It has been said that:

“Spectres are not trained, but chosen. Individuals forged in the fire of service and battle—
those whose actions elevate them above the rank and file.”

How is it that Kaidan and Ashley meet these qualifications. But someone as accomplished as  Jacob Taylor is.Is not considered a canidate for Spectre Status?!

He and Ash both survived the attack on Eden Prime. But Jacob didn't need Commander Shepard to save his ass! Like Ashley did. What has either Kaidan or Ashley even done, apart from Shepard's command and direction?

Jacob was the main protagonist of Mass Effect Galaxy:

Posted Image And he saved the Citadel Council from a horrific

bioterrorism attack.

When Jacob was aboard the passenger liner Arcturian Jade.He took out the batarian attackers and saved the crew and passengers.Kai & Ash for all we know have not even done something like that. :P

I got the impression that the Council and the general public didn't know that Jacob saved the Citadel. Kaiden and Ashley benefitted from being with Shepard (whether they contibuted significantly or not). Shepard's deeds are well known by the Council and the general public. I agree though that Jacob did more than either of those two and he didn't have a Shepard leading him.

I thought Jacob talked to the council at the end of the game? It's been a while since I last played it but I'm sure I saw the Asari counciler talking with him (or maybe it was a representative, Gah I can't remember!). I think it was the general public that didn't know about the attack, surely the council would have knew about it! It's probable that Jacob was recommended a spectre position but was rejected because he was dealing/working with cerberus at the time of the batarian attack (well, he was being recruited... same thing :wizard:).

There is so much that i like about Jacob. There is so much that I think BioWare did  with him that makes him unique. He is a "new type" of Sci-Fi Character (in a way) When I tried to think if I have ever seen a charcter akin to Mr.Taylor? I came up short.I couldn't think of anyone. Here you have this man in this sort of Sci-fi/Fantasy setting of Mass Effect.Who comes across as remarkably ordinary (but far from mediocre) human and real...I feel like he could be someone I work with.

Jacob just has this "je ne sais quoi" about him! He's not trying to be a "scene stealer" (like Jack -- even though I love her) he doesn't show-boat.He's just Jacob. And I like that.He also has a Backstory every bit as good as the ones you can choose for Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 1.

"A former Alliance Marine under the command of Major Derek Izunami, he resigned after surviving the geth attack on Eden Prime."

One thing that's so cool about this.Is that in ME 3.It creates a possibilty that Jacob could know Ashley or know of her in a way that Shepard does not..They both were stationed on Eden Prime after all...
:innocent:

And I also like the idea of Jacob being so close to a man that would go on to make history.By becoming the first human Spectre. But they never met each other on Eden Prime.

Funny moment in ME2.

Shepard: Experimenting on humans? That kinda crap is what makes Cerberus sound like a good idea!

Taylor: Hey, thanks.

Another moment from Mass Effect 2: Fight For the Lost --  that stands out to me: That is character related. Is betwixt Tali & Jacob.

These two squadmates have a great deal in common in ME 2.For they both discover something unknown and horrifying about their fathers. The difference is... How these two very highly accomplished individuals react.

- Tali'Zorah vas Normandy is so distraught and overwhelmed by her revelations about her father. That she attempts to talk Commander Shepard into concealing the truth and to lie under oath to the Admiralty about what really happened on the Alerai. :o

- Jacob Taylor on the otherhand. Is cut from a different cloth... :innocent: Not only does he (either) turn his father into the lawful authorities.Knowing full well. That a story as big as this -- As shocking and horrifying as this... Will be all over the Cerberus Daily News and other media outlets.Potentionally doing GREAT DAMAGE to his families name.

But after the events on Aeia.Jacob has enough insight, perspective and distance to realize the truth... That even though his father did awlful things. As a man.As an acting Captain. He was nonetheless -- A Good Father to Jacob. We all wear different hats in our lives. We are children, neighbors, students, friends, lovers, co-workers, citizens and other things.Jacob's abilty to properly compartminilimize.Shows extrodinary maturity and character on his part. :wizard:

And for me (and My Shepard) It was really one of those.I had to take a step back from Jacob and just look at him and tip my hat momentsAnd here I thought that Commander Shepard is suppose to be the inspirational figure and protagonist. What's a supporting character doing stealing his thunder every now and then. :P

For not many could do what he did.Jacob's emotional maturity is most impressive and enviable.

I don't know if this question has been raised yet; but: If during Jacob's Loyalty Mission. You sent his father Ronald Taylor to prison.Do you all think that he and his son will have a reunion in Mass Effect 3?

Will Jacob have the opportunity to visit his father behind bars? I hope so.For all Ronald Taylor's faults.I thought that he was a very interesting character nontheless...

But a creepy sicko imho ><"

EDIT:
That's one in-law that Gwen would rather avoid. Matriach Benezia was a nightmare enough for her back then.

Something funny.

James Vega, most hated ME3 character and we know nothing about him has 57 pages in support thread that was locked for few days at some point.

Jacob Taylor, least favorite ME2 squadmate( not including Morinth) at same time period has 20 pages in his support thread.

Poor Jacob.

Mesina from what I see, Mordin's, Grunt's and Samara's fan threads aren't exactly over-flowing either. In fact they have less pages than Jacob's.  Thanks for the heads up though.

Because, Shepard because a Spectre since it was convenient for the Council do to Saren.

Ashley or Kaidan become since they known to work with the Hero of the Citadel, Commander Shepard.
So one of them become a Spectre do to political move.

Jacob is, well, nobody.
And later or started to work with the Cerberus so, well you know.

How many of you have played galaxy? Ive played i a few times, and its interesting to think about which choices are most in-line with the personality depicted in me2.

In the beginning a ship he's on is raided by Batarian extremists (redundant term I know) and Jacob single handedly thwarts them. From everything he does in Galaxy, all single handedly, I would say he's worthy of being a Spectre. You can play him a bit ruthless-- the renegade dialogs in galaxy are all pretty spectre-y

Ill never understand why none of his past missions are alluded to.

Another Jacob supporter here ^^
I'm going through ME and ME2 again just to romance him, since I hadn't do it before. He's gonna change renegade FemShep into paragade, at least :3
