 I hope bioware do not just add ME1 characters and a couple of ME3 characters as full squad members because of many reasons that will be stated below

1. - Lack of time to build up new characters considering a reaper invasion is on going.

2. - In general the ME1 characters lack the same depth and opportunity for further expansion as ME2 characters.

3. - Reduces the potential insult to those who romanced with ME2 characters but did not with ME1 or did but prefer ME2 romance (I am in that category)

4 - More variation with the ME2 squad mates considering you have Salarians, Dwell and of course the Geth, (I doubt ME3 can create new characters to match this level of variation)

5. - Increases the potential Banter between your previous squad mates in both games having as many of them on board. (especially if 2 LI's are on board)

6. - Greater potential dialogue with such characters are much greater than non LI's.

7. - Enough Characters in the ME series as it is (does not need any more), even Casey Hudson once said he felt ME2 had too many characters which adding more for ME3 will not make sense for resolving this.

8. - More efficient to use previous characters than create all new ones (will improve the development of such characters further than creating all new characters)

9. - improves the work time if less characters are added (as new) considering designing, voicing and animations will take up precious space and time for the creating of ME3.

10. - more effect from ME2 decisions if more of the ME2 characters due to it making it harder to finish ME3

I will say that I do not expect every single ME2 character to make it as full squad members in ME3 simply because of how they can fit in the story or simply a lack of popularity to warrant it.

But I hope for atleast all the LI's to be able to be full squad members in ME3.

If it causes problems I would be happy with just the character if you did romance with in ME2 join the crew or even give the gamer the opportunity to pick and mix who he/she has on the crew from those who survived the suicide mission.

i know all the squad members there is ash/kaiden whoever survived
garrus if he survived suicide mission
tali if she survived
liara
and a new person called james vega i think its right

but you will run into people from the mass effect 2 squad if they survived and wrex if he survived in mass effect 1 i also heard kelly chambers is in it if she survived not 2 sure if shes apart of the crew or not

who knows maybe Bioware's "changes to the script" have to do with adding more ME2 squadmates as permanent. I seriously doubt it, but one can hope. I agree with the whole choosing your squad bit. Replayibility would be amazing and it would really give the player the sense of "this is truly your story!"Hell from the leak we only have seven squadmates. they could easily add two ME2 squadies to the mix to keep the fans that started with ME2 and everyone else happy. Plus I'd love Legion, Mordin, and Wrex/Grunt on my squad again. Jack can come too if there's enough spots
