I started a new sShepard named Deidra angela (D.A) and, probably AFTER the sM, She'll end up with Jacob after striking out with other LI's. I'm also taking at on of Jacob screenies have some:

Poor poor Jacob. His character thread couldn't muster up more than 60 pages in the same amount of time it took other character threads to reach several hundred pages. It's so sad because he's likely to make little more than a brief cameo in ME3.

Thank you for increasing the post count in this thread. The best thing to do would be to not post in the thread at all. However, If you want to increase the page count of the Jacob thread then by all means continue

First off, Kaidan doesn't whine and neither does Jacob, that title belongs to garrus; first about Red tape in ME1 then his Omega team in ME2. Second of all some KAidan fans think the same as some Ashly fans that Jacb and Miranda were meant to replace their favorite characters so they took an instant disliking to him (I know one personally that kills AJcob on purpose because she thinks he's Kaidan 2.0) That and Femsheps lines are bugged to make her "flirt" with Jacob without romancing him for his dioluge initiating line "I'm more intersted in just talking for a bit" combine that and not needing to be fixed and people stop caring since their Shepard fixing skills are not needed for him.

KaidAn, nice spots of racism there, and its simply a contingent of the more chatty people.  those chatty people existed long LONG before any announcments of same sex romances and they go through waves. some of the old gard is still there, others have moved on, but Jacob atracts people more prone to just getting to the point, while Kaidan seems to atract a more social croud that can easily spend several pages chatting about kids, hobbies, other video games etc - still trying to keep it somewhat on topic, but... chattier.

some of us go to both threads and are fans of both characters.  Kaidan is more aproachable in some ways.  Jacob is more aloof.  Kadian has existed few years longer then Jacob and what makes him a target for s/s romancers is the fact that he was there from the start and that bioware had both Shepard actors record entirety of the dialogue, not just gender specific - which in turn allowed people to have a much smoother genderswap modding.

It would be one thing if Kaiden was simply more popular but none of that really explains why Kaiden isn't just more popular but immensely more so despite both being described similarly as "straight man" characters.

no dear. other then the horrendous voice acting by Jenifer Hale and the fact that he had to go up directly against the fan popuar Garrus (while Kaidan was the only available romansable male in ME1), their popularity is not that different. because BSN doesn't equal the rest of the fanbase. kaidan fans are simply more vocal and generally more sociable. they actually care about voting on polls while Jacob fans for the most part don't even pay attention to those silly popularity contests neither do we pay attention to quantity of pages, this is not what this thread is about. and you'll rarely see us talk of personal lives, children or any games no directly connected to Jacob in this thread.

For crying out loud. Pulling out the troll card? You know  I'm curious what angle you've imagined that I'm even coming from. Frankly I am just disappointed in the many supposedly "progressive" types on these boards who go absolutely nuts over just about  anything gay but the one black guy? Meh! No thanks, we'll pass. I don't really buy the whole "Jacob fans are just 500 pages less talkative than Kaiden fans" reasoning.   I wouldn't find an issue with his extreme unpopularity if i didn't find him to be such a likable character and one of the very few truly good people in your crew.

its the fact that you are trying to claim that the reason people like Kaidan is becasue he's white and some people want him for same sex romance.  becasue there's absolutely no way that people might actualy like him on his own merit and the reason people are not as "nuts" about Jacob is because he's black.  forgive me for thinking that you must be looking for a reaction, because if you are serious? that's even worse.

no, dear. a lot of femshep players are put off with a flirty tone Hale takes on when trying to chat with Jacob.  a lot of people are put off with his "I'm out of dialogue" phrase.  a lot of people are angry about him daring to question Thane and concidering how many people are even more angry about Kaidan daring to question them on Horizon - it not surprising.  one doesn't question Shepard.  a lot of people think he was being mean to Tali.  and even though it was actualy Tali who was mean to him, it doesn't matter, just ike it doesn't matter what Ashley's bear and the dog talk really meant - they decided that she was racist and that's that.  a lot of people think he's useless in combat just like thinking Kaidan is useless in combat when it reality they both just require proper spec and weapons. 

Jacob is a great character.  but he's not the most aproachable character to get to know once you are on the Normandy.  he's not as user friendly in combat as some of the other characters not to mention his skill set from Galaxy got ravaged and spread between other characters.  some of his best dialogue is hidden behind Jennifer Hale's terrifying voice work, and in his romance. he has to compete against "cool aliens".  he didn't get proper development and some of his writing is inconsistent due to more then one writer working on him.

Well naturally nobody would openly admit it and to be fair as with a lot of things it's probably subconcious for the most part. e.g. Hollywood filmmakers have openly stated that (largely white) audiences prefer white leading men and women which is why the overwhelming majority of them are.Of course that isn't the sole reason but I believe that it is certainly a factor in his lack of popularity.
