Mass Effect needs banter.

Like loads.

DESPERATELY.

You see, banter really allows the player to see some form of chemistry amongst team mates, just look how it turned out for DAO and DA2!

I think it would be really cool to see Jacob and Jack banter over Cerberus.

EDIT: Oh look,

TOP JACOB!

If you like pretty portraits, you should really check out this artist, he's underrated on dA but very amazing.

If anything I wish I could hve renegade interruted Tali and told her to get her act together. SR-1 tenure or not she had no business being snippy with Jacob. I seriously wanted to shake her from how crappy she treated Jake.

Too far. He's a Cerberus soldier and I can't blame anyone for distrusting them. I trusted him when it became apparent that he wasn't anything close to in on the organization's evil core, but Tali couldn't be expected to know that (and deserves kudos for not leaping to believe that Shepard was a Cerberus agent either).

I propose to this thread that the biggest hole in Jacob's story was his never talking about biotics, which seems rather unrealistic. Kaidan's personal history was dominated in large part by that, Miranda frequently brought them up as part of her enhancement package, and Jack's background was her biotics. Jacob never mentioning it past one line seems... odd.

That is true. There is no mention about how his biotics came to play as an Alliance soldier. When he talked about his past w/ the Alliance he makes it seem like he was just another soldier and no mentioning how his biotics affected him as a child, like was he sent off to some biotic program like Kaidan.

There are so many biotic soldiers in the alliance (including Shepard) so why would Jacob bring it up unless Shepard asks? Kaiden brought it up because he had problems with his implants and with his teacher at biotic training camp.

Hmmm... well yes. That's true. Shepard never does ask about Jacob's biotic training, and I guess that FemShep has already talked quite a bit about biotic training with Kaidan so no need to do it yet again with another LI. But it would be interesting to know more about his background so I myself am still curious =)

Hmmm.... this is the problem with only getting a quick snapshot of how the crew acts with each other at one point. I can see Tali being distrusting when she comes on board, a being very open about it. ME2 Tali is a little more, hmmm, I don't know if I should call it feisty but she's pretty outspoken and she's my Shepard's friend. For the FemShep that romanced Jacob and recruited very late in the game that scene was pretty difficult. She just tried to keep everything calm and sort it out later. I just imagine that my FemShep has a heart-to-heart with Tali later on in her room and let's her know about the whole thing. I wish we could have gotten just one scene with 2 crewmates bantering later on in the game so that you could get a feeling for how they have progressed. Does Samara and Jacob discuss biotics? Would Tali be a little more trusting of Jacob even if he's Cerberus if FemShep or BroShep trusts him? I could see Tali becoming more trusting of Jacob as a person if a FemShep who romances Jacob tells her old friend that he's ok. Hmmm.... here's hoping for more crew interaction in ME3.

These are all interesting questions.  A little more dialogue between the crew could have answered them.  It actually made me miss the elevators in ME1. :D

Well the tweets confirm more squadmate interaction, hopefully that means some solid banter. It seems I hear new banter every time I play DAO or DA2. I hope ME3 gives me the same feel.

Out of all the human squadmates, Jacob was most qualified for Spectre status. Hopefully, he gets a big enough role in ME3. I'd be surprised if he and Ashley didn't know each other from Eden Prime and I'd like to hear how they'd interact.

It makes me so sad when people just complain about Jacob all the time. Oki, I get that perhaps the Jacob-romance wasn't written for you. Perhaps you preferred other LI:s in ME2, or you liked the ME choices better. But please just don't refer to the entire arc as it sucked. Because it didn't for many of us.

femshep.com tweeted " The one thing I don't want to happen in #ME3 is for #femshep to cougar Vega the second she sees him. #therealreasonjacobromancesucks"

tweet

A little sad panda now, always followd femshep.com on twitter because I felt that she kept the focus on FemShep and what she means to all of us. But not to happy about this tweet  :?

Still, I would not want a repeat of female Shepard sounding as she did, at least when not pursuing a romance.
I think at this point, little is going to change Jacob's stakes in ME3. If they've been listening to feedback, they will notice that the best parts of Jacob's romance involved the middle conversation where Shepards gets to vent, and hopefully they'll take that into account for romances in ME3 and other games.

I'm with you all on this.  Uncalled-for tweet is uncalled-for.

In unrelated news, I fully support Jacob.  Forever.  He's firmly in place as my fourth favorite squaddie.

I still say Jacob's romance is the best romance in the series, bar none. I'm more inclined to Miranda and Ashley because I'ma straight male, but I still ahve my fair share of Jacob romances with mah femsheps.

I know. I would really like to see that in game   =)    granted I mostly save Kaidan when playing my FemShep's but I would be really happy to see or hear some banter about Eden Prime with the one who will save Ash
I could see them developing a friendship. Especially when I get such nice pics as this one below here.:wizard:

I must say I’m very happy to see this Jacob thread abounds with so much admiration for the character. As a broShep I never romanced him so I don’t see him from the perspective of you ladies here that play femShep and did romance him, but I always liked talking with him in my playthroughs, and really liked when he gives Shepard some “dap” (google it if you’re unfamiliar with what that is) and offers to spill some drinks on the Citadel after everything is over (seriously, if my Shepard is not allowed to do this with Jacob I will be upset!). The man is cool, calm and collected. A bro. Totally the kind of dude I’d want to hang out with at bars (though I’d never get any girls if he were around…the man’s abs are Superman status). Really hope he gets a good arc in ME3. Ladies I’ll look forward to hearing how you romances with him pan out by then.

I can say that I like him as a squadie since he and Legion seem to be the only squadies to actually use all their abilities without me telling them to the fullest extent. (Meaning both use their defense and offense skills at better times than most of the other squadies)

So many missed possibilities in ME2. Can you imagine the elevator conversations between Jacob and Miranda after the Collector base was destroyed? Would have been interesting!

More banter is good news!  It's funny I can see Jacob as a Spectre (or Miranda) but I have never really seen Ashley or Kaiden as Spectre material and I like both characters.

It would be nice to see if Jacob and Ashley know each other.  It could make for more interesting crew interactions.

I dunno, Jacob is a lot like Garrus in the sense that he doesn't like dealing with a lot of political red tape (the major difference being that Garrus frequently complains about it while Jacob is more like "Yeah it sucks, that why I left." :P) ME1 kinda of proved that even Spectre's are held down by red tape, so I'd see Jacob quitting the Spectre's depending on the situation just like the Alliance.

I think people tend to underestimate VS when it comes to this.

I like both VS characters but based on what we know, neither of them is as qualified as Jacob to be a Spectre. Too humans have saved the Council. Shepard and Jacob.

No. The council are held down by red tape, not the spectres. The council didn't stop Shepard from fighting the reapers in ME1. They just said they wouldn't support him. He always had the freedom as a spectre to pursue the reapers alone. No red tape. I don't see why Jacob would quit the spectres.

>_> what massive ammount woud THAT be?  there's more hate towards VS then there is towards Jacob, especialy post Horizon.

while I think that Jacob does in fact qualify for spectrehood in tersm of his skills, part of the reason why he isn't is about the same why he is no longer a corsair.  even spectres, the real kind, not the symbolic kind like Shepard in ME2 - have to deal with red tape. remember all that reporting to the council that shepard had to do?  all the jumping through hoops?

not to mention - where was Jacob in ME2?  working for Cerberus.  where was VS in ME2? working for alliance and the council.  Spectrehood is not 100% merit based position - its officer corps and its a position typical given to people loyal and working for the council. I adore Jacob, I think he's a great character, but lets be realistic here and lets not start sliding into character or generalized fanbase bashing, please?
