not only that but the way this was set up - directly contradicts the character we saw in ME2.  Jacob is honest.  Jacob is straight forward.  Jacob doesn't mince words, he gives it to you straight.  he doesn't pretend, doesn't stew.  if he has a problem?  you are going to know about it, straight from the source.  and when in relationship - he's caring, thoughtful and conciderate (unless you are an arse to him of course - in which case he dumps you.  right there and then).  He tells femshep, he loves her. he lets her vent. sending him away before suicide mission isntead of having sex does NOT make him angry or break off the romance.  he chuckes and understands. so he's not in it just for the physical.

and honestly - his professional loyalty is not like that of Zaeed's.  he's not in it for the credits or the glory.  he is loyal as long as you are actualy getting **** done.  He want's to do some good, he wants to make a difference.  and he's principled enough to stand up for what he feels is right.

I agree with you completely. it looks like the lead male LI's have evil twins. People I'd liek you to meet Jaycobe, he was created by Kaiden to mess with the people who found love in ME2, together they will ruin the lives of their good twins Kaidan and Jacob for their ultimate revenge!

I see Leah broke the bad news. I hope Jacob situation ends up like the false like the Fenris leaks in DA2. The situation doesn't seem like Jacob at all. It seems like Ronald Taylor if you ask me.

Right on, Darc. It seems very Ronald. And if they go the route that they've planned, Jacob learned nothing from his father and didn't come out a strong whole person from his childhood like they made him out to be. Which I don't believe based on who he was in ME2.

I assume they did this so that female Shepard would romance someone else. Reunite with Kaidan or Liara, primarily.

This isn't like the, "What would you say to the council when the Reapers show up" thread. I wouldn't relish a verbal lashing in this circumstance. I don't want this stupid, remarkably out of character thing to happen at all.

You can have a character develop or change without throwing all previous characterzation in front of a train.

I guess Jacob was too stable for Shepard. That's basically his excuse. Shepard can't offer him the life he wants - to settle down, have a child, and be a good father.

actualy - it was Kath   I just couldn't resist the opportunity to join in on the ranting. 

I do hope that situation changes and C - being able to curse at him doesn't change the fact that his character was still assasinated :/  and that's like taking the idea of the character being stable and turning it on its tail.  stability and dependability kinda mean that characters with those traits don't just drop bombshells like that out of the blue.

I like Liara and Garrus.  why is it that lately I have to keep on reminding myself of that fact?  oh, right, The Westley syndrom.

They do make it look like they think nobody cares about Jacob and nobody romanced him, so let's throw his character out of the window for teh lolz and more drama. It's also possibl they thought that JT didn't had enough fans to bother to write something good and in character for him.

Might wanna put a spoiler tag above that, just to be safe.

And to that, I would say- who says? Assuming he and Shepard survives the whole Cthulu-like elder machine gods eating all sentient life in the galaxy thing, there'd be time then. Nobody's settling down in the Reapers win.

Seeing as they're both involved in the whole Reaper intergalatic war in ME3, I'm trying to figure out how he had time to do what he did, motivations aside.

I generally think that Bioware will do whatever they want with the characters and not pay too much attention to what is actually in character.

Careful, careful. Seeing as Jacob is the only LI who says "I love you" directly to Shepard (not counting Thane who says it in the LotSB letter) you really don't want me to go on about how Miranda's final romance scene was 98% sex, or how 85% of Tali and Garrus' romance scenes were about sex research or...*

*these statements were made by a dual Tali and Garrus fan.

You'd have to point towards Jacob's words and actions in Mass Effect 2 that would hint at him doing something like this in ME3. Jacob would have to have been depicted as flighty, a flirt, or emotionally unstable, unreliable or incredibly weak and needy and manipulatable. Or a bastard.

None of that describes Jacob.

Everyone at one point feels they love someone but ends up not working out, also he was about to go on a suicide mission he might of been infatuated with shepard not in love
