Ok, now that that's out of the way here is the problem :

I re-installed ME2 and all the DLC a while ago, cuz I wanted to do a full playthrough as a Paragon. I imported my ME1 save as well.

I got to the Citadel fairly early and recruited Kasumi before Jack, Thane, Samarra, Mordin, and Tali. I tried to do her loyalty mission right after recruiting her. I get all the way through the mission, looking at everything you can interact with and making all paragon choices. I tell her to keep the graybox. The mission over screen comes up. I hit the exit button. Screen goes black, game hangs, and I get "Mass Effect 2 has stopped working and needs to be closed" or something similar. Ok, so restarted ME2, chose to restart the mission, chose "It's what he wanted" instead, same crash. Then I decided to disable audio, run windowed, all quality options at minimum in game and in the Nvidia panel. Same problem. I even tried all of this with the game ran as Administrator and setting the CPU affinity to 1 core, and I tried it with each of the 4 cores. No luck.

Now I am stuck in the game because I decided to skip the quest and ran around the galaxy and completed every single other quest available. I have the IFF, but it was the last quest I did and now the game says I have to do N7 quests while waiting for the IFF to be integrated into my ship. Well, the Kasumi loyalty quest is the ONLY quest left to do. I have been to every single cluster and scanned every single planet. I finished Overlord, Firewalker, LotSB,
Zaeed's quest, and the Normandy Crash Site. I even tried doing all the Investment Opportunties on the Shadow Broker's Lair to see if that would trigger quest progress to allow me to use the Omega 4 relay. Nope. Nothing worked.

I even tried using a save editor to mark Kasumi as loyal and alt appearance unlocked and all that, but the quest still stays unfinished cuz I CAN'T finish it.

If anyone can tell me how to fix or bypass this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

Summary - Kasumi loyalty mission crashes EVERY TIME NO MATTER THE SETTINGS/CHOICES when at the quest completion screen. Cannot enter Omega 4 relay because of this bug not allowing the game to recognize progression to open Omega 4 relay.

EDIT: I just tried again, and noticed that when I hit the button to close the mission and return to Normandy, the screen goes to black, the loading screen music starts, and then the Achievement sound (or tech upgrade/misc.) sound plays. I think this may be the problem. The game is trying to load the Normandy or whatever comes after the mission AND apply the achievement of getting Kasumi's loyalty and play the sound and graphic for the achievement at the same time. I think this causes the crash. Hope this helps anyone who can tell me how to fix/bypass it.

1) Shouldn't matter if this is the only place it crashes, but if you haven't upgraded the Realtek audo driver it can cause issues, because the one from Win7 stinks.

2) You might try removing the DLC from the bioware folder in Program files, delete the download save, clear cache, and redownload the dlc from bioware. You may have gotten a corrupted file on dl or use.

Edit note:  The 275 family of video drivers from nvidea are very bad on crashes right now.  You may also try rolling back to something around 258-260 area.

I have the latest Realtek drivers installed, and I tried uninstalling and deleting the DLC, and redownloading and reinstalling. No luck.

I'm relatively sure it's not the video drivers either. I remember having this problem last year too, but I don't think I was able to fix it then either. But I did the IFF mission before a bunch of other ones, and had no problem with being stuck not being able to use the Omega 4 relay.

How many missions have you had the Reaper IFF?? And the Crew still hasn't be abducted?? You generally only get a few missions depending on when you go get it. If it is late you only get 2 missions, ie Legion's loyalty and one other. If you go early then you get some more, but generally speaking you don't get that many. So I am wondering if there is more going on in this.

As an off the wall question, do you have Arrival??
Have you tried reinstalling the 1.02 update?
Do you run in XP sp3 compatiblity mode as well as Admin?

Crashing in the one spot is normally indicative of a corrupt file, or corrupted save game.

The two things I would try are;
Uninstall/reinstall of the actual game itself, or verifying the chache integrity if its a Steam copy of the game. Or;
Load up a new game top test it out, go get Kasumi as soon as you are on board the Normandy and do her loyalty mission right away.

If it crashes after a reinstall, it menas its a save game corruption. If it crashes on a new game, it means its a game file corruption. If it crashes after both, then we'll have to put on our thinking caps and take another look at possible causes.

Well, I did not have arrival, so I went ahead and got Arrival. Got it installed, loaded my save and was able to complete Arrival. Upon doing so, I was able to do Legion's quest, and was finally able to enter the Omega 4 relay and finish the game. Still didn't allow me to finish the Kasumi quest though.

To answer the above questions, yes I reinstalled the update, I tried XP sp3 compat mode as well as other compat modes, uninstalling/reinstalling won't help as this issued happened like 10 months ago on a playthrough, with fewer DLC installed and on different hardware. I redownloaded Kasumi and reinstalled it as well back then. I've tried doing her mission as immediately as possible, and I've tried doing it at random times throughout playing. I vaguely recall that somehow I got it to work last time, now that I think about it, but I can't for the life of me remember how.

Anyway, from now on I will just not do her quest and use a save editor to flag her as loyal after I'm ready to hit the relay (on subsequent playthroughs, cuz I want paragon, renegade and middle of the road saves for ME3).

If anyone thinks of anything else, I'll give it a try and post the results. Thanks for all the input so far.
