No. Rather, many of us noticed that the action of cheating on a significant other is rather out of character for Jacob and most of us are angry about that. The Jacob in Mass Effect 2 was an extremely honest guy who was stable and had the decency to not backstab someone--especially not Shepard, and especially not in the context of a romantic relationship [should she decide to take that route with him].

Mass Effect 3 was supposed to be our Shepard's personal journey, and for some of us that included a romance with Jacob. For others it meant a decent friendship with Jacob and maybe even a few drinks together [either as friends or not as friends; take your pick]. Shame that neither of these things happened, and to top that off [for romancers], it was done in a manner that was offensive and insulting to those fans. As to why, we have ideas, but don't really feel to blame anyone and choose to simply mourn ME2!Jacob.

As for me personally, I decided to mentally retcon it. But it would be far better if it were actually fixed in canon [come on, it's not exactly as if he does much of anything in-game anyway].

Ah, so you are afraid of people asking questions then.

That's too bad.

Atleast the people in another thread about this guy weren't afraid of questions being asked, and I got some mature answers, and not this crap that I'm getting here.

And your answer doesn't even make sense. Or I'm just not enough of a nerd to understand it.

If you read what ahlvister actually wrote back in reply a few posts above...that WAS the mature answer. If you somehow still cant understand it, please read again.

That is the nicest I'll be for a reply.

Both of them actually. (that I quoted) were not.

The reason we gave you short answer is that you barged into this thread not having read one iota of the previous pages of conversation on this subject. Ever since ME3 came out, we have discussed what we feel was an assassination of one of our favorite characters in the series. If you had read anything in the previous 1-15 pages, you would know that.

But your first post assumed that we didn't have a problem with what had occured with Jacob in ME3. The way it was phrased was insulting, and made it obvious that you had made no effort to familiarize yourself with this thread's recent history before posting in it. Hence the snappiness.

And the "One" joke was an addon to the "Go away" comment, referencing KOTOR(Knights of the Old Republic) character Calo Nord. Specifically this particular incident:  Sorry if that wasn't clear. We at the Jacob thread are taking any laughs we can get. There isn't much to be happy about here.

^Caston sometimes people get lazy from time to time to look up the information needed to make a proper response. I can give him/her the benefit of the doubt they didn't read due to time constraints...without flinging mud.

But you are right that he should of put more effort into it to understand us fans, who are right now the laughing stocks because we like/love a 'boring' character, so of course its easier to take pot shots and join the crowd.
Granted if anyone takes a shot at the more popular characters it be a holy war of epic fandom craziness.

So steering this back into our appreciation, and funeral rites for dear ME2 Jacob...hmmm weird idea but if anyone cares: It is Jacobs funeral and your the honored speaker. What would you say about him that made yuo appreciate him? *grabs tissues*

As far as I'm concerned, he freaking cheated on you, whereas Garrus and Thane are essentially pining for you and waiting for you to come back. He'll get no sympathy from me.

Hey, Jacob Fans! Glad you are still alive! :P

We have just finished Act 1 of our comic project "The Secrets of the mysterious Relic".

Between the events of ME2 and 3, Miranda leads a secret operation to a yet unknown world. Jacob will play a big role in the plot, so I thought you might be interested...

Thats the thing concerning that...bad writing. and if they arent going to fix it, much to my chargrin, I atleast want an option to punch him or verbal beat down that he's just like his dad, and not have my ME1 LI trying to pick up the pieces.

frankly I was hoping for closure that wasnt on the line of "How about a quickie?" or "Oh its..ok..fine. So I guess I'll help you guys live."
Again it's ME2 jacob we mourn...ME3 Jacob is like a casting job change up gone wrong.

Bad writing seems to be more of a key feature in ME3 than 'taking back Earth'. Well, unless you are one of the priviledged few. :(

My problem with Jacob wasn't even Jacob. It was FemShep's varren in heat attitude. That's in both games btw. Even worse in ME3 with the pathetic "gimme a kiss baby" scenario. *rolls eyes* Just pathetic and not MY Shep.

LOL @ Varren in heat. Seriously, you just made me laugh out loud.

To be honest, I loved my FemShep being so confident and seeing Jacob get all shy and confused. I chuckled quite a few times. On the other hand, I still can't get over not being able to sock it to Brynn for having the nerve to admit she intentionally stole my man from me and got knocked up by him after we'd been out of contact -for only six months, if that? That's the one thing I did hate about the cinematic animation system.

A thought, bear with me:

If Jacob was that unpopular, why wasn't he killed off during the Cerberus scientist rescue attempt?

Not that I'm wishing his death, because no LI should die, I'm just questioning BW choices. There was no reason for them to do the character assassination on Jacob, just as it was to completely forget about Thane.

If they really had to take away Jacob as an LI, I'm sure Jacob dying in character saving Shepard would be a lot palatable to Jacob fans then the borderline stereotypical crap we got in ME3. But no, we get a guy that wasn't anything like ME2's Jacob.

See, there's not having time to look through, and then there's not looking at all. And if his post had been respectful to begin with, I wouldn't have been snappy. But it felt insulting to me, since it implied we didn't mind Jacob's behavior in ME3. Whoever his post was directed at, it wasn't any of the Jacob fans in THIS thread. And if he'd read any one page since ME3(not a time-consuming task), he would have known this.

Also, I'm up for causing craziness if you are. Granted, we'll be like the two people in front of town square chanting about how the old, abandoned warehouse on the corner shouldn't have been torn down. Nobody cares.

Me: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to pay our final respects to ME2 Jacob...
ME2 Jacob: I'm not dead....
Me: No, no, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
Bioware: Now, now, he says he's not dead!
Me: No, but he is in ME3.
Bioware: Well I can't take him like that. It's against EA regulations.
ME2 Jacob: I think I'll throw up a barrier....
Me: You're not fooling anyone! *turns to Bioware* Look, isn't there something you can do?
ME2 Jacob: I feel happy!!! I feeeeel happpyyyyy *get's shotguned by Bioware*
Me: Ah, thanks very much.
Bioware: No problem. See you Thursday.

Yeah that is true...but pyscho is so much more fun than weave pulling pulling, face scratching, stomach punching, neck strutting holler contest that is ABW...or just the ones around my neighborhood. Frankly I think reecent ABW during my lifetime does range in the crazy*** area.

Still I can go on dreaming for a renegade punch and scream out "You lying wh*re" at jacob, then save him only to cut him down to 3 inches with a verbal beatdown that make Javik smile.

Seems you need to broaden your ABW repertoire; defaming his size seems more likely than a full-blown mutilation. That would fall squarely into the psycho trope, and given the circumstances I don't even think ABW applies here. Your description sounds more like the average JS guest. *admits that Amenark watches the show religiously*

LOL I was actually talking about the ABW neck thing (is there a proper name for it) that starts in when the volume goes up.

I only live in New Zealand. I'm from Omaha, Nebraska. Benson to be exact. North side rules!

I agree with you there.

This character assassination is a big betrayal.
They better off kept him like he was in ME2 and get him canonical death.
