Quesion is... exactly how bad is her condition because if she is traking people down out of revenge she can't be this drooling retard some people are so keen to make autistics out to be. She had issues with being touched, but I don't think she had an infantile mind.

As I have two siblings who are autistic, I can vouch for the fact that this is mostly true. It does get milder as they age.

@The Twilight God: The problem isn't that she's young, it's that she's autistic. Seducing her would be to take advantage of her condition.

Agreed...

WTF????? She's a high functioning autistic. Do you guys know nothing about autism? Half of the people in this thread seem to think autism=retardation or something. Do some freaking research people! Whatever, I just need to get out of this thread, it's making me sick to my stomach seeing these responses, and it's starting to make me lose a little faith in humanity.

Did you even read the rest of the post and why I said her condition would be problematic for a Bioware romance?

Being touched is the hinderance to a Bioware romance.

Just no.  Not every NPC has to be romancable!!

Plus this really does put a fine line on what acceptable.  An autistic 16 year old...     I mean really?!!

Ah sorry then. I was more referring to the thread in general. Clearly most of the people in this thread haven't got a clue about what high functioning autism actually is, which is very frustrating to me, and a bit of an eye-opener. Didn't mean to jump all over you specifically, it was just the latest post at the time and it just set me off haha. If people are going to insult an entire group of people like that they should at least do their research first.

Opinion. If someone wants to romance a 16 year old they should have the right. I don't think everyone in the world should be limited to U.S. hang ups about age and relationships.

A 16 year old is not a child. Your distain is nothing but an arbitrary social convention. A 16 year is physiologically and psychologically an adult.

It is perfectly legal for a 30 year old to date a 16 year old (in the vast majority of states and countries) and it is not pedophilia.  Pedobear does not approve.

I'm no biologist, but it's fairly common knowladge that the human brain reaches full development at the age of 25 (roughly, obviously from person to person this will differ a year here or there). That's nearly a decade of mental development difference between someone who is 16 and someone who is only in their mid 20's.

I think most people who have dated girls in their mid twenties and then dated an 18 year old would agree that there is a noticeable difference in maturity. A 16 year old is without question closer mentally to a child of 12 than they would be to someone who is even in their late twenties.

I'm not saying people should go to jail for being in an adult relationship with someone who is 16, that's completely legal here in Scotland and else where in the world. My point is that it is most probably against their better judgement if the other person involved is above the age of 25.

For a world wide company like Bioware, who has a fan base in many countries where the portayal of people aged 16 being depicted in sexual situations is against the law, leaving their selves open to being sued for child pornography offences doesn't seem like the most brilliant idea to me whether you think it's acceptable or not.

Unless you think the age of consent should be raised to 25 this line of discourse is irrelevent. You're arbitrary opinions about sexual maturity are contradicted by mother nature herself. I find it ridiculous that you think 18+ year old sexual organs are going to somehow damage the psychology of anyone 16 or 17 years old while it's perfectly safe for two 16 or 17 year olds to have sex. As if people get special penis/vagina powers on their 18th birthday that are detrimental to anyone 17 years, 364 days, 23 hrs, 59 minutes and 59 seconds old and younger.

I think most people who have dated girls in their mid twenties and then dated an 18 year old would agree that there are no noticeable differences in maturity, just differences in responsibility and expectations. A 16 year old is without question equal in cognitive ability as 25 year old.

See, we can both spout baseless conjecture claiming how our position is correct "without question". Not every culture babies teenagers. A 30 year old who is spoiled and taken care of by their parents with no personal responsibility or expectation of independence will behave like your typical american teenager.

Why?

I'm speaking solely on the basis of age here, not a 16 year old's position in our society. For the record I'm not out looking for 16 year olds and have no desire to date a 16 year old. In the the vast majority of cases it wouldn't make sense considering I live in a different social strata and don't interact with 16 year olds on a regular basis. This is simply about the biological reality of sexuality take at face value.

Last I checked ME romance scenes were as pornographic as Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood. And it's a video game. No underaged persons are involved.

I wasn't talking about having sex, sex it's self is much the same 14 upwards. I was saying that 16 year olds are of a closer mind to kids than they are adulds.

O.K point taken with the without question thing, but it is true teenagers are on a slightly different wave length than the rest of us, me and my friends were discussing this the other day on the golf course (was a bit of a tangent from a conversation about women golfers) and it's not a massive difference, it's small stuff makes you notice it but even if you think about yourself (assuming your in your 20's or older) that your not really the same person you were at 18, I know that's true for me and a lot of people I went to high school with.

My point was never that 16 year old's shouldn't have sex, or that your out scouting for one, just that a 15+ year age difference is noticable when your that age.

I know that, but are you seriously telling me that insinuating Shepard has sex with a 16 year old is a responsible thing for a company like Bioware to do when many of the countries and states this game is sold in legaly consider 16 to be under age?

Edit: typos

That's based on how they are treated and what's expected of them by our society. I've been in the Air Force for almost 10 years. Back in 2005 I was a SrA and I was the second highest in rank under my shop chief. I had an Airman under me who was quite childish and deferring to another airman who was about 22 years old. I was 24/25 at the time. This airmen was 29. The heirarchial strata he was in resulted in a 29 year old with the maturity of a 15 year old. This is one thing I disliked about military life is that I felt the rank structure stunted peoples' maturity. Because he was lower ranking, had lower expectations from his peers and his level of responsibility was negligible his behavior matched his station. 16 year olds behave in a less mature manner because that is the position our society pigeon hioles them into. If you went over to Qatar you'd notice the 16 year old third country nationals behave more maturely as they are treated like adults and have jobs, bills, etc. like U.S. adults. While the qatari national adults are kinda immature because they get paid 30K a month by the state in oil money, don't have to work and are literally pampered little brats.

They sell ME in Puerto Rico. Homosexuality is illegal there. So what? Some states still have laws against interracial sex. So what? It's not illegal in a video game.
