I think that whoever wrote Jacob tried so hard to make him as cool as possible without making him Token, that they just damaged the character's public appeal. Oh, I really like Jacob because he's serious, strong, and not an emotional mess -- thus avoiding the risk of him being a stereotype. But he's also a bit cold, closed off, and he doesn't have anything meaningful to really say.

Of course, that last part applies to half of ME2's cast.

Hmmm.... it is really no problem with not liking a character, no companion is loved by all. But I don't really see the reason for going to that one appreciation-thread to complain. Or rather, I fail to see what would be gained by it. You don't like Jacob, and that is just fine. If you have a specific question about Jacob perhaps something like "I didn't much care for it when he did this? What do you think it means" I would be much more understanding of that    =)   . I came by here with questions, or rather in the ME2-forum, before I got a better understanding of Jacob. As far as being dissapointed by the fact that he has the same attitude before and after the LM. It's because Jacob doesn't let these things get to him, he dealt with his father's death a long time ago, he just wanted to get rid of the questionmarks concerning this. Once he knew what's what then it was fine. He has more important things to deal with.

I just see things differently on the points you mention. TIM says one really good thing on Jacob when you have your first conversation with him, "Jacob's a soldier, one of the best. He's never fully trusted me, but he's always been honest about it". For me that says so much about Jacob and why he acts like he does. I very much appreciate that he is upfront with everything he does, even to such a powerful man as TIM.

I really don't see how Jacob want's to be a teachers pet. He disagreed to a few things, but he still follows orders. He is a soldier and they are on a important mission. What would have been better in your opinion.

And the last bit makes me wonder why you bothered to post in the Jacob Fan Thread at all   <_<  Paraphrasing, I'm not trying to step on anyones toes but I hope the guy you people like won't be in the game? Please dislike Jacob somewhere else. If you have specific questions that's just fine. But why come here only to vent.

It may be the optimist in me saying this, but I think a reason info has been scarce on Jacob and Miranda is because their roles will probably be a major spoiler to the Cerberus Storyline. I don't think he'll be a Playable Squadmate (in fact, from the looks of it no one will be from ME2 outside of Tali and Garrus) but I am thinking he'll have a good role none the less. Probably something like Liara in Lair of the Shadow Broker.

I'm also hoping that this is the reason why there isn't anything on Jacob out there. I would love it if he and my FemShep could finally do something about Cerberus. And he should have special insight in that organization since he worked for it. Cerberus will apparently have a big role in ME3 so I'm hoping that it will be a opportunity for Jacob to shine. I have never kept the base. Anyone out there who brought Jacob to the human-reaper and kept it. How does he react? Wonder if the descision to keep or destroy the base will affect how Cerberus act against you?

Jacob doesn't seem like the type to lead Cerberus, though. . .that seems like something cropped for Miranda post you dealing with TIM. Where, then, would that leave Jacob in that organization? Random throwaway role #86397?

I thought he got an offer to be reinstated with the Alliance. . .that is something I figured him to take, given people's desire for walking codex entries, that's where I expect Bioware to scuttle him off to.

Personality: Besides that fact that I didn't feel that he had much, I just thought Jacob felt like the awkward guy who wanted to be the teacher's (Shepard's) pet all the time. Even if he objected to something once or twice, he just rolled over the next second. Making the salute/standing at attention all the time wasn't a bad idea per se by Bioware, but the execution left alot to be desired.

Really? He is one of the few people that objects to some of Shepard's actions (pushing the merc out a window) and says his piece (not trusting Thane, believing that it's unsafe to activate an unknown geth)
And he's a ****ing soldier, of course he salutes <_<

See? It's this type of commentary that just plain annoys me. You Jacob haters always want to reinforce how much you dislike him wherever and whenever you can. When I finally find some decent or gorgeous fan-art of him, it always gets at least one review (irrelevant to the artwork itself) saying "Oh I HATE Jacob because blablabla" and so forth.

If you really dislike Jacob, stay out of the JACOB FAN thread. <_<

I'm rarely active on dA, but I'd love to see a Jacob fan club. Might even de-lurk and become a bit more active on the site because of it.

Ooooh, I love this idea.  I was thinking about trying to start up a Jacob Club on dA, but sort of lost steam because RL's been hectic. 

"The Good Stuff: Jacob Taylor Fan Group" <--I like.  I'm pretty terrible at coming up with names so...

If you still need someone to help admin,  I'd be happy to.  I'm on there regularly anyways.  If not, no worries, I'm happy to just contribute!

Until I did the romance with my female Shepard, I didn't care that much about him. I completly focust the romance playthrough on him and I was really impressed.

The best thing about Jacob was, he is the one of the characters who turned down my Shepard, just because my Shepard is the most nosy person in the galaxy.

I'm a little Kasumi+Jacob shipper, I think they would make an awesome couple in ME3. <3

So yes, I support Mr. Taylor.
