters but rather the writers.

This.  So much this.  Kaidan and Liara used to bother me too in ME3 (and god do I still LOATHE what Ash becomes in ME3), but it's really not their fault.  And I've come to really adore ME3 Kaidan, though I vastly prefer him as a friend.

I think it comes down to what gears was saying--a problem of uniqueness.  Liara's relationship with Shep doesn't feel unique; it's more-or-less the same dialogue and tone no matter what you do.  The same problem, though the opposite amount of attention from the devs, afflicts Thane, Jack, Jacob, and Samara.

I'd say Miri gets it a little better here for difference between friendship and romance dialogue; Garrus, Tali, and the VS certainly get it better.

@gears - Your blue-balled Jake Shepard, and my "not gettin' any snogging" Abel Shepard, need to go get a lot of booze together! They can drink and sing dirges for the loss of much Samara opportunity. :'(

Looking forward to your Samara piece, ya horny lil' mouth breather! :D :D

@Sable - uniqueness is what helps us to RP the connections we have with these characters (i.e. LI's, friendly/not friendly squadmate relationships). You stated it very well.

@coldi & gears

Can Kim join Jake and Abel? Her non-import status coupled with her worry for Mr Taylor has left her antsy.
She was supposed to be hitting drinks with him but his whereabouts are unknown.

(Oh, Kim, my Renegon Solider, ignorance is bliss dear).

Also, Malik wants to join; he's rather blueballed due to no Justicar lovin'. Oh poor fellow... :'(

And it's time to dive back into ME1.

It's time to make acquintances with Nassana Dantius, and her sister, Dahlia Dantius.
And then it's off to Feros or Noveria. "GoGoGo"

I don't think the fact that we are only concerned about Thane and the rest of the ME2 crew makes us look bad. They are the ones who need more content and we all just want that for them.

Liara's fans have nothing to worry about anyway. She will always get more content because she Bioware's favorite.
I just wish them to give Thane and the rest of the ME2 crew more as well.

Has Bioware said anything at all in all this time about if they are going to fix anthing dealing with the characters in ME2?

That one is a bug iirc. Aethyta is not supposed to say that* unless you're romancing Liara.

Umm yeah almost all the Aethyta dialogue is rigged and assumes players are bonking Liara. I remember the leaked scripts and it's so sad because Aethyta had great dialogue even if Liara wasn't romanced. Her dialogue was epic. But the finale product ending up with only the conversastions for romanced Liara in the game. I don't know if anyone has ever find other files and what not, I know on PC for ME2 you get a gibbed save editor and can switch things up to see all the different dialogue but I have yet to hear if Aethyta has any dialogue for un-romanced Liara.

If she don't then yeah this is clear proof and blatently clear that certain people involved with ME were ramming their LI down our throats and trying to force her on us. Bassically saying here this is who you are supossed to romance no matter what.

Also yeah all Sheps can join in the drinking theirselves to death party no matter wha, we won't discrimanate,

Ah, found some info.. I knew I wasn't imagining things when I thought that a dev mentioned it could be a glitch:

Golden Owl wrote...

Is it a glitch with Aethyta?....Aethyta goes off at my Shep about him being Liara's boyfriend and he doesn't set her straight....my Shep has never been in a relationship with Liara, he chose the friend option in ME1...in fact he is very single, has dodged all the relationships....So does anyone know what the story is there?...Glitch?

Sylvf wrote...

I actually wrote every Liara conversation on the Citadel except the one with Aethyta (which I thought was a hoot). I’ll inform her writer about it, though. Sounds like a bug.

Also I'm curious are you the one making my Thane plushie? I just sent some bp to someone across the pond to make one for me and I think her name is Emerald..just curious! Image IPB

I am having such a hard time of making up my mind on who I want Jack to romance...it's driving me nuts....I guess I'm gonna have to flip a coin lol! Idk I am thinking about having him wait till ME 2 to romance someone....

Ugh, replaying ME1 and ME2 for the first time since I played ME3. And pfft... Bioware has made me almost avoid Thane in ME2. I usually run to recruit him first. Now he's the last. I'll probably end up spamming through his conversations too.

I'm not sure what that says about me as a person, but what happens to him in ME3 has made me avoid him in the second game. :( I just can't stand knowing what he'll face later... even when this playthrough isn't even supposed to romance him!

(Heck still havn't touched my Thane Shep since I heard about ME3) >.>

We haven't heard anything yet, just some positive feedback from a couple of the Community BSN folks, and a bit from the general Mass Effect Twitter.

And, yes, JECW, being a part of the Romance DLC initiative, I do hear "things" about us Thane fans, and no, they aren't all positive (and no, I won't say who, where, when, or what, lol).  It's all about perception, which is greatly affected by how we choose our words when we communicate about Thane.  It's why I will occasionally make comments like these with the intention of clarifying certain aspects and prodding us Thane folks into keeping our attitudes as positive as we can.  Hm -- I hope that doesn't come off condescending, b/c that's not how I mean it :/

With that in mind, we and Thane actually have many supporters out there--if the survey comments are any indication--which I  think they are :)

Check this out....

http://arstechnica.c...classic-pc-rpg/

$1 million in 24 hours.  RPG fans are hardcore.

There was some dude who was trolling the RomDLC thread yesterday, scoffing at the fact that we were refering to Mass Effect as an RPG, insinuating that it is more of an action game.

The truth, of course, is that it is both.  An action game and an RPG.  The problem is that it has steadily become more "action-oriented" with each release.  Then, of course, BW provided the option in ME3 to basically turn off all RPG  elements, and make it into almost a pure action game.  I often wonder how much of the forum vitrol here has to do with players that are playing the game from an action/shooter perspective butting heads with those of us playing from an  RPG one. To them the "romance"  and "relationships" stuff is minor -- and just a "dating sim".

II really think that BW shoots themselves in the foot by trying to make the game both things at once, b/c they can't make both camps happy.  In all likelihood they'll end up making the action/shooter folks happy at the cost of making the RPG  fans irate.  Not such a great idea considering how loyal and willing to spend money we are....at least according to this article!

A  bit off topic, but I  was pretty impressed by the video inthe article, and thought I'd share with all the lovely folks in this thread.  Can't say ladies....Gears and stuff <3

I am so excited for Project Eternity it's not even funny.  And it probably won't even be out for another two years or so.  DA3 will have to tide me over.

I'm finally to ME2 with my ManShep, but I was so reluctant to leave ME1.  Clunky gameplay aside, it had such a nice feel, and that little spark of excitement and exploration.  I even miss the freaking Mako.  At least with the vehicle exploration sections I felt less like a hamster in a very elaborate cage.

@gears - Very nice little fiction there. Good job. I appreciate the concept and especially the good grammar. :)

Re all the discussion about shep having the same experience with characters if they're LI vs friends, I think that's more of BW writing themselves into a corner. They did 2 games and created a lot of branches in the story. With ME3, they created even more story with exponentially more conversation possibilities based on previous choices, and LI or friends. I remember a BW staffer saying the amount of recorded lines was incredibly more than in ME2 and that's -with- a lot of the same conversation choices. They might just have exceeded their ability to write a good RPG 3rd story.

I know what you mean.

I had forgotten that feeling when you're driving around like an idiot trying to kill Thresher Maws.
I went "Oh, a Thresher Maw...this going to be easy. I'll just do a "hit and run" with the Mako's rockets."
Wait, where did it go? Wait it's right behind me! Hang on, I'll just-..*Critical Mission Failure* Fffuu!

Eh, Thresher Maws aside, yeah, I kinda miss exploring planets. All of those gorgeous vistas..
For some reason though, I liked the Hammerhead better than the Mako; probably because it's more mobile.
Sure, it goes down quickly, but it sure is fun to jump around the map. The Mako's boosters lacked the same Oomph imo.

A short update on ME1 then:

(We only did side-missions today. Feros and Noveria will get a visit tomorrow)

*We dealt with Dahlia*

Her: Wha..Wait, that was Dahlia?

Me: Yep

Her: She was leading the pirates all along?

Me: Yes.

Her: Hmm...did Nassana know?

Me: We'll find out soon.

*Reaches Nassana*

Her: Sheesh! She's rather callous isn't she...Zero remorse and a lying ice queen to boot. Besides Saren, this is probably one of the more detestable characters so far. But..wait...Shepard can't go after her? Whaa?

Me: No. We can't.

Her: But...she's an evil lady! >:(

Me: Well, she'll find Karma to be a b*tch eventually.

Her: I hope so. If she's ruthless enough to kill her own sister, who knows how far she will go?

Me: Good question.

*We also visited the planet of Omtaro and met indigenous life-forms*

Her: Eeeeeeek!!! :o

Me: What?

Her: Tha...That's a giant, creepy bug thing! Image IPB

Me: Oh it's harmless.

Her: Are...are you sure?

Me: Yes.

Her: Phew!

*A bit later...*

Her: Aww, look at that...What are those?

Me: Space Cows.

Her: They are cute :3

Me: I guess.

Her: Wait a minute, why is there a counter in the negative above the radar....?

Me: Hmm...Oh, it seems we are losing credits.

Her What? But how? Huh...the counter disappeared...Oh, hi again Space Cow! Aren't you all cute..Wait a minute..."Shifty looking Space Cow"?! It... it stole Shepard's credits! Give'em back you lil blighter!

Me: Nah, it doesn't feel like it.

Her: Hm...perhaps a well placed shot with the Sniper Rifle will change it's mind? Image IPB

Me: That would be Renegade. Image IPB

Her: Crap.Image IPB

@Roxy

Nope, that's gotta be somebody else...
