Ohh... I didn't even think about that, they might go with the DA2 version this time around. That could work. Hmmm..... wonder where he would be. Well, as long as I can go by and see him and not just for a specific short Jacob-q I'll be happy =)

Aaand for TOP Jacob

I prefer Jacob to rejoin the Alliance so he can see plenty of action. Maybe have Shepard and Jacob cross paths and complete a mission or two as a squad mate. I'd be satisfied with this if he can't get a more substantial role.

^^ I think we might see something like that. There's also the whole concept of the Corsairs, which is something that only Jacob is really associated with among the squad members, as far as I know, so I could see that being a factor in his involvement.

Jacob is not just a random mook soldier. he is a leader. he captained his own ship, he comanded his own squads, he was a head of security. he doesn't always have to be on the frontlines to make adifference and do some good. I could see justification for him being on the normandy in a non-squadmate capacity. I can also see him captaining his own ship alongside Shepards.

what I'm going from though are couple of crucial gameplay facts. we are getting 10 squadmates total. i believe that counts temp squadmates as well as ME3 version of permanent squad. Jacob is unfortunately not popular enough to justify taking up one of the few slots left over after confirmed/new to ME3 squad. but he IS an LI, and I still semi believe Bioware (god knows why) when they say that all LI's are equal. which means - in this last installment they really cannot pull Horizon with him... I hope. so he needs to be accessible. and since all LI's are supposed to be equal and Garrus, Tali, Liara and VS were confirmed to be squadmates (therefore fairly easily accessible) - they shortchange the rest of the LI's? and they get fan unrest on their hands.

SO I'm looking at possibilities of how he could be readily accessible without being a squadmate.

Well, more screen time would be required to start up a new love story than to continue/conclude an existing one. Where Jacob is concerned, I would expect follow-up material to be there if the romance is flagged in an imported game, but probably there won't be an option for a new relationship. Same will probably be true of at least some of the other ME2 love interests.

I'm not sure how exactly that would be handled, but it could be focused on a scripted mission or two when you first cross paths with Jacob, and then, depending on your choices, a romantic scene towards the end of the game.

all the confirmed returning squadmates have follow-up relationships though. who knows, maybe Jacob could be a temporary squadmate, just not the one you could customize, hence no bonus powers?

He is obviously very motivated to get a better option than Cerberus and I belive he is still a marine at heart.

Yeah, maybe. From the demo mission involving Mordin that we have seen, it does look like some of the returning characters may fight at your side without actually joining the squad in the traditional sense.

That might also make those missions easier to adjust for scenarios where the character is dead in imported games, as an additional reason to approach it that way.

Well yes, didn't he leave the Alliance because he felt that they didn't move on things. Perhaps actually seeing the Reapers in real life finally get them moving. But I guess I wouldn't really be satisfied with one or two q's with Jacob. But I guess that I will just take what I can get. At least he is a LI so he must have some exposure in the game.

I hope we get a really touching (tearjerker perhaps?) moment between romanced Jacob and Shepard...

I wonder how Lukas can top saying "Win, lose doesn't matter, I love you."

What I truly hope for is Jacob would be so badass in ME3 (not that he isn't already badass) that the haters gonna be begging to be bros with him.

Hear hear =) I'm with you. Hmmm.... his dialogue so far has been great so I have every hope that it will continue to be sweet and caring. That is the LI-protection I guess. Hope that he will have a good amount of good conversations for friends also. Started a new FemShep for Jacob. This will be the first one who isn't faithful to her ME-LI. Jupp, there will be drama in ME3, glorious =) oh the joy of being a meta-gamer, lol

Does anyone else think Jacob will have a makeover? I remember the devs saying on twitter that all squadmates were getting a thorough do over (Most noticeably Jack, apparantly). And how would you guys want Jacob to look in ME3? Roughly the same, completely different or somewhere in between?

I'm not expecting them to craft new, elaborate models for each character.  I wouldn't mind if they preserved his ME2 look, though with a few graphical upgrades as necessary.  And I doubt he's still with Cerberus, so he should probably lose the logo.

I don't see why they would do anything drastic in Jacob's case, other than a possible uniform change if he's no longer with Cerberus.

I'd settle for them decking out Jacob in his ME:G armor.

I hope they decide that characters that have mid-level interest get tossed and don't make the perma-squad roster. I mean keep Garrus, Tali and the like, then add the Jacob and Kaiden types. They should skip characters that can't top any type of list.

Plus Jacob is already committed to the fight. BRING THE MAN BACK FULL TIME!

Hmmm.... they don't have to change that much, he's very good looking in my book =) but some armor would make me plenty of happy. And yay for finally getting the Cerberus-logo of it!!

@ darc    that pic has some nice armor on Jacob, just get rid of the Cerberus colors and he would be good to go

@ G Dubbzilla Hmmm.... it looks like we like the same chars but I don't really think that you should skip anyone completely. Every single companion has a little fanbase, well some have a very big fanbases, that would be sad not to see them again. And.... Jacob is probably one with fewer fans. I think it's a little sad because I see so many great things about him, but there it is. Guess quite a few people say that they would like to skip our guy completely. But I agree with you a 100% on that last bit. BRING THE MAN BACK FULL TIME     :wizard:

Just started a new FemShep last night and Jacob is just such a decent guy. Right from the start, makes me so happy. I like that fact that he wants to be straight with Shepard. Hmmm... my memory is getting a little sketchy here but think that he says something along the lines of "lying to the Commander is not the way to make her join our cause" later on when you meet up with Miranda. That's my Jacob    =)

Jacob: OK, we took'em down, but this is getting tense. Shepard, if I tell you who we work for, will you trust me?

I'd like to see Jacob in something like what was posted earlier with the black and yellow armor. If not that then something techie like what Miranda wore in her appearance pack. Just get rid of the silly stretchy rubbery looking stuff and I'd be happy. Though, I will miss admiring Jacob's um, assets.

Another thing that I like about Jacob is how much BioWare payed attention to like every aspect of his
"Indirect Charcterzation"

The audience must induce for themselves what the character is like through the character’s thoughts, actions, speech (choice of words, way of talking), looks and interaction with other characters, including other characters’ reactions to that particular person.

Jacob Taylor is a well traveled, battle hardened soldier...

My Shepard is a War Hero. And I remember really liking how when we first get off the Lazarus Station, Jacob says something about how he has friends who fought on Elsyium. It was just a little line like that, that gave the character more weight with me.

Pages back someone said something about how they got a good laugh during Mordin's Loyalty Mission. With how J.T. responds to what Shepard says about "It not being so bad working with Cerberus." :P

I had never seen that.So I decided to bring him along for that mission.I'm glad I did, b/c there is another good scene betwixt Shep and Jacob there:

When Shep get's the sick krogan to "man-up" - Jacob replies (something like this)  "Damn Shepard... The way you talked to that krogan reminds me of being back at Bootcamp." ^_^

It's these litlle  wonderful anecdotes that he has. That distinguishes him from so many other characters in the story.I hope we get more of this from him in Mass Effect 3.

@Travis I think it's more of wary rather than hostile. Even when FemShep starts hitting on him like a drunk cheerleader on prom night. :P

@uber Oh yes, I remember the "man-up" speech to that krogan. Especially badass performance from Jen Hale XD
Personally got a good laugh when he says "When do we read him his rights..?" after shoving a merc out the window.
And also when Shep says that the human experimentations make Cerberus sound like a good idea,
Jacob sarcastically goes "Hey thanks."

I don't know why Jacob gets a lot of hate. Everyone thinks he's boring but it's just that he still maintains strict military discipline from his days as an Alliance soldier. I'll admit that his romance was hillariously bad but that's because the writers screwed up his dialogue and therefore you have Jacob "the Priiize" Taylor.

Still the one thing that truly endeared me to him was after you've exhausted all personal dialogue with him, the next time you talk to him after a mission and everytime after a mission he'll throw a bro hug on you and tell you that he's ready to kick some ass. I go down to visit Garrus after each mission and he's more interested in his goddam calibrations than taking a bro moment w/ Shepard.

I want my Shep to party with him and spill some drinks on the Citadel and have that Turian bartender hook my Shep up with some ryncol and go wandering off all over the Citadel for the soul purpose of setting off radiological alarms.
