I just got LOTSB and Arrival; just wondering chronologically when they are supposed to take place. Would it make more sense storywise to complete them after the suicide mission or does it not matter?

Both are designed to have enough wiggle-room to be played anywhere, but as bridging DLC are particularly suited for being played post-suicide mission. The only one with any quote/unquote 'canonical' timing is Arrival, which is supposed to be two monthes before ME3 which itself is over a year after the Suicide mission.

Ah ok thank you. Was confused because I got the messages on the terminal for them already. Will proceed with finishing campaign, LOTSB, then Arrival.

after the suicide mission, do LoTSB, then IMMEDIATELY LEAVE (dont initiate the conversation at the door in the base), then do arrival, then return to liara at the shadowbroker base.

That's if you do not need the rewards of either DLC.

As a tip: while it's fully recommended to do it that way if you'd like (and be sure to do it post-Suicide mission at least once), those missions offer some pretty nice upgrades and other assets during the main story. LotSB is particularly helpful, with a number of upgrades, resource shipments every day, and even a means to re-allocate squad points.

Nothing necessary, but rewards that are certainly nice to have before the Suicide Mission renders everything else moot.

Where did you hear that Arrival is canonically two months prior to ME3?

Without spoiling it for the OP...what does that do?

Oh thats some nice information right there.  I was wanting to play the content in the right order im just quirky like that Posted Image.

I can understand bioware leaving it up to the players to decide when to do the missions but i still say they should have some kind of trigger that the player has to reach before the content becomes active in the game.

A example would be when I first met  Liara in ME2  I pretty sure i was right up able to say hey Liara havne seen you in how many years and for no real reason at all lets go kick the shadow brokers ass.   I  mean she has not even told me about her dealings with him and why she wants to take him down so bad etc.

Just made no sense to me.  Realisticaly  you should  recieve the email from the illusive man with the intel about the shadow broker a mission or two after you first  catch up with Liara and she tells you about her dealings with him and what he has done to her.

Oh well can only hope BioWare adds some triggers for the the DLC for mass effect 3. Personly that would be something I would love to see.  Anyways off to go play ME with my new  timeline knowledge Posted Image though first i need to unlock stasis for my chars lol  I want to see if its a good ability to go with my vangaurd.

LotSB doesn't really matter.  People say it is supposed to come after the suicide mission, but I've played it both ways and see no reason for such an assumption. There is some modified dialog, but I personally think the pre-suicide mission dialog makes more sense... if you are planning to romance her.

So I would recommend you do it prior to the suicide mission (after the other 2 assignments she gives) if you are continuing a romance with her (I consider it Shepard's loyalty mission). Maybe invite her to the Normandy after after the suicide mission.

Arrival should be the last mission you do. Definitely after the suicide mission. It not only trivializes the collector threat, but the talk at the end doesn't have as much weight if <blank> speaks with you instead of <blank>. I would not even install Arrival until you are ready to play it since you are forced to receive the mission brief. You can't just leave it in the mailbox until you're ready like LotSB. The the mission has a sense of urgency that breaks immersion if you sit on it til after the suicide mission (at least for me).

Before starting my 'canon' playthrough getting ready for ME3, I should delete Arrival, yes? it should take place after the suicide mission and that's when i want to play but you can't use your personal computer with it installed right?

Mass 3 begins a couple months after Mass 2, not a year.

Yes.  If Arrival is installed you will be forced to receive the mission brief from Hackett rather you are in your quarters or in the CIC if you use the personal terminal. This is right after Horizon. It was a horrid idea to let people play it before the suicide mission. It would be like playing Awakening a third of the way through DA:O.

Assuming you're on PC you go into: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\DLC

Delete: DLC_EXP_Part02

Then rerun the install program when you're ready to play it.  Not sure how consoles work. If you start a game with the DLC already installed you can't uninstall and load any save in which the DLC is present, even if it's a pre-Horizon save and it's only in the background.

I'm a picky sob. Although not quite an intrusive and Arrival, I delete LotSB too. I can't stand the fact that it pops up before Liara ever mentions the Shadow Broker, much less before you even reunite with her. I pretty much delete everything but Zaeed, Kasumi and Arc Projector/Cerberus Armor.

Thanks. I'll be doing the same with all the dlc like you did.
