This.
I can live with Jacob not being a squadmember. But not something like Horizon, or worse.
Also acknowledgeing my romance in a way that doesn't feel tacked on compared to everyone elses (like LotSB)

I agree. He is a good character that probably just needs more developement to become more interesting.

I support Jacob. People may have said he wasn't interesting, or whatever, because they played Femshep, but he was my bro, the only normal person on the whole damn ship. It was also refreshing that he wasn't a gaint walking caricature like the Cole Train, and we need more minority characters that are just normal people.
Just. . .don't make him a bloody Vanguard without charge again. You had a novel that gave him backstory and then proceeded to crap all over it.
And if not, add his details to character creation for christ's sake. I would literally kill for his hairstyle for my shepard.
I totally agree!! What I like about Jacob is that he's normal and a MAN. Not the typical Bioware whiny man-child stuffed with 'humor' (Anders, Alistair, Carth) but someone who keeps his emotions in check and performs like a true soldier. Bioware needs more manly human leads (a.k.a bros) in their games like that regardless of appearance or nationality.
Now it would be nicer if we didn't get minority characters that were always treated like sex objects (but rather deep romances like the standard-fare Anglo-Saxon character). Zevran was your typical Latin-lover horndog, Isabela was extremely beautiful but had to be the female counterpart to Zevran, and Jacob's romance comes more off as female Shepard acting like a desperate housewife. For once I too would like to see non-stereotypical Asian/Latino/Black characters become romance options that matter instead of a fling or tryst. :-/
(Personally hoping for a new Black or Hispanic female squadmate or even Kasumi as an ME3 LI).
Rants and hopes aside Jacob is an awesome character. It's just too bad he wasn't that good of a squadmate (gameplay wise) and that he's underappreciated just because he's not an alien or an Alistair clone.

I'm not going to go as far as "we are never going to see it again", but the daddy issues like, everyone outside of Mordin had on that ship was insane. It was nice to see the resolution Jacob had with his father, and it was nice to see him not whine about it afterward, I feel his responses post loyalty mission was the response I expected of a trained soldier. I have read people say he should have been more attached to his father, after everything his father did on that rock, and I'm like. . .these are the fans Bioware listens to.
I still don't know how they are going to even explain Jacob and Miranda not being part of the squad.
Jacob and Miranda: "Hey Shepard, we left Cerberus to follow you, man! Let's take down these Reapers!"
Shepard: "Yeah. . .this is going to be awkward. . ."
Anyways, I second what an earlier user stated. I want to at the very least go partying with the dude when everything is over, and spill some drinks on the Citadel.
Why doesn't Bioware work on friendships anyway? Not everything is about smanging.

He's a good squadmate gameplay wise. Some people don't know how to use him properly.

He's a Vanguard without charge. That is, unequivocably, the worst class in the game, and at the very best he could be kept as a Warp Bomb machine if he didn't spam Barrier all the time. Having to ignore parts of the game i.e. his loyalty mission, to make him worth using makes him a bad character.
Gameplay wise, he's the worst character in the game.
Based on the novels, he should have basically. . .been Zaeed with Biotics.

I disagree. I don't use him as a warp bomb. I use him as a biotic tank with inferno ammo. I use Jacob and Grunt together the most. I have no problems dropping shields with gun fire alone. The other squaddies are just too soft for my taste. I cloak as an infiltrator and Miranda, Garrus and the others won't last long when the enemy focus fires on them. Miranda useful for warp but is not for gun fighting. She's fragile and so is Garrus. Jacob doesn't have that problem. Range was his biggest weakness IMO but the firepower pack solved that problem.
