Alternatively we can also get some creative projects going. I may be able to help with that.
EDIT: The forum is currently closed for the weekend while some things get sorted out. I will be monitoring the Kasumi group here if anyone wants to continue discussion until this is all straigthened out.

It is a shame that we didn't get more of Kasumi in ME3 (although I did enjoy her inclusion in the Citadel dlc greatly!) as in truth, I found her to be one of my favourite characters. It would have been superb if we could have had conversations with her on the Normandy too.

Owl! You're back!! ![]()
This is an interesting turn of events. I've been gone for a while myself, only checking the story forum once in a blue moon out of boredom. But a few days ago I went back to that short I wrote years ago, which got me thinking about Kasumi more again. And now I check back on the off-chance and here you are...
The Kasumi fandom may yet rise again!

Of course Kasumi fandom will rise again Cricket, cos' she's awesome!
How have you been?...I decided to do another ME round, a little Shep character exploration, completed an ME1 Shep for exportation a couple of days back and just picked up our favorite Thief a couple of hours ago and enjoying the heck out of her
...really missed her banter, she'll be accompanying Shep on every Mission of course
Came to the Forums to see how the winds blowing, is so quiet here now days huh O.o... Are you waiting for ME4? I eventually got over my ME3 ending debacle dummy spit and am curiousity crept up about what ME4 is gonna be about, I would love something along the lines of a Firefly kinda feel about it, you have any thoughts on ME4?
Is good to see you again Cricket... I had hoped you would still be around, was disheartened to see no action in our Kasumi Thread, thought you gone
... Are Turian and Ghost still around, do you know?

Indeed it will lol. I've been alright. Kinda moved on from Mass Effect. The pleasant memories and subsequent disappointment remain but the passion (and later rage) have mostly smoldered out. I went back to The Old Republic for a while, finally managed to tear myself away from that now, though I was at least able to get through all the stories due to a nifty XP bonus. But I have been thinking more and more about Kasumi lately, enough to lazily drift back here. And I'm glad I did, I missed our conversations. How have you been?
Though I don't get worked about about it as much anymore my position on Mass Effect hasn't changed. I want nothing to do with future ME games, especially if they insist on setting them after ME3. I've been burned enough and I want no part in further destruction of my choices, which any sequel will have to do. The endings are far too diverse to work around. If you try you marginalize if you don't you outright override it. As **** as it was, we should at least keep something. But more money is to be wrung out of this franchise so what can you do?
Otherwise I'm guessing the ME forums are quiet because everyone's over gushing about Dragon Age and truthfully, most things we could say have been said already. I've been gone awhile so I haven't had contact with anyone from the old days from any thread. There are some names I recognize in Story and Campaign but no one I regularly engaged with.
Ah, but we're back. We'll keep the life in this thread. Kasumi is never gone, she's just hiding!

This has been the lock screen on my phone since I got it two years ago. Never changing it.

Yes, when it comes to gaming I stayed buried in Skyrim, has a very long play life due to Modding, can create all kinds of diverse stories with them in that world space. Had to toss in the games for some time though, RL taking many new turns... nearly ended up your neighbor last May

Nice! Totally come to Canada, for any reason! I'm in Ontario which is still pretty chill.
I've actually gotten into Oblivion believe it or not. I played it for a bit way back in high school but didn't get very far. Saw it on sale on Steam and with my Skyrim experience it was quite the appealing bargain. It has its ups and downs. It's nigh unplayable with vanilla facial textures but once I downloaded an improvement mod I was able to make a pretty good Dark Elf (a mix between my original one and my Skyrim guy, though he's much more lawful and mortal lol).
On ME4 the argument people always make against side stories is that they won't matter and why should they care about x's personal goal y when we know the galaxy gets screwed up later. To that I say watch the Hobbit movies. As someone who's never read the Hobbit (I did read the LOTR trilogy in high school) and is mostly just going off the movies, would I be justified in saying "pfft, why should I care about some dwarf mountain when I know Sauron's gonna come back and wreck everything"? No, I'd have my head up my ass. After seeing the last Hobbit movie it occurred to me that Smaug felt like a far more effective villain than Sauron simply because he was better characterized. You saw what he could do, you got his motivations and it was all very well realized. Even though the stakes and scale were smaller, Smaug was more exciting a threat than Sauron or any of his flunkies ever were. Usually I'm all about the grand stakes and all encompassing powers. But a smaller scale story can hit all the right beats just as well, provided it's well written and executed. And a personal story is all about the characters. People who say a prequel/midquel side story would be boring show no faith in Bioware's ability to create characters and make us care about them (arguably still one of their chief strengths). And it's ironic because a lot of those people are still the drones who otherwise say they can do no wrong.
Even my post control headcanon which explodes with details about pretty much everything still then narrows down and focuses on individual stories. Oh and I do believe you'd enjoy at least the idea of what I have planned for Kasumi. Weirdly enough it was Citadel who saved her future for me.

Not sure I've ever shown my support for Kasumi in this thread, I should have anyway, always liked her.
Although I really like Ashley, Kasumi has always been my second favorite female companion in the series. Love her, she's awesome. If she would have been a LI I would definately go for her.
I think everything has been said that needs to be said about her. Funny, sexy, sensitive, emotionally involved but also down to earth at times. I wish they had given her more screen time in ME3.
This probably has been linked before:

Ontario huh
Oblivion was the very first Game I played
I hear what you're saying about the Hobbit, I have read all the Books and agree with you about Smaug also, he has been very well realized, beautifully bought to life. Though on the other hand I think if BW tried to create a Protagonist as universally influential as Shep, then I would be tempted to agree with the dissenters that a midquel would a bad idea, though I am also personally hoping the ME4 Protagonist will not be the 'be all end all' Shep was... thus my wish for something 'Fireflyish'. As for a prequel, yes, not something universe shaking, but more local like Smaugs Mountain.
You hit the nail on the head with my one great interest in ME4, the characters BW brings to life... I would call character creation BW's cornerstone in game quality
Speaking of which though, I never did buy the Citadel DLC, Kasumi gets attention in it? Now I am intrigued

Oh, you haven't played the Citadel dlc Stayfrosty? It's probably the best dlc in the whole series, for me at least. Very much worth it. It's basically a big fanservice from Bioware, but a very good one.
To me it represents the importance of the relationships you build with your crew over the course of the three games.

I originally didn't bother to get it for two reasons, as far as I had been aware the DLC was primarily for romanced Sheps, as my Shep had remained unromanced I saw no point in paying for content I wouldn't be using...as for the second reason, was still in the prime of my ME3 ending dummy spitOh, you haven't played the Citadel dlc Stayfrosty? CrutchCricket...I wrote you a long reply the other day, but the Tablet lost it as I was posting it O.o...
...so now trying again
Ontario huh...I'm looking at June/July this year for my next try on Canada, where I will be heading is Alberta, in the south, rural, over an hour south east of Calgary...but Toronto has been suggested to me as my international arrival Airport
Oblivion was the very first Game I played...at the time I thought it looked pretty nice and that was on an XBox lol...though I did find I preferred a male Dark Elf in appearance, with a lot of shadowing around his eyes, etc...I was able to make him look somewhat more realistic than I could any other race, made him look pretty damned dark and renegade though
... he was a lot less... ummm... interesting, than my Skyrim dude though lol

Speaking of which though, I never did buy the Citadel DLC, Kasumi gets attention in it? Now I am intrigued... would you recommend getting it Cricket? I am VERY looking forward to seeing what you have planned for Kasumi... any idea when it will be ready? Please keep me informed on it, am very interested
I work in Toronto these days. World's getting smaller lol.
Oblivion looked great when I first saw it, and it's still decent looking now. But the faces... the NPCs aren't bad but the faces you can make... With most character creators you really have to break the sliders to the extremes to make some nonhuman looking things. With Oblivion that's the rule, not the exception. Even before I got into the Elder Scrolls the things I always remembered from Oblivion was riding a horse with a katana and the unholy things that can come out of pushing even one slider just too far in character create.
I wouldn't think you need someone as influential as Shepard. And even if you do, it all goes back to scale. Shepard may be able to fly around the galaxy and persuade every species to do things his way but if our new story's only set on one planet and focuses on one particular group, the new protagonist can be just as influential relatively to his setting. Make it a personal story, focus on the characters and make us care about them. If you must tie it in to the greater story take a side detail we took for granted the first time around and tell a story about what it took the "side characters" to obtain it.
As for Citadel... it's hard to describe. On the one hand it's cheezy but not unbearably so. It's also pretty lighthearted and campy and makes jokes at its own expense. It's fun and fanservice-y to the max. It's also empty calories though and doesn't really do anything to address the errors of the main game. It's main appeal, more time with the squad is mostly quantity over quality. And as far as Kasumi specifically, some things make me chuckle but I'm still disappointed. She's still barely in it and some things I'm still in disbelief over. What "saved" it for me is the main plot of Citadel because it allowed me to solve a previous post-ending problem I had re: Kasumi and Shep. Not sure how much I can say without spoiling or if you care about spoilers.
Ultimately my recommendation of Citadel is indecisive. I can't say that you should definitely get it or not get it. I got it for completeness' sake and I did enjoy the humor. But I do think once its novelty wears off there's not much left.

Last name origin & meaning:
Japanese (Gotō): ‘later wisteria’, indicating descendants of the Fujiwara clan through various branches. This name occurs chiefly along the southeastern seaboard of Japan and in the Ryūkyū Islands.
Last Name Origin & Meaning - Goto
Interesting.
So Kasumi appears to be descended from a cadet branch of an old noble family, and might be from either eastern Kyushu or Okinawa.
Fujiwara clan (藤原氏 Fujiwara-uji or Fujiwara-shi?), descending from the Nakatomi clan and through him Ame-no-Koyane-no-Mikoto, was a powerful family of regents in Japan.
The clan originated when the founder, Nakatomi no Kamatari (614–669), was rewarded by Emperor Tenji with the honorific "Fujiwara", which evolved as a surname for Kamatari and his descendants. In time, Fujiwara became known as a clan name.
The Fujiwara dominated the Japanese politics of Heian period (794–1185) through the monopoly of regent positions, sesshō and kampaku. The family's primary strategy for central influence was through the marrying of Fujiwara daughters to emperors. Through this, the Fujiwara would gain influence over the next emperor who would, according to Japanese family tradition, owe loyalty to his grandfather. As abdicated Emperors took over power by exercising insei (院政, cloistered rule) at the end of 11th century, then followed by the rise of warrior class, the Fujiwara gradually lost its control over mainstream politics.
Beyond the 12th century, they continued to monopolize the titles of sesshō and kampaku for much of the time until the system was abolished in the Meiji era. Though their influence declined, the clan remained close advisors to the succeeding Emperors.
