I also think a lot of people are sort of not noticing why the people who romanced Jacob are upset. It isn't because of the cheating (though it is part of it, I guess) It's because of the laziness, the lack of effort Bioware put into his cameo for 3. Along with Thane. His romance dialog in 3 is just a weird mashup of romanced and unromanced dialog that makes him come off as a smug bastard.
Which... isn't Jacob at all. In 2, he could be a little bit of a jerk. But he wasn't that outright malicious or a liar.
Blegh.I'm also irritated that Bioware apparently hated our options and limited us to Kaidan, Garrus, or Liara. And while those aren't horrible characters, it limits my options to mix up my Shepard's a bit.
Though I can't really replay Mass Effect 3 with those horrible endings anyway <_<

I did not like the Jacob character, but I have to say, that the voice actor did a GREAT job! This part is the best voice-acting in the entire game, imo.

@ Sparatus well yes, even if I would love to continue with Jacob these things really do happen. Sometimes the one we love treat us badly. And it hurts. For me it would work better if there could be a separate convo for a romanced FemShep once you come to the hospital, and perhaps there could be some nice renegade option somewhere. Just to clear the air, or to knock him silly depending on your FemShep.

So my first playthrough of ME3 was a male Shepard hoping Jacob was secretly bi. Yep. Disappointment (but not unexpected). I just started my second playthrough- a female Shepard that romanced Jacob in ME2. Now that I see he ends up with Brynn no matter what... ugh. Pass. I'm sure she's a nice girl, but she's no Shepard.
I wasn't expecting much from Jacob's role in ME3, but a continuation of the romance would have been nice. Maybe I'll try flirting with Vega again. It has to work one of these days.

I will not rest until my FemShep is with Jacob Taylor again and BioWare fixes his romance options. I would also pay to see this patched and a happy ending where Shepard and Jacob are in a bar in Rio discussing life, the end of the Reapers, and where their relationship can go.
As it is, I felt that was a slap in the face and his character was done a huge injustice. He went from being a quiet, self reliant, dedicated man to a smug jerk between the games. Did the person who wrote his character in the second game contribute to this in the third or did the person who wrote him in the third not see the second game? I'm awful curious.
