Phone posting so can't edit, but in the FAQ Chris posted Monday, the Squadmates (with
Garrus specifically mentioned) are staying with Shepard and won't be playable in the multiplayer, IIRC.

You know I think the multiplayer will be a nice addition, I love talking with other mass effect fans so being able to play alongside them too will be a lot of fun. I for one want to be part of  an all turian squad

Oh and if there's live speak, you just know what an all turian co-op is going to sound like LOL

Hon it's still there waiting for ya  When you get free time PM me so you can have someone to chat to when you log in. I'm going to make more of an effort to log in more myself , been away from it to long *tear* 
 I do think a regroup is in order especially if we can potentially play co-op together

Oh, the glorious table night.

At any rate, I actually swung by to copy/paste a bit of content from a thread I just made in the ME3 forum. Don't worry, there are no ME3 spoilers; the tidbit I'm posting is all about ME1 and ME2.

I'm copy/pasting this primarily for something I noticed that Mac Walters (the guy getting interviewed in the forthcoming piece) mentions about Garrus. He wrote him in ME1 and parts of him in ME2, as I'm sure most of the regulars here are probably aware of; well, he also talks about how much he loves the Illusive Man because he's drawn to grey characters. Grey? Garrus doesn't know what to do with grey. Well, I just find it cool that Garrus' big writer is a big fan of the concept -- much of my admiration for the character stems from that greyness.

Anyway, here we go.

OXM: "Which of the characters in the game do you feel closest to?"

Mac Walters: "Garrus was always one that I felt attached to. I wrote Garrus in the first Mass Effect -- Garrus and Wrex were my mainstays in [that game[. And then I continued to write some of Garrus' mission stuff [in Mass Effect 2], not as much as his personal work, though I oversaw it as lead designer. So Garrus, I've alway sshad an interesting attachment to, [though] it's kind of changed over the games. Wrex is just fun, and I still enjoy him.

I also have to say the Illusive Man, and it's partly [because of] working with Martin sheen, having this great voice -- but Casey also had a very strong vision for who the Illusive Man would be. I love characters that are a bit gray, that are not obvioulsy evil or obviously good -- they're somewhere in between. So from that perspective, he's a lot of fun to write. That's one of the reasons why, when we had options [for which characters to focus on] in the books, I wanted to go back into this guy's past and explore. I find him a fascinating character and would love to do more on him -- we haven't given away all the tidbits."
