I still think we should take these a few at a time but a couple of things about this:

Well, we do see what she is under the hood. not literally of course, but regarding her personality. Remember the red tose, and all the books she has. Another interesting thing is, that of all his stuff, none was stolen by her. She probably feels alone. That's why she built a bar into her room. To attract more people there. Oh, and if you look at her commant on the Kelly romance, you can see that she is BI.
There were a few things that were stolen. The bust for one and one of the paintings I think. There may've been more. Also I doubt she built a bar in a ship that for all she knew was only a temporary setup. More likely that observation deck was always a lounge with a bar and what appears to be some kind of recreational machine (video game terminal?) Although how she got a bed and bookcase in there is a mystery.
Well yeah, she is more of a ninja then a simple thief. But works as one because she's too nice to be an assasin. Most logical would be running away from an abusive stepfather, living as a street urchin. There she could have developed her skills in stealingto get food. And one day, she found shelter from the rain in an abandoned house. Which was not abandoned at all, but the secret HQ of a ninja clan.
Maybe she finds killing people for money distasteful? She'd also be great at espionage but maybe she dislikes that too. She is a thief by choice. But I wish we'd stay away from daddy issues though there's already enough characters with those (Miranda, Jacob, Garrus). Also she loves being a thief so I don't know if being forced to cut it as a street urchin would work since that could very well be the most miserable part of her life. I think she lived a normal middle class life with her grandmother (the only family she mentions) but she either got bored of it and started stealing for thrills or began doing so when her grandmother passed away. Regardless of which she was old enough, a teenager at least. One day she stole something of value from a wise ninja master who despite catching her was impressed with her skills and offered to train her how to be truly invisible. Her grandmother's morals and positive outlook and the master's discipline shaped her into what we see today.
I'm waay to lasie to scroll vack to xour previous post. Sorry. Wel her loyalty mission is among the 2 most personal ones, along with Samara, and Thane. After all they went through together, it is impossible for them, not to have feelings for each other. Of course, things go slowly like in a proper romance. So far, ME romances were like: I have been flirting with you for a week since we met, so let's ****. Except for Garrus and Tali. Speaking of which. I think her sisrer like wiev on Tali was very well written. Tali should have had lines about her too. Even Joker likes Kasumi. The Normady crew is one big happy family. Jacob is only a crush for her. True love is brought by the others personality, and I find the waste dispenser is Zaeed's room waaaaaay more interesting than Mr Taylor.
Basically since I took her on just about every mission and always talked to her afterwards I began to see Kasumi as the squadmate Shepard depends on most. Everyone does their job and Shepard trusts them all after a time. But not the same way as he does Kasumi (even the ME1 gang. Garrus is too bitter about his lost squad and too lost in his calibrations and Tali just sprung this adoration on him and he's not sure what to do with it). In my mind Kasumi's ability to read people and the way you helped her with the graybox showed her Shepard is a kindred spirit and can be trusted and for Shepard's part, he relies more and more on her, not just for the mission but also in observing the rest of Normandy's crew. She's his eyes, ears and right hand. This is beautifully exempified on Jack's recruitment mission: "I'd take the offer honey. Otherwise things turn bad for you. Fast". I absolutely love that line because it's exactly what I'm imagining Kasumi to be. If Shepard were a villain she'd be his Dragon.
I don't see romance as necessary. The above relationship is perfect and will develop into a beautiful friendship (if ME3 doesn't screw that up). She's the only female on the Normandy he doesn't hit on because they both know they've reached perfect equilibrium. Besides my Shep's with Miranda and though Kasumi doesn't approve of the engine room I have no doubt she'd jump in to help the relationship with no hesitation (provided she felt her help was welcome). I like her and Tali getting along, but really she'd get along with anybody. Don't know about the "happy family bit" though. And yes I think Jacob's just a crush and a distraction from Keji. Why doesn't she distract herself with Shepard? See above for the "perfect equillibrium"
I'll cut it off here because this might already take up half a page:P
