I think the last thing on the mind of any 16 year old in ME would be "yeah! let's fight reapers! i know they've annihilated civilisations and are pretty much unstoppable, but what the hell, it'll be fun!". Cuple that with the fact she's autistic, and Shepard does an awful lot of travelling to unknown places, the unfamiliarity of the environments plus being thrown in to rapidly changing and fluid situations would drive her mad.

This is a galactic war, it's time for skilled men and women to join Shepard and fight the reapers. No matter how powerful she might be, a child has no business on the Normandy and on Shepard's team. And don't even get me started on having a 16 year old LI. Just...please. No.

Besides, BW stated the squad would be smaller. We already have Ashley/Kaidan, Vega, Garrus, Tali and Liara, with a possible female squadmember coming up that's 6 squadmembers. Miranda will probably get added to that list as well, which makes 7. Plenty imo. If they were adding an 8th squad member I'd rather it were no human. Diversity here is a good thing.
