I love playing the game, how it changes with between scary-flashlight-in-the-dark to spanking reaper with help of a worm. Nothing will stop me from continuing playing.
Just have a feeling that there must have been some kind of crisis that made him want to find something safe, right now, and just hold on to it. If FemShep or Shepard had been around instead of being in custody they could have helped him through it perhaps. He just went from all out soldier, "I want to do something that matters even if it means working with Cerberus" to "I found something to live for and I'm not leaving". Hmm... wish we could get a letter or something from him about this explaining the situation.
Hmmm.... how I think that I will handle it. Some kind of crisis has happened to Jacob, something that really shocked him and he was in dire need of either a friend (Shepard) or his love (FemShep). The doctor and him get together, he finds some kind of stability again. She gets pregnant, it wasn't planned but he would never ever give up on his kid. He wouldn't want to be a worse dad to his kid than his own father was to him. So that puts familylife with the doctor in priority over FemShep. But he is ashamed of his actions, he has worked so hard at doing the right thing and now, it has somehow turned into him being a real jerk to FemShep. What do you sometimes do when you have really messed up, you avoid it, try not to think about it. Because it's just to much. Plus at the moment he is occupied with trying to get the people and the person who has become his new stability of that cerberus base. You take care of a guilty conscience after you know that you will live through the night. Survival first. And that's it. You run into him when he is trying to save those people who have become so important to him that he cannot leave them even to fight the reapers. He made his choice. I'm going to imagine that if they would have been able to get of that base into a safe location he would have sat down with his guilty feelings and tried to contact FemShep. Say how it is, he has got a kid and can't leave but that he knows that he has messed up and isn't proud of it. When you find him they are still fighting for survival so letter-writing isn't really top priority at that point.
Hmm.... I might have to work on it a little but I might go with something like that. Crisis, unplanned kid that he cannot leave and major guilt over messing up. Guess the kid is the thing that really breaks it of with FemShep.
Don't know, it's a start at least.
edit: I guess this will be a major thing for a FemShep that has romanced Jacob, how does she continue after this. Well she soilder on, will it be something that breaks her spirit. Will she reach out to someone new for reasurance. Sometimes these things happen in life, how will your FemShep deal with it.
