It's a pity; out of all the characters, Kasumi would be the best LI. Fun personality, awesome stories, intelligence, sanity (this is a big one, considering some of your crew : P ).

Fortunately, her pluses also make her excellent friend material, so as long as we can maintain a friendship with her, I'm all good.

Honestly I don't see any logical reason why would Bioware exclude Kasumi and trade her for She-spoiler, Diana and that two other crew members. Imagine someone who loves cats and hates dogs. This person asks for a cat for birthday/christmas/whatever and gets four dogs instead. Makes no sense. This is not blizzard who we are talking about, who gives recycled content and fat pandas reregardless of the nature of the complains. As Leonidas would say: THIS IS BIOWAREEEEE! They are rewriting the last damned book. Of course romancing Chakwas Wrex or Legion is riddiculous, but there is nothing to support the exclusion of KAsumi and we are a the front page fro most of the times. Oh and we were never "moderated" so we are the elite of the fans. Bioware would not ignore us. They are not like that.

Because Garrus and Tali are much more popular than Kasumi and have been there since ME1. BW also screwed up by introducing way too many characters in ME2. Considering the squad you'll have in ME3, it's obvious that the ME2 squad was little more than just filler, since none of the ten characters introduced in ME2 are permanent squadmates or cameos. We should be glad that she didn't just get some meaningless or poorly written cameo, or worse, is simply an e-mail in ME3.

As for Diana, considering that the character's face and voice are those of Jessica Chobot, who's a host on IGN, which would indicate that she's there appeal to new fans of the series. In other words, Diana is nerd bait. The two crew members you mentioned are probably Steve something and Samantha Traynor. They are there for the people who wanted s/s romances and I'm glad that they are getting them. In fact, I need to make a FemShep for Samantha Traynor, but I'm kind of bored of ME2. I still have yet to complete this one Insanity playthrough, and starting another game kind of chaps my ass.

And as for BW not ignoring its fans, well I get the feeling that it's pretty much EA that are calling some of the shots here. EA is only interested in implementing what'll be popular to be able to sell more units. They are a corporation and their priority is to maximize profits.

The upside is that we are probably amongst the least whiniest of the fanbases out there, so that's something, you know. Just trying to keep things positive despite the circumstances.

I'm not going to say its all EA,   I have been thinking about this for a while  now and really thing  with ME 2  Bioware did not expect as many people to as completionist as they were and keep every single crew member alive. I think they did some guess work  and who  the fans would keep alive and it  backfired.   On top of the fact that the man plot of ME 2 was little on the weak side while the character side stories were pretty strong and Bioware go  caught with there pants down.  Now they are stuck because the never expected to have write in 14  continuing characters into the story.   Lack of foresight strikes again.

As far Chobot... I don't know what think about this whole thing... people give Felica Day flak but her resume' is bit more extenstive than Chobot.  Day has done  voice work and acting before, has produced her own  on going web series.  Chobot...  not so much.  Did  they need to make the report look like her and then sound like her? No.  I'm still in wait and see mode  but what really going to tell  the true is the writing and the lines she gets.

Meanwhile... our lovable space ninja thief is out with  Thane on an assassination - which better be some high ranking Cerebus offical that ties into the main plot of the game or many tables are going to flip  by me.

P.S. not reading the leak script... I have held out this longs a few more weeks are not  going kill me.

True, but since Garrus and Tali are the only ones who were full squadies in both ME 1 and 2 its not that hard to beat someone who was only in 2, without a dialogue wheel. I think we are doing just fine. I don't really care wether it's Greg Zeschuk or John Riccitiello who gives the order, as long as it is given. Naturally I wil lbuy it regardless of Kasumi's involvement, but I'll remember which developers/studios/publishers can make games withoutr dissapointing me. CD Project RED produced an epic fial. So did Blizz. This will be the big moment for Bioware(or at least team). Of course if it's not than it wil lbe pinned on the lack of Drew Karpyshyrn. I know why my favourite Awakening Squadie, Anders tuerned into a terrorist who hates you if you don't like buttsex ,when we reapeared in DA2(David Gaider wasn't the one writing the character the second time)

um... huh... I played a straight male  hawk, turned Anders down and had no problems  keeping his freindship.

Yeah CD Project RED is cool but  I here  that some people downloaded their game then they turned  into the mob with extoration and blackmail  :P

Really  when ME 1 came out I had   questions of how Bioware sustain the  " Choose Adventure Model" with " Epic Narrative" because eventually as we can see the two clash.

Wel lthis is not the why is witcher 2 the most disappointing computer agme in history, so I'll leave it at that.

Okay, filler's over. back to Kasumi.

What do you all think. How would Kasumi contanin her new squadmembers and the romances if she were on the normandy again?

Yeah, they pretty much wrote themselves into a hole w/ the huge amounts of characters and the SM. I don't know why they didn't think that people wouldn't do every single LM in the game.

I actually like Felicia Day. She might fall into the category of nerd bait, but she's alright in my book, and like you said, she has a more extensive resume than Chobot.

I find it strange that Kasumi would be on an assassination mission given the fact that she's not an assassin. BW must've thought that she was ninja enough to graduate to becoming an assassin. On the upside, she's the only character that you can defend for wearing a catsuit, as she is a thief which would require her to crawl through air ducts and other tight spaces as well as tripping any security systems. Those are things that are made difficult w/ loose, baggy or bulky articles of clothing.:P

I just thought of something. In the event that the Illusive Man takes control of the Alliance, I'll have her graybox intact to bring it down. Why didn't I think of this outcome before?

Gah! I'm sorry... Owl:crying: (was it weird that I was actually going to type "mom"?) I was delayed yet again. But I bring a peace offering:

Kasumi Tales: Guardian Angel

I finished what I meant to do! Couple of things though:
1. This wasn't intended to be a huge epic. Though I do have one in mind I want to wait until we know all Bioware's gonna give us in ME3 (nothing like being Jossed). Rather this was meant to be a quick thing that I can share and use to flush out more details for myself. Even though it's not extensive this has already given me so many ideas on backstory and relationships
2. I wrote it in a different way from your typical fiction. I'm trying it out, wanting to see if this "indirect narration" method works.

Anyway... let me know what you think!

1. nothing wrong with alternative continuity, if the writing is good. So we are talking about an infiltrator shepard(tech's don'r have big guns, but he does burn something)
seeems like renegade too. Tis possibly between the two games. Would be nice for a bloodlustfull shepard to be redeemed by Kasumi by the time ME3 ends.

2. Interesting way to wright [heavy sigh] but I don't think it would work for a longer story. You could pull it off by switching Viewpoints every chapter, but that would make events on the Normandy difficult. Navigator Pressly can't look into every corner of the ship.

Hey... just found this interview. And one of the main questions is "Will Kasumi be back in our squad... as a love interest?"

It's got me curious. The guy who was answering the questions, Mike Gamble, of course couldn't verify as the questions were a little too straightforward. But why was this Kasumi question asked?

Because people want to see her back! And she's going to impact the story in a big way!

Here's the interview. Discuss... XD

Mechlar's influence is spreading.......well my eldest would be thrilled, she always wanted brothers...^_^.
I like the Narrative, found myself getting quite caught up in the story...tis always a good thing if you can get the reader involved which you have cetainly achieved.....If you don't mind, I would like to suggest three thoughts...1/ Tighten the narrative up, it's just a little too loose and disconnected....2/ Take a look at some formal documents and study their wording style, the military/interviewers style of documentation writing was not gramatically quite strict enough in it's styling...and...3/ Spend just a little more time on painting the picture (not too much though), description of surrounding area, buildings and Merc appearance.....Over all I really enjoyed it Cricket....Thank you and I would love to see that story go further...you have caught me up, I want to read more....:o

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Just a bit more info (which will hopefully address some points):

These shorts (yes there will be more) are intended as quick encounters, not a lot of backstory or setup (I tend to get lost in those sometimes) and are designed to quickly grab you and take you through the action. Hopefully this doesn't skimp on character development or themes. Like I said just this one alone has given me plenty of ideas on Kasumi and her relationship with Shepard. I'm hardpressed to describe it further because I don't know if it has a name. Think of the Animatrix- that's pretty much what I'm going for, short stories, perhaps with varying styles that just explore the world of Shepard-Kasumi.

They're also meant to be timeless, or not fixed to any point (i.e. during the games, or after). They can happen at any point (with the only limit being after Stolen Memory obviously).Whether they will be fixed in some grander tale, I don't know yet.

The indirect style, I'm still working out. Basically I don't want to just dive in Kasumi's (or Shepard's) head first-person style just yet (or follow them directly in third person). I can do Shepard as he is partly my own creation but I don't feel I know Kasumi well enough yet. I'm hoping these random shorts and whatever new info ME3 will provide will be enough to pin down her character so I can do it justice. As such the viewpoints will be from around the edges and hopefully I can get closer.

Owl, in regards to your specific points, a lot of what you say was intentional though I suspect it may have backfired. I thought a witness that had gone through such a traumatic experience (and is suggested to have psychological damage) would be a little loose in how he told the story. That's also why the grammar's lax, with odd changing tenses and whatnot and also why the picture wasn't completely painted. I wanted to add authenticity (make it feel like a real testimony of a scarred man as opposed to a perfect story) but perhaps I lost cohesion. I can't excuse myself fully though, I did rush a little (especially when I failed to deliver on time) and didn't do research on military (or police reports)

Now...all that being said, expect something new by the weekend!
