I'll be a bit disappointed if Thane's only there for one mission, I'm worried that most of the game is going to be spent with characters I don't like.

I'm sure that mission will be fun, and I will enjoy playing it. I just don't see how you're suppose to continue your relationship with him if you don't see him agian after that. I know that we don't know it for sure, but that article made it sound like that was it. Not satisfied, not happy just content.

I'm with the others in that we should withhold judgment for the time being. For all we know, the whole thing plays differently for a romanced Thane, in which case you can expect more than just a LOTSB-type mission.

The only thing that will ruin Thane's character is bad writing. Not if he gets a cure, or if he doesn't. We will just have to wait and see.

Sudden miracle cure = bad writing

This is exactly how I feel. I'm also worried that I won't be content with the mission, or his inclusion at all.

The article only said that the scientist we rescue are working on a cure. Not that they had found one.

Not if it's plausible within the ME universe.   And also what JECSWU said.  It could be a treatment or something else, who knows.

Are you guys seriously expecting the mission to end with a farewell from Thane just like that? I wouldn't think so. Not if this is the final act and, most importantly, not if he's your love interest.

Cure's aren't miracles... they happen.   It's hardly a stretch to think that in the advanced universe of ME they happen more often than IRL.

I'd expect there to be an excuse such as him staying on with the scientists to get cured... which is okay...but still leaves me with the potential problem of having a team made up of characters I couldn't give a toss about.

I agree. Cures do happen. Successful treatment can happen.

Shepard coming back to life was what I would call bad writing, and yet no one seems to think that ruined his or her character.

Actually, Ava, a LOT of people have complained about Shepard's death. But you're right. It IS bad/pointless writing.

exactly... in the comparison to Shepards 'cure' a cure for Thane is highly plausible

LOL oh you.

I reserve judgement.
But I don't think they would tease the "cure Thane" thing that Weekes did and NOT have him cured or allow the possibility.

And if they did cure him? It could harm his character. It could also help his character.
Overall, I hesitate to jump to judgement, especially since the devs obviously know much more about this than we fan peons do.

This, this, THIS

Yes and since when is a cure so sudden and unrealistic. They've been searching for one for a few years prior to ME2, Thane only said he doubted it would be ready in time, not that it would be impossible.

Anyway, not gonna turn this thread into another one of those discussions. I'm just glad it's sounding more and more like we're getting our assassin back!!!

I think this more or less demonstrates what Casey, Christina and the other developers have repeatedly implied, that is, ME3 will offer a collection of LOTSB-style missions where you can get potentially vital help from your old friends who survived the suicide mission. We just don't know if it stops at that or there is actually more to it afterwards.

Yeah, Casey keeps reminding us "nothing can be assumed permanent."
So I'm not exactly sure what to expect!

Quite possibly the temps rejoin Shepard for the final battle. That would make sense, to me. Rather than standing around in their corner of the galaxy twiddling their thumbs while Shepard does stuff.

I also figure that you may lose or gain squad mates based upon your decisions. Tali & Legion would be the most obvious example.

That's what I don't want. For this one mission to be it. If we do get something after that will it be at the very end of the game.  I really don't want that either. I'm worried that tha's exactly what we will get. One mission, and that's it. Meanwhile everyone else get's to have their LI with them all the time.

Rejoining for the ultimate showdown does make sense, Col. I'd be so down for that.

But... that hasn't been confirmed.
Could be that every LI gets a relatively even part in the game.

It's kind of moot to make such assumptions at this early stage, though. Like Hana remarked, we don't *know* that. Further, recall what Casey said about the writers working "very hard" to ensure every romance plays out evenly and equally well. I'm sure it's not all that bad.

Do you really believe that every romance is going to play out equally? Bioware says a lot of things that don't actually happen, and so far it hasn't been that equal.

I would love to be proven wrong on this. I will just have to wait and see.

I don't really "believe" it--more like content with the fact that they've acknowledged the issue in the first place. We'll just have to continue doing what we do best: waiting!
