I think that the people at bioware respect the fans enough to not do this. If they did exclude Garrus I honestly think I might stop playing the game. Having to fall back on romancing the boyscout (Kaidan) would be worse than total annhilation by the Reapers.

I want it to be a fist fight, and I want the party that shepard doesn't side with to loose a significant ammount of their face and jaw. Gladitorial Style!

Why do only turians get the pretty gamer girls? But this would probably not be a that big problem if there was female turians in the game of course...
Slightly more serious though, I always thought of Garrus as a bit of a ladies man. He seems to know very well that he is charming and handsome.
And about ruthless Garrus, I think that is a strong word. He is far from bloodthirsty, hatefull and vengefull (okay, a bit vengefull I guess). He is a renegade in his personality and methods but that doesn't mean that he is a selfish bully (even though that is often the case with renegades).

Uh, no thanks. My Shepard doesn't have time for testosterone contests. (Or whatever its equivalent in turians.) She'd kick them both off the Normandy and tell them she'd see them after the Reapers are dead.

Garrus and Kaidan are clearly characters who leave a way for Shepard if she needs room or needs to move on. They aren't going to kill each other because Shepard is her own person.

I like the fact that they aren't a family of political kingpins or something, but rather a lower-middle class family trying to get by. Liara is the daughter of the one of the most powerful Asari ever to live. Zaeed owned the Blue Suns. Grunt was created by a Warlord, etc etc etc.

Not saying that they ever would fight. It would just be a nice change to romance someone who was actively interested. Garrus was really awkward. Jacob was really awkward. Even Kaidan had to "think about it". Thane was the only character who was even remotely explicit about his feelings--which admittedly makes me feel like a huge jerk everytime I reject him for the turian, but whatever. It would just make for more interesting gameplay. Hurt feelings, rejection, jealousy, and all that.

I'm curious. How exactly are you defining ruthlessness? Both Garrus and Thane can be said to be so depending on how you define it. I've seen people equate it to being evil or selfish, and that's not what ruthless is.
There's nothing wrong with being ruthless. How I define it: being unrelenting and showing no mercy. Both men have shown this when facing enemies. They are driven to succeed and don't let obstacles stand in their way.

Meh, it's just an excuse to bash other LI's. Specifically, Kaidan. But hey, guess I should be used to that in this thread since it seems to be a recurring issue.

If they can't behave themselves, then they're of the ship. Or locked in a room 'til they have stopped arguing. Or finished to test their flexibility or whatevs.

True. And they are also both tough and mature enough to not let anyone, not even Shepard, push them around. If Shepard can't choose she will get none.Collider wrote...

That's too bad. I think each LI has thier own flavor. To each their own, I say. I personally have had my Sheps romance Kaidan, Garrus, Thane, Tali, Liara, Miranda, Samara (or tried to:D), and Jack.
I've enjoyed them all for different reasons, and oddly enough, have had a love/hate relationship with some depending on how I roleplay my Shep.
I will say I do tend to favor Kaidan and Garrus. Kaidan is just plain awesome, and Garrus is so darn adorkable it isn't even funny. Those are my two favorite romances by far. <3
It's sad to see that people feel the need to bash other characters.

It's called fanfiction. And it can be really good or really scarey!
