The only reason Garrus should not be gay is because that would mean no Garrus for FemShep.

The only reason Garrus should not be bi is because that would mean no Shepard for all the other LIs, ever.

That is the most infallible logic I have ever read.

I told myself I wasn't going to poke this topic, but I can't help myself. I know, there was a massive neverending thread
of hate, fear, dispair, anticipation and raw hope that beat this whole debate to
death, but since we're talking Garrus and we all know everyone in the
Garrus thread is totally levelheaded and relaxed (HAHAHA).... What if he's 'choose your own adventure" gay? Like he's straight because you're playing as femshep, or he's gay only if you tell him to be? Do you guys think that making Garrus a s/s option is actually in the cards? and if so, where will the angry mobs and celebration mobs meet?

(edited for my crazy spelling at the end where it looked like I was having a seizure while typing...)

Well..Posted Image*eggshells everywhere*

I think It's doubtful because bioware has said only some squaddies will be s/s and if any old squaddie is going to be bi I would put my money on kaidan (what with his voice actor letting slip) and I would also say vega as the new male bisexual.  Also (as I said in another thread) something in my gut says the ME2 gang aren't going to get new entry points to their romances in ME3.

I'm squarely in the "I don't care who sleeps with whom so well as BW does a good job with it" camp.  Garrus, however, deserves special attention in this matter for two reasons:

1. Garrus is a bro.  Making him available to M!Shep might compromise that glorious friendship they've got going.  Bioware would have to take extra care to make sure the "friendship path" is incredibly solid, and that the s/s romance path is in no way forced or uncomfortably broadcasted.

2. The FemShep romance was already incredibly awkward for poor Garrus.  He's clearly not entirely comfortable with a human, and he's made it fairly clear that his physical attraction to FemShep is minimal.  Jumping the gender AND species hurdle in one go might be even more difficult, and this needs to come across in the romance.  In fact, he might turn BroShep down outright.  This is, of course, assuming he's straight--he might be bisexual, but he hasn't broadcasted it up to this point, so it's safe to assume that even if he is bi, he might not like that about himself.

For those two reasons, s/s with Garrus would be really, really hard to pull off.  To be honest, I can picture Garrus rejecting BroShep a lot easier than I can picture those two in love, and let me tell you, that rejection would be the most heartbreaking moment for Gaypard, ever.  Seriously, poor Garrus respects and trusts Shepard so much, and he'd try so hard to turn him away without hurting his feelings (once he realized Shep wasn't joking)... I would probably cry.

Especially since I haven't gotten over Sam and Mordin yet.

Nonetheless, DELICIOUS, DRAMATIC TEARS.

God, that picture of garrus petting a deathclaw is hilarious. Thanks a lot k8ee, now there's coffee on my keyboard.

Is the idea the a man is gay and therefore off limits a massive turn-off for women? It seems to be a turn on for (some, not all) men. Replace the two human lesbian women kissing with two turian lesbian women kissing and.... Oh look, 40% of this thread has started hyper ventilating and a select few have fainted, how strange...

And frankly the tripe that's posted on this thread is vastly entertaining, if new visitors don't like it then they can go join the illusive man thread, or the Tory party, either or really...

just poking in whilst i have brief internetz and electricitiez...

boy on boy ... in my humble opinion ... is HOT. like OMG sexy.  i dont know why.... its a wicked turn on for me.  moreso if its emotion based. like just two guys doing it is hot.. but if its a relationship... i love it.  if i can do a m/m romance in a game... i do it in a heartbeat.  i dont know what it is. i think there's just something rediculously sweet about boys who like boys.
*shrug* maybe i'm weird.

also. i love this thread and miss the hell out of it right now. :(  wish i had the interwebz at home.  and heat.

Turned off by gayness, BubbleSauce?

You really have no idea how hard I ship Saren/Nihlus, do you?

Also, poor Obsy. My power went out last Halloween, and it sucked.

*snicker* you said new entry points....

@AdmiralCheez You know, as much as when you said Gaypard I almost fell off the floor I was sitting on I started laughing so hard, your argument is the best one I've heard. Jumping the gender and species hurdle does seem like it would be difficult for BW to do well.

Your description of the more likely event of a gentle shut down by Garrus is more believable, though tragic. And the imaginary awkwardness would be just awful afterwards. I'd have to play through as Gaypard just so I could experience the scene and cry too.

Turians strike me as the kind of people who would say "Heterosexuality? Homosexuality? What are those? Some kind of asari professions?" considering:

1: Every single turian joins the military.
2: Raised to be civic-minded, turians have an easy time bonding due to a common cause and mentality.
3: They have very lax regulations around fraternization, since Garrus was allowed to nail a female of his own crew without repercussions. Aside from the risk of making babies, that is.
4: They don't have typical religions (history's greatest source of homophobia) and have a perfect gender equality, which would indicate that discrimination against same-sex relationships is virtually non-existant as well.
5: Everyone is allowed to do pretty much what the hell they want as long as they don't harm themselves, others or the action/interest in question impedes their ability to carry out their duties.

That's just Garrus tripping balls... possibly after licking Thane's skin and surviving..., in which case it would be gay....

Also... Arcian... now that you mention it, turian females and males (if we are to believe the comics... ) look awfully similar. I could see the gender roles being pretty blurred. But that's assuming we're talking logical for the ME universe or our universe...

I know LOL but I didn't know what else to call it Posted Image

I’ll also add Cheez that since the whole ME2  romance theme was “trying something I hadn’t considered before” if it wasn’t even introduced here (which would have potentially been perfect set up for it) then I think it’s fair to say the ship has sailed . Like you said it would be very hard to pull off at this point now.

Agreed.  In my head!canon, Partinax moonlights as a drag queen and no one gives a single f*ck about it.  However, even if there are no cultural barriers whatsoever, sometimes the physical attraction just isn't there.  Also, just because something is legally and culturally accepted does not mean it doesn't have its fair share of baggage and stereotypes attached, and sometimes people just don't like certain things about themselves even though there's nothing wrong with them.

I think all it amounts to is that he says he's fully supportive of the idea of Kaidan being a bisexual character, and that this would in no way affect his voice acting. Or something along those lines.

But of course, we know better.

Also, kundagi/poupon is awesome.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind Garrus for s/s (it'd be adorably sweet and awkwardly hot), but I feel he really is the hardest one to pull it off with, so it might be safer to just keep him FemShep exclusive.

But despair not, ye Garrussexual gentlemen, for what Bioware cannot do, fanfic can.

You missed the part where somebody made a joke in the Twitter thread about Mordin and Wrex being romanceable and I posted a "my body is ready" gif in response, didn't you?

But seriously, asking if someone would actually screw a turian in the Garrus fan thread?

You don't come here often, do you?
