Shush. Whatever trouble Jacob's in, Thane's got it way worse. And... uh, lets hope that whoever said, "All romantic arcs will be concluded" wasn't lying through their teeth. Everyone's love interest needs to be alive and not... like, indoctrinated, or evil or whatever for that.

if what's in spoilers is final?  they were lying through their teeth.

I got most of my rage out last night, so now its on low shimmer... unless someone says that what they wrote is in character for Jacob.  no.  its not.  not even close.

Someone at Bioware must have thought that he still had too many fans.

this made me laugh becasue it sadly rings too true.

top Jacob - from my suicide mission with Jade, who romanced him - it it isn't OTP - what is? I mean they were litteraly side by side through most of the cutscene  bioware, please to ruin my OTP :(

It really isn't, by any stretch of imagination. Not to mention, given his father's... upbringing of Jacob and the information given in the leaks, making Jacob do *THAT* is also a little too much of a racial stereotype...

It is a complete and utter racial stereotype, and it'll be the elephant in the room if in fact it actually plays out. It's like saying, "Hey girls, here's a sexy, strong, confident man with a heart of gold that will have your back... oh, wait." Even if I didn't like Jacob, which I do, we only get ONE human male in ME2. If they are going to punish you for allowing your Shep to enjoy herself when Kaidan so obviously and completely dumped her on Horizon (sorry Kaidan fans, I like him too and the writing there wasn't in character for him), I have a feeling that those that chose to date Miranda or Jack or Tali won't have a love-you-and-leave you equivalent response.

That leaked footage was awesome. It was nice to see the squad banter and actually participate in conversations. The inside joke about the Shadow Broker was also awesome.

I like Wrex's comment on the Shadow Broker later in the demo. I get the creeping suspicion that he knows exactly who it is.

no

and honestly - on a LI for femshep side of things it almost feels like they are going (highlight for possibly minor spoiler)

sorry folks, should have romanced Liara or Garrus, /trollface.

This is character derailment, not development. And they had done so well in ME2 at not making him stereotypical character. Now that's gone. Long, long gone. Now they're just tilting towards ridiculousness and racial undertones.

MisterJB just pm'd me more details. Makes me sick just thinking about it. Thane might be in a bad situation but so far as I can tell he's still Thane. Jacob's very character is being assassinated.

Even if it doesn't happen (and with four months 'till the game release I doubt any major changes- changes this thing would require- could occur) the fact that they were thinking about this travesty is distressing.

@ jeweledleah,

That would be funny, if it weren't so sad.

Because Jacob dared to vaguely insult Tali (ignoring the fact that Tali was actually the hostile party during the entire conversation.) Oh, and he totally wanted to destroy Legion (ignoring the fact that up until this point, they've never encountered a Geth that didn't try to kill him.) Oh and FemShep talked awkwardly to him (ignoring the fact that that is Jennifer Hale's fault if anything.)

...and how dare Jacob tell the Illusive Man that he doesn't trust him. Jacob has got some nerve being honest like that......who does he think he is......a good man?Posted Image

Well, to be perfectly honest, I think a lot of simple, narrow-minded idiots dislike Jacob because he has already nailed their perfect, precious little ice queen. Yep, can't stand the fact that Jacob hit it first....and....that Shepard has to settle for his sloppy seconds.......it is what it is.......get over it or eat a bulletPosted Image

The only simple, narrow minded idiot I see is you for spewing this crap around. But I shouldn't be surprised, since you have always had a tendency to go full retard and make an ass out of yourself.

Hey don't get your panties in a .........oh forget about it.....too late. I stated it before and I'll do it again........f*** you and your opinion. Is that clear enough for you or do I have to carve it on your neanderthal skull?

This doesn't sound good. :?

I've read most of the ME3 spoilers, but I didn't hear anything about Jacob's role. Could someone please PM me with details?

Just read the spoilers. Sadly, it's actually not shocking to me. Surprising, yes, but not shocking.

I'd had reservations about Jacob's sense of loyalty for a while.

You might have a case for his professional career, but not personally. This is the writers making a very big, ugly mess with a pen.

not only that but the way this was set up - directly contradicts the character we saw in ME2.  Jacob is honest.  Jacob is straight forward.  Jacob doesn't mince words, he gives it to you straight.  he doesn't pretend, doesn't stew.  if he has a problem?  you are going to know about it, straight from the source.  and when in relationship - he's caring, thoughtful and conciderate (unless you are an arse to him of course - in which case he dumps you.  right there and then).  He tells femshep, he loves her. he lets her vent. sending him away before suicide mission isntead of having sex does NOT make him angry or break off the romance.  he chuckes and understands. so he's not in it just for the physical.

and honestly - his professional loyalty is not like that of Zaeed's.  he's not in it for the credits or the glory.  he is loyal as long as you are actualy getting **** done.  He want's to do some good, he wants to make a difference.  and he's principled enough to stand up for what he feels is right.

Remember before DA2 came out, when all the Fenris fans were upset because it was "leaked" that he had a wife? Yeah, this Jacob thing is like that. We need a Bioware dev to come in here and debunk the dreadful Jacob-rumor. ...please?

I am so with you there. Jacob was dedicated to a cause- fixing the galaxy, making it a better place, whatever you want to call it, that loyalty superceded that of whatever group (The Alliance, Cerberus) he threw in with to achieve that goal. That's dedication and determination. And because he felt that one group wasn't getting enough done, he found one that could.

On a personal level, we know that Jacob never settled down before because work kept him mobile, and that the Miranda fling eventually didn't go anywhere. Female Shepard has to almost drag Jacob kicking and screaming into the romance. For him to suddenly ****** PM me if you want details****** is not betrayal on Jacob's part, but on the part of the writers.

If the writers showed Jack in ME3 with all her tattoos removed, lots of hair, wearing a yellow sundress or Miranda's catsuit, and if she was suddenly a firm supporter of Cerberus with a happy-go-lucky personality, that wouldn't be character development. That would be the writers trying to make Jack into someone she isn't- that's seeing the hand of the writer in the cutscene.

Same with this thing with Jacob.

Read the spoilers. I guess the heavy risk wasn't worth the priiiiize...

(Oh come on, someone had to!)

*Runs*

(P.S. No, but seriously, they're committing character assassination here)

Lurked here for some time. The news of spoilers has brought me out of hiding. I always liked Jacob. Seemed like a character that I would design. Spoilers never bother me, so I gotta know the reason for the anger I see in here now. I'd really appreciate a pm about it.

I guess it would be bad for people that would be involved with him, but It has the potential to be a good mission yet why when the galaxy is at war would you help him paragon or not?
