I imagine Thane keeping tabs on Kolyat, nearby or not, and quietly collating information for Shepard. As a trained assassin, he's got to have a good amount of skill in assessing situations quickly and efficently. I could totally see him on the Citadel during an attack; he'd either be leading civilians through the safest possible route or gunning down any potential danger and helping Bailey herd passerby to ships.

I'm one of those people who think Thane will be incapacitated thanks to Kepral's, though I of course hope not.

Gnas, I was in no way trying to say that the struggle isn’t important. I do have friends who think Thane is nothing without his terminal illness to define him, and it makes me quite upset, since I think it translates almost too well to real life. I agree with you completely that life should be what is focused on, not death—and I was attempting to convey that by taking what my friend said and arguing that it’s insensitive and narrow-minded. Of course, I’m not always clear in my posts, so I’m sure I could have come across badly

And on the topic of disloyal Thane, I think if he's going to be alive in ME3, it won't be for long. He was a death seeker originally, and he lost the one last thing that mattered to him. If he's incapacitated by Kepral's, he has Kolyat and possibly Shepard to fight for if he's loyal. Disloyal, he has nothing. Of course, loyalty might not actually matter. Tali and Garrus have been announced as permanent squadmates, and I have playthroughs where they aren't loyal--if that doesn't make a difference, I doubt Thane's condition would.

...And even if he is incapacitated, I think we should just throw him on a gurney and roll him into battle. Lure a husk over, let Thane neck snap. Rinse and repeat.

Best. Battle plan. Ever. I can totally see Shepard wheeling Thane around a Reaper ship. 'No! Left! Yes, just a little-'

* snap *

'Two down, Shepard, four to go. Just roll me into that group over there.'

I see a loyal Thane being somewhere getting treatment (I never thought I was an optimist, but there you go). I think a disloyal Thane will maybe be dead, if not he'll die... maybe this could be the blaze of glory death that some seem to yearn.

While I think that reflecting realities of life in a game is fine, I personally feel that this should not extend to important NPCs. If we are unable to save Thane in ME3, victory is always going to be a bit hollow.
How can I win the game for my Thanemancing sheps when they lose the one they love?
There's no happy ending there, just a hard won victory for the galaxy. This would be especially galling if shep and other LIs got to fly off into the sunset...
We all deserve the chance of a happy ending in our own ME universe.

It should be noted that Casey has assured quite a few times that ME3 won't exactly be a happy ending.

If it'll have Shepard dissapearing into Dark Space, I'll be miffed :P.

On a lighter side, anyone else laughed at this snippet of Thane's Shadow Broker dossier?

Kill Methods: Krogan

Top approach, double-strike to eye ridge, slide down between blinded
target's rising arms, precision nerve strike to throat, secondary nerve
strike to counter blood rage, quad-kick to bend target, grip each side
of skull, running leaping spinning neck-snap.
Alternate:
Bomb.

Perhaps not. But I imagine that the other LI's will at least have a possible happy ending. So it is my hope that Thane does as well.

I guess that Casey may be referring to the different species that SHepard allies with, and how it may not be a happy ending for some of them. Especially if it is things like salarians or Krogan, geth or quarians. With LI's, because ME3 is the last in the trilogy (of Shepard's story,) it seems sensible that there will be a 'happy' ending for each LI.

I know people say 'you knew what you were going into when you found out Thane was dying.' But there are several cases, even in today's world, where people have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and have gone on to live a full, healthy life. There is hope for Thane when he is150 years from the current medical technology, surely?

Honestly, if Thane's alive and mobile at the end of ME3 (or at least if that's an option), that's enough of a happy ending for me. Everything else can be solved with the magic of headcanon.

Thane just needs to be alive and mobile at the end. He can be beat up, he can be bloodied but alive. That's all that matters. XD

Thane surviving is what's important to me too.

There can't be a totally happy ending to ME3... there's no doubt the reapers are going to devastate the Galaxy which is hardly happy, but if shep dies, loses their love... that's kind of tragic, and not the way that I want ME to end for me... I love these games!

Did someone say headcanon? "Pssst, Mordin? That big stupid jellyfish claims to be a better scientist...."
I kid, of course. :)

And this page needs more pictures :).

haha!  I love it!

As long as Thane's alive through and at the end of ME3, I'll be happy to leave the rest up to my imagination.

More pics?

I agree. As long as Thane is alive and with me throughout the game. I know Thane won't be one of the first people you are with in the game. I'm guessing we will have to go find him. I just don't want to get him so late in the game like we do in ME2.

As far as I could tell, the only two LIs who my femshep actually was able to make tentative plans with for after the Omega mission were Thane and Liara.  (I didn't romance Jacob or Miranda, so I'm not sure if that holds true for their romances.)

Based on the "What Should We Do After The Mission" conversation with Thane, I suspect that if there is a potential for a happy ending with Thane, my femshep will be going on vacation in some picturesque desert (preferably with dessert as well) with the green guy.  Maybe the spot will be that little retirement place she won in ME1 from that crazy admiral on the training station; maybe it will be Egypt ...?

But I suspect that ME3 ends with Shep dead or lost somewhere, so, what can you do?

well with tag lines like 'decide how it ends' in the trailers I'm expecting multiple endings but I'm sure that there'll be some opportunity for shep to get dead or get lost in there.

some thane for friday
