She joins your squad for THAT mission I assume? Whether she joins you aboard the Normandy or not is unknown yet, am I right?
People are referring to it as a ''special'' mission. I wonder why.

Back on topic: I saw 2 different drafts and neither gives a pretty big role for Kasumi. Of course the first one didn't mention half of the squad.
The spinoff is a greath idea I think, A Thief or splinter cell like game but I still want someone for Mechler Shepard.
Another thing that could be nice(but rather unlikly) is for Shepard to be caught and put in an Alliance/Cerberus/Batarian/Whatever prison and we go with Kasumi(as the squad leader) in an Arrival like mission. You know like Kotor 2 and Dragon Age: Origins.
Hell Now I'm at two missions. I could write a whole game about Kasumi and Shep(New Bioware game:The Adventures of Helena and Solomon Gunn).

Hate to spoil the fun, but I haven't seen any implication that Kasumi could join your sqaud beyond this one mission. At least not in this leaked script.
Also as much I would want Kasumi to become full time squadmate........ it's extremely unlikely if not totally impossible. Especially if your whole squad survived from SM. Now if Kasumi (and someone else) are only ones to survive, then Kasumi had higher chances (though even then they are slim) to become full-time squadmate.

Continuation/resolution of greybox plot
Character growth and development- we would like to see Kasumi's character expanded while keeping some of her mystique, quirky humor and insightfulness
If that leaked script is any indicator, then BW had thought about this matters.

I wouldn't go expecting Kasumi to join you beyond a single mission she helps out with. They are cutting down on squad members and since she wasn't in the first game and wasn't a love interest in the second game and she's not a new character so she has almost zero chance of being a permanant squad member.
I believe on the contrary that not being a love interest is a great thing : writers don't have to deal with possible romance, non-romance or cheating issues from the previous game.
And even if she is not a "new" character, she is a DLC character, without large amount of interaction and conversation with Shepard except during the Loyalty Mission.
Those two points are major advantages for her, as writers just have to fill the (almost) blank page of the Kasumi's story in Mass Effect, without the same constraints as the other characters from both ME1 and ME2.

Excellent points! I hadn't thought of it that way, that her lack of personal content in ME2 could be advantageous to her in ME3. This should be added to the semi-polished list we've got going:ScrapperSteph wrote...

Those two points are major advantages for her, as writers just have to fill the (almost) blank page of the Kasumi's story in Mass Effect, without the same constraints as the other characters from both ME1 and ME2.
Additonal Advantages:
- Significant screentime for Kasumi, including maximum possible squad time.
- Maximum level of interaction including but not limited to full dialogue, banter and optional romance arc.
- Continuation/resolution of greybox plot
- Character growth and development- we would like to see Kasumi's character expanded while keeping some of her mystique, quirky humor and insightfulness
-Adding Kasumi to ME3 is less complicated than other ME2 characters due to her lack of interaction in ME2. There are no romance variables and very little backstory to keep track of. This allows writers nearly the same freedom in developing her character as they would have in creating a new one and with an established fanbase both dev team and fans get the best of both worlds

While a male shepard there is no human teammate. Unless... You saved Ashey from ME1.

I hate to say it but why is the Female Shepard can have two human (male) in there squad team? One where if you saved Kaiden Alenko he will be in your team. And this next new guy character James Vega will be automatically added into your teammate addition and if i am not mistaken it is also a bi love interest (female and male shepard) What!?
While a male shepard there is no human teammate. Unless... You saved Ashey from ME1.
This only matters for LIs not for team build. ME2 had three human females and only two human males... but they weren't equally proportioned for romance.
So if there's an shortage of females LI-wise it doesn't mean they have to be human or on the squad. You could also get a Kelly situation.

For sure, better than the Alien who will die from sleeping with you some day, the other alien who will outlive you by at least 900 years, the human female that shows me why the Alliance military is crap, Little miss perfect, or the crazy called ****.
Short of her or some yet unknown female options for a male, I wouldn't take any of the ones we have. Maybe I'll set Shepard up as a new Emperor, where the state is his wife >>. But yeah so far Kasumi was the only one I seen that was charming and not either a dunce, a ****, or a ho.

For example: She was not in ME1-------Garrus and Tali were the only love interests that were.
She was a DLC character-----------Anders(not the serial killer. well actually...) says hello. From DLC charcter he became a BI love interest. Oh and Zaeed was also a DLC character but since Zaeed was free it shows that the Kasumi DLC is something special. Also let's not forget that she was planned to be in the vanilla version.
.Both Shepards have enough love interests.-------True but half of those are revolting. And btw there are some(not me) who want to have and expanded Kasumi but don't care about romance(and yes I said romance, not have sex with her once)
This is all I can think of

The Anders situation does fill me with hope. I think BioWare recognizes the potential popularity for her if she had a full dialogue wheel and romance. If she wasn't DLC a lot more people would give her a chance.
That's good to know. Kasumi's moving on up.
