Call me pesimistic, but I hadn't too much hope in Thane developing for ME3. At last I try to not have it. Why? Becouse a few things. First thing is, that we will get new companions again. Well at last we know one-Vega, and it looks like for now he is No. one for BioWare. Second thing is a feeling, that BioWare is heavy focused on VS. They are talking about " cheating" things a lot, about Kaidan/Ash importance in ME3, that theirs relationship with Shepard will have heavy impact on story...I know, maybe it's becouse  Horizon mistake, but it still worry me. Third thing is, that when we started to talk about companions from ME2 in ME3, BioWare told us, that now companions will work differently than usual, so maybe all of them but Garrus will be only available for certain part of game. Will BioWare find a time between developing new companions ( and new LI, becouse we will have it) , s/s romances, Kaidan/Ash issues make less popular characters come back in really epic fashion? I want so badly be wrong, and Im still waiting for any news about Thane..but still without reason ( similar to Jacob, Miranda, Tali, Jack fans)
 

You still have to remember that not everyone romanced Kaidan or Ashley, and we know at least one of them is dead in everyones playthrough. Out of all of my playthroughs I only romanced Kaidan once, and Ashley is dead in all of them. They also are not the most popular characters in the game. Why would bioware give them so much focus. What about Tali and Garrus who are the most popular characters. There fans are going to be very upset if they get less content. Especially Garrus who didn't have much in ME2. If anyone were to get more contant it would probably be Liara. She is the only one who can't die, and she's biowares favorite. I wouldn't even worry about cheating. If LotSB is any indication it probably won't amount to much.

I definitely think Garrus, Tali and Liara will be getting some decent face time in ME3 - especially Garrus becuase of everyone's love for him.  I like him as a character for sure- he's witty and very well written, but he's just not LI material for my Sheps.  They are super close friends and she doesn't want to mess that up.  Besides, as soon as Thane drops out of that shaft and speaks, she's a goner!

We can just hope and hope and hope for more Thane goodness in ME3!!

Garrus also didn't get much when it came to romantic content.  After a while he just keeps talking about calibrations. I understand what you are saying about not romancing him. I do have one shepard that did his romance, so I would like to see what happens with them. For my Shepard it was after I talked to Thane. After that there was no turning back. I knew then he was going to be my favorite.

I really do hope they have something good for Thane in ME3.

Thane is a very popular character, he's just without very loud fans. I firmly believe Bioware knows this. Just because fans for other characters tend to be very aggressive in showing how much they love their characters, doesn't mean those characters are going to get the most face time and others will be forgotten.

Thane's won some best character awards here and there. I know he beat out even the guy from Red Dead Redemption in one of them. I think in the IGN one. From what I've seen on youtube, people use him a lot as a squadmate. He's got some of the best skill sets, great for gun power, and tends to endure longer than other squadmates. He's a popular enough romance that I've seen a lot of fans are torn between Thane and another. Garrus seems to stand out the most as the "competition/love triangle angst" from what I've seen in fan art and fiction. Kaidan comes in pretty close otherwise. In the few fan fics I've seen about Jacob, people will play off the little head butt they had in the beginning. I don't think I've ever seen Garrus vs Kaidan, or Kaidan vs Jacob or Garrus vs Jacob. Don't hold it against me if you have seen it otherwise, but it seems like it's always Thane creating the love triangle.

I'm sure Bioware is cooking up something great for Thane.

I'm optimistic and believe what Casey said, that all love interests will get equally good amounts of content come ME3. How they're going to do that remains anyone's guess.

I'm actually hoping for quite a few of my romances to end on a high note in ME3. Aside from Thane, Kaidan is my favorite male love interest and I am looking forward to how things are going to play out there. Same goes for Ashley with my MaleShep. Even if they don't get enough screen time, if the quality of the content is satisfying, so be it.

^ If there is a lot of Thane in ME3 it will be worth the wait and the surprise. I love surprises. But if there isn't a lot of him it will really suck because I hate getting my hopes up.

They have confirmed they will all be back as squadmates, just they all won't function like they used to. Which I think means several characters will get a segment in the game like Liara did in LotSB, a series of missions with the particular character.

And I think for his recruitment, they will set it up like he's going to have another amazing entrance, then he just walks in casually and says hello.

Yeah, You are very, very bad person

Anyway, today I went on Zaeed loyality mission in my next playtrough, and ( as usual) I choose to save workers. The way Thane was looking at Zaeed before they follow Shepard looks for me as a warning from Thane..Loved it..I know I imagine things here, becouse probably every others companions have this scene too..but  it was sweet ( as everything including Thane).
About Thane recruiting mission in ME3, if there will be one...I imagine, that Thane will try warning Kolyat and save him from a Reapers if they will try to attack Citadel again ( if Kolyat is still there), and Shepard will go for them both...Maybe Thane will die in the fight ( if unloyal in ME2) or we will have chance to save him and his son ( if loyal & LI)

@Complistic I was actually expecting the "Give up the Toad Now" song from Family Guy. That's worse.

And I don't see any "recruitment missions" per se, I think everyone's "recruited" already, and helping fight wherever they happen to be, aboard other ships and whatnot. You go to help defend Palaven and run into Garrus mid-way through, type of thing.

As for when we get Thane, I'm waiting to meet Kai Leng under a strategically placed air duct somewhere...
