Hey guys, I'm brand new to this site (so go easy on me, if this is the wrong forum, please just direct me to the right one), and I originally came here for one purpose, to help decide who I would romance in ME2 (for the purposes of having the best experience in ME3).
In ME1, I romanced Liara, and after I heard about ME3, I decided to have a "perfect" play through of ME2 for my canon Shepard. However there is one decision I can't seem to make, and that is whether or not I should romance Tali, or stay with Liara.
Please post why you chose/are staying with one character over another (that would help me greatly).

liara is a far more interesting character. i'd say go with her.
she's also actually useful gameplay-wise.
and from a roleplay perspective the shepard-tali romance is doomed due to frustrations and sickness. tensions will snowball and it'll end badly. well unless you get some ultra cheesy fanfiction where she's cured of her immune system.
shepard and laira would actually be happy, and they can have kids. so happily ever after is believable for them.

That more or less is what I'm thinking. I was leaning a lot more towards Liara, because I like her as a character. But I wanted to see why people would choose Tali.Clonedzero wrote...

Liara has been served with considerable doses of developer favouritism. Her romance is far from my favourite, but in overall terms of quantity of content she cannot be matched.
I would advise you to romance whoever you like most, but if you cannot pick that way and want the "best experience" throughout the games then go with Liara.

Why not both? We've plenty time for two playthroughs of ME2.
