I can see it affecting it. He is pretty defensive about it and i can easily imagine it killing him on the inside.

Usually turn him in to the Alliance, most of my Shepards are Lawful Good, I don't think the way that you deal with his dad will affect JT much, as justice is served either way.

I just leave him at the mercy of the mess he made. But like you I don't see it effecting Jacob at all. He had a funeral for that man long ago the body was just late.

I'm very excited to see how Jacob is reintroduced into ME3. Hopefully unlike Mordin (whose case I hope is only temporary) I hope Adam Lazzare-White would be back to voice him!

I think we are rarer than most, sadly. It gets pretty old seeing people every where I go say "Hes too boring and uninteresting!" just because he doesnt need to be fixed emotionally.

Here's A topic though: I remember back in the early days of the old thread that many thought that Jacob was a good character, but he needed to be "fixed" to appeal to more people. Any ideas on how he could be improved in ME3?

Powers: As long as they don't dump JT's Barrier skills in ME3, I don't care what skills they add to him. The lack of toughness is what I don't like about most of the other squad members. Lose the barrier spamming which was totally Bioware's fault for not fixing (Grunt and Legion also have this problem but get a free pass by the haters because they hate JT for other reasons and use this as an excuse IMO). Judging from Garrus's skill set in the ME3 demos he will probably still have Pull.

Weapons: An assault rifle isn't needed. All he needs is a long range shotgun option like the geth pulse (which is better than any AR) and he's good to go.

Ammo Power: Fine the way it is. Inferno Ammo has no match.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jacob with his ME:G abilities = perfect squad mate.

When Grunt spams Fortification, all you're losing is Concussive Shot.  And when Legion spams Geth Shield Boost, all you're losing is the highly situational AI Hacking and the Combat Drone, which possesses an absurdly long cooldown.  But when Jacob spams Barrier, you're losing access to the quickly recharging Pull, useful for starting Warp bombs, nailing area staggers, and shutting down entire groups of enemies at once.

It is my theory that this might play a role in the decision some players make when deciding to complain about Jacob while giving Grunt and Legion a free pass.

I tend to lean toward your side of the debate because I find Barrier-less Jacob to be incredibly useful, but I every time I say something I get greeted with language that only you Strategy Forum people could have an arguement against, so I shut the f**k up after that
