@ Trivia that sounds like a fun idea for a good cause. Hmmm... could you add a link. Couldn't find the info anywhere else =)

Ohh... and just because I can, here's a screen of the latest FemShep, I'm having so much fun with her. She is romancing Jacob and this is the first PT I have with a FemShep that is unfaithful. She moves on from Kaidan and Jacob and I have no idea what I will do with her in ME3. That's part of the fun really =) Those two are fav-LI:s for me, just a little irritating to always read the "whiny human male"-comments that always crop up on youtube. Oh well, their loss. I happen to like these guys. And they don't whine =)

she's cute!  I have the same issue with one of my Shepards... and the reason why I have yet another Shep, becasue I wanted Jacob to have a romance all of his own :P  when you figure out how to solve this conundrum - let me know :P  I keep wavering between keeping Jade with Jacob and trying to go back to Kaidan.. gah!

P.S>  whiny=character I don't like but cannot figure out a good reason for it.

There's a Mass Effect Marathon being held sometime later this year and donations from viewers will go to Child's Play charity.

Here's some necessary info for interested Jacob Thread dwellers.

What is Child’s Play Charity and why are you supporting them?

Child’s Play Charity is a non-profit organization that raises money to buy Toys, Video Games, Books and other forms of entertainment to improve the lives of child patients for hospitals worldwide. These items are a great outlet for kids that are sick and spending a lot of time in the hospital, allowing them the ability to be a kid while undergoing whatever treatment they may need. There are a lot of studies going on now that find that if patients are happier and can keep their minds off of their condition, they heal quicker and ask for less pain medication. This make an organization like Child’s Play a really worthwhile charity to support. Please feel free to click on the Child’s Play link and check out the front page which has a visual map of all the different hospitals that are currently receiving toys.

Why are you playing the Mass Effect Series?

If you don’t know already, Mass Effect is a Sci-Fi Action Role-Playing Game developed by Bioware. We are playing these games because first and foremost, Mass Effect 1 & 2 are some of our favorite games of all time. The games rock and we want to share our love of this Bioware universe. In addition to that, when looking at the landscape of gaming marathons out there, we wanted to differentiate ourselves a little bit, playing a game series that people liked but had not been done for a marathon as of yet and gave the audience an opportunity to interact with us and feel more involved in the event.

OK then, what makes you guys different as a gaming marathon and how do viewers get involved?

When you think about it, at it’s core Mass Effect is a game about choices. On a simple level you can choose what class you are, what gender Commander Shepard will be, and decisions about your background. During the game you have moral questions of how you should act, how you solve a situation, and even who lives and dies. Here at Mass Effect Marathon, we give all the major choices that are in the games over to you, the viewers, through a series of voting polls that anyone who comes to the site can vote in. In addition, the more that you donate to the marathon will mean that we will keep certain characters alive in Mass Effect 2 during the games ending Suicide Mission.

How does the voting poll process for Mass Effect 1 & 2 work and when do you take those results into account?

In order to vote on major decisions in each game, you must visit the Mass Effect 1 Polls and Mass Effect 2 Polls pages. All the choices you make will help determine how we play the game. For example, if the highest vote getter for Mass Effect 1 class is Infiltrator we will play an Infiltrator during our playthrough of Mass Effect 1. In the example of character class, once we are at the class selection screen for that particular game, we will close that corresponding poll and take the highest result as our decision. For other choices, such as Saving the Council at the end of Mass Effect 1, when we get to that dialogue option in the game, we will close the poll and take the most voted on option as our decision. Therefore the fans have complete control on how we play the game, and we will have to adjust how we play on the fly. We will also import our Mass Effect 1 character into Mass Effect 2 so the decisions the viewers make will have a lasting impact!

How do characters from Mass Effect 2 factor into the marathon’s donation levels?

We are trying to raise $30,000 for Child’s Play Charity and as we raise money we will unlock certain donation levels. Many of these levels will have our marathon team performing a stunt or giving away prizes. Other levels though determine who lives and who dies at the end of Mass Effect 2. For example, our first character unlock is at $500 and that is the character Zaeed. If we do not reach $500 at the end of the marathon, then Zaeed and all other characters will die during the Mass Effect 2 Suicide Mission. If we unlock that $500 donation level though, we will insure that Zaeed lives no matter what. This process is cumulative for all 12 characters in the game. Therefore, in order to save our entire crew, we would have to raise $20,000 in donations where the character Tali currently resides. You literately have the character’s lives in your hands so the more you donate, the better ending we will have!

I intend to donate and vote for Jacob, naturally. Will you? Imagine if someone could donate $250 under Jacob's name, that would put him on top (at least, at the present "score") haha

SPREAD THE WORD to your Mass Effect loving friends! Or even other threads!

:pinched: FORGOT the link.

Head over here to send your love and support!

So... I was going to make a save where my Shepard had to chose between Kaidan and Jacob in ME3, but... I got friend-zoned by Jacob >_>

Shep still talks with him like a cat in heat, though.

@ Dhiro   Aww... that's so irritating. Happened to me once too =)   That particular FemShep ended up being faithful to Kaidan. I forgot that you should ask him if he was single, I took the middle option thinking that you could initiate the romance later on.... oh well.

It's always nice with a bromance I guess =) Started a new FemShep who did move on from Kaidan to Jacob. Looking forward to seeing how it will play out in ME3.

I think that the solution is multiple PT:s    =)   I'll probably play the unfaithful FemShep twice in ME3. One time when she goes back to Kaidan and one time when she stays with Jacob. It's my sliding doors project pretty much. Have faithful FemSheps for both Jacob and Kaidan also to play when I want less hearthache and more happy feelings. So little time and so many FemSheps, lol.

I have been friend-zoned by Jacob thrice.  And, upon helping a friend through the game, got her friend-zoned as well.  His romance is like a minefield.

Ugh.  It feels like real life.

@ SilentK - I already have 15 Shepards :P I suppose I could try and play Jade twice...

@ Dhiro- this is why I'm always alternately amused and exasperated by claims of Jacob ninjamancing anyone. considering how easy it is to fall into friendzone with him even when you are trying to romance him... (you know, maybe replaying Jade won't be that big of a deal, I had to replay parts of the game with her several times, because I ended up friendzoned and had to reload O_O)

it makes it kinda interesting though,IMO it gives him that extra dimension - the fact that he doesn't just capitulate to Shepard at a first wink, you have to work for it with him.

@ Lazuli Aww... 3 times friendzoned. You should get a big bunch of flowers from Jacob on the next PT. And a hug.

@ jeweledleah Multiple FemShep's for the win. I've only done 7 so far so I feel that a few more are in order. Quite a bit left to 15 =)

Next time I'm doing Jacob's LM I'll try to get the ending in which is Father shots himself. Haven't tried that ending before. And I'll bring Jacob to Legion's LM. That will also be a new thing for me. Getting closer to the SM on the current FemShep so I'm starting to make plans for the next one.

Same here! I doubt those people who claimed he ninjamanced them even attempted the romance.
Unless they clicked the Paragon options all the time, which iirc screams SECKZ NAO.
It's as funny as those who complained about Anders touching them in bad places

Can Anders please touch me in bad places? Oh, the agony.
Anyway, I think it's clear as day whether you're choosing to hit on Jacob or not. I mean, you compliment his bod, for heaven's sake. Then you get all up in his face talking about how you're interested and that's all that matters, whether he likes it or not. Which is kinda stalkerish, but he seems to be okay with it. I think the only time I was ever ninjamanced in any game was talking to Liara in my first ME1 playthrough. I wanted to explore every conversation tree, so I grilled her. Before I knew it she was telling me she was interested in me, and I was doing a WHOA! Backup.

Kath - his flirt options are not always in a top right corner and they are so obvious, that they rival Thane's "i want you, Thank" or Sebastian's.. well every flirt option really. I'm not the best at flirting, but even to me they were ridiculously obvious. so obvious that they seemed in character for Jade so I tried to skip one or 2... and ended up friendzoned :P

I haven't been ninjamanced by Liara, mostly cause, my first Shep being a nice gal and all, picked the unbugged rejection option. and I actively wanted to romance Kaidan :P (was actually on pins an needles half of the time, becasue i wasn't sure if the romance was still active or not ) and by the time I was replaying the game for a second time, I already looked up all the little details, including exactly which options work to stop romance from happening :P

When the ninjamance with Liara happened to me, I was actively romancing Kaidan too. In fact, they both confronted me and demanded that I pick one of them. I chose Kaidan, and Liara said something polite and ended it.

Here's a video of it- and BTW it starts around 2:03. Not my video, mind you.

Anyone here paranoid that the writers are going to shelve Jacob aside and give him a Virmire/Horizon type role? I was at another forum and the forumites were unanimously agreeing that Jacob is so hated that he's going to be scrapped aside in ME3 :crying:

The romance options with Jacob are very clear, but I was trying to start only as a friend, then do Horizon and then start the romance, roleplay and all.

At least DA II give you a lot of chances to start a romance <_<

@Trivia:

Sadly, it's totally possible :( I find very annoyed that my favorite characters are ignored while other characters are shoved on my face. Take Liara: My alien-hater Paragade would never go out of her way to help a asari, but ME3 will act like the DLC was played anyway. So now I have to come up with excuses to why my Shepard did it so my roleplaying don't go to waste.

If Jacob is so hated, why is his fan thread at 36 pages?  He actually has a larger fan thread than many of the other ME2 cast. Samara, Legion, Grunt, Mordin, Zaeed, and Kasumi all have much smaller fan threads at this point. So if JT is gonna die in ME3 he'll probably have company.

I'd like to point out that we know next to nothing about James Vega and his thread already has 84 pages. A small fanbase can post a lot, you shouldn't judge popularity by the number of pages.

Judge it by the number of fanfics.

Fanfics are not a true indicator either. As most fans aren't going to devote time to writing short stories but support a character just the same. I'll go even further. The Bioware forums as a whole is not a good indicator as a small majority of vocal players can create a hostile enviornment where those of opposing views are discouraged or afraid to speak out in support of a particular character (as was the case on these forums for a long time regarding Jacob).

From what I've seen, Jacob's so-called "haters" actually know next to nothing about him aside from the overuse of Prize jokes.

I hate it when other people (not haters, not fans either) make it sound like an accepted fact that Jacob has haters everywhere, when he don't even see them so often over here... Well, those who do make the effort to post here aren't too bright either imho.

I think we could start a twitter hashtag for Jacob. Like #JacobHasFans #ME3.

I like to think that the Jacob fanbase is just more sane than other fanbases lol (half-joke) We don't squee on daily (well, we do but in moderation) and we don't spam half-naked pictures of him (try and guess which fan-base does that) and we don't discuss his reproductive organs for obvious reasons. Sadly, other people (not me) think Bioware seems to only acknowledge the obsessive fanbases.

Bury yourself in work and then all the action come to the Jacob-thread   =)

Hmmm.... I don't think that they will scrap Jacob, he is a important character for some players of their game. Just because a very vocal group makes a lot of noise doesn't mean that he will be gone. But I am worried that all the hostility towards him perhaps will give him a lesser role. I'm hoping that there will be a good amount of Jacob in ME3 for those of my FemShep's who romance him and for those Shepards who wishes to spend time with a very good and close friend. I haven't given up hope but I am a little worried.

Hmmm, I wonder if it would have been different if he had had a different

* "Come back and talk to me later"-line
* some real armor, what he had in the iPhone-game looked really nice
* The Prize-line

I must say that the Prize-line get's me the most from people that complain about it. I guess it's one thing if you find it irritating when you have done the entire romance. But I just didn't. He is such a warm character when he let's you close that I did not find it irritating. For me it was more like just saying something a little wrong, putting your foot in your mouth. I just did Grunt's LM the other night and said something very paragon to krogan's spiritual leader. He was a little disapointed at my FemShep. She had said the right thing but not with enough fire. then I remembered that these guys really respond better to a more renegade approach so FemShep changed her way and promptly headbutted another krogan that was complaining. Hmmm... my FemShep said something that didn't suit her audience. I guess if my FemShep can do it, then it's ok if Jacob does it as well. Not to mention just how often I do it myself, lol    =)     It's just being human to me.

We need a little bit of Jacob here, and I would like to see him in armor
