Breaking up with him after the suicide mission would be rather cruel, especially after he said about wanting something to go right for once :( I imagine he would become very bitter, cold and closed off towards Shepard. Gosh, I hate even thinking about this - it breaks my heart :(

Garrus is so used to things going wrong for him that his willingness to open up to shepard probably used up the last little ounce of hope he had left. If shepard up and dumped him in ME3 after what he shared with her in ME2 I think he would just give up on trying to be happy. He would still fight the good fight because he would still have his sense of justice but it won’t be the same. I want that poor bloke to be happy dammit!

Some of the ME2 romances can be considered both under a serious and a casual light. Like Miranda or Jacob. Flirting with Garrus could be considered casual if you back out and stay friend. But once you go through the whole <someone I trust> dialogue where he asks you to forget it if you dont want something serious... well its hard to say it was just a one night affair.

And the reverse is also true. I couls see Miranda tell my MShep that it was a work relation that got heated (like what happend between her and Jacob) but I cant really see Garrus tell FemShep he jsut wanted to blow some steam (same with Thane).

Exactly!

Nor would I think he would panic about getting too close afterwards like I imagine jack would a bit.  The only reason he would end things with shepard would be if she

A. Cheated
B. Did something really horrible that even Garrus couldn't overlook

Garrus seems to get more upset the later you break up with him. Before the trust talk, he kind of just shrugs it off After that he seems hurt. And before the SM he just seems like he's heartbroken.  I don't think he takes his relationship with Shepard as a casual thing because of how much trust and respect he holds for her. She even gave him the chance to back out. I'm really interested in how he'll react to it, but I don't think I'll keep that particular save in ME3. I just couldn't do it!

Honestly I don’t think it would have worked. The dynamics between them were very different back then, very student/teacher, garrus was also easier to influence since he hadn’t formed strong opinions yet. Romancing him in me1 would have felt like I was taking advantage of my role as a teacher if that makes any sense. ME2 was when he finally became his own man, an equal to shepard, and that’s when it felt right to to pursue a relationship with him. Also because of the nature of the relationship I felt it was necessary to create a history between them first, crossing species like that is not something you do with someone you are just getting to know but with someone you grow to platonically care for first.

I feel like I do need to defend Garrus here in that I don't think he really was just a wide-eyed student. This guy was not a fresh-faced C-Sec Cadet here. Not only did he have at least one Tour of Duty in the Turian Military before joining C-Sec, he was considered a C-Sec Veteran and a Senior Investigator by the time he joined Shepard in ME1. He came across as a naieve student in some ways in ME1 dialogue, for sure, but it felt to me like that was as much finding in Shepard someone who had a much stronger sense of self and could help him answer some of his own internal questions and fears as some sort of naieve wet-behind-the-ears rookie who needed guidance.

That said, I'm not disappointed with the Friends-to-Lovers arc Garrus and Shepard's story took. There's a lot to be said for it. I'm just thinking I probably would have hit that in ME1 too, and not felt too much guilt over it.

I really hope they make a distinction between the VS triangle and the Liara triangle. Especially if you slept with Liara again in LotSB, now that was definitely cheating.  I hope the ME2 LI gets more pissed about the LotSB situation since shepard lied and was two timing people who specifically said they wouldn’t put up with love triangles (that’s ALL the ME2 LI’s). In that instance I can picture shouting and the exchanging of angry words, even by even the most mildest of characters. Horizon is a different situation all together though and I see characters like kaidan and garrus being very civil about it.

Yes that is definitely cheating and I do hope there will be consequences for that.  They would be totally justified in that scenario to make a bit of a scene!

For me I draw the line at them having their special moment together before the SM. I know it sounds cheezy and I do see romance that way usually but in this particular instance its what makes the mroe sense.

In retrospect I feel like this about a lot of the romance conclusions. I think I would have preferred to have a romance scene after the SM, yes it makes more sense that way, but I guess its a game mechanic.  If they made it so you could reject him and still romance him later, that would be good too (not sure if thats the case though...)

If you look at it as a 'last chance before possible death' though I think I'd want that last moment with him out of all my favourites in game.

I like that the ending was a 'suggestion of intimacy' and not a full on sex scene though.  Mind you, I have a vivid imagination Posted Image

So little being actually shown is telling that a good writing and a natural sense to the romance is more important to make a LI popular then a cheezy sex scene that inevitably falls short to the imagination

Haha, yeah. Jacob's scene was like "Uh... What?"

Garrus's, on the other hand, was filled with so much adorable-awkward, my Shepard couldn't help but head bump him. xD

At the end of Garrus scene, I was left wondering what was to come for Shep and him while at the end of Jacob i was like <what is there to look forward to?>. Mission completed, prize achieved.

So much adorable-awkward, and so much sincerity. This is why I'm the Garrus fangirl that I am.

It doesn't hurt that he's a snarky badass - that always helps, but...this is what makes it a heart melter IMO. <3

Man, bring on March 6th already so I can spill my guts about all the cool (and touching) stuff that Garrus does and says in ME3.

You would not believe the level of restraint I have to maintain to not shower you guys with all the delicious spoilers I have exposed my mind to. Oh, March 6th, why do you approach at the Mako's pace and not the Hammerhead's!?

The temptation to look at the spoilers is a killer, believe me. My sanity is slowly being etched away by the wait. >:(

I'm just bummed I stopped lurking and became active on the forums (specifically Garrus-related threads lololol) as they started getting slower. Oh, March, you'll bring life into these threads once again!

The Mako may be the source of all evil, but that damn Hammerhead is about 10x worse. Both of them are the bane of my existence. Ah well. :P

I came to find Mako missions enjoyable when I started seeing them as a soothing activity to listen to music to.  Tooling around on Amaranthine to "Your Silent Face" by New Order = kind of amazing???  But the Hammerhead is more like: [gets hit with projectile made of feathers thrown by sickly child] --> "NRRRR! NRRRR! NRRRR! NRRRR!"

Just tell us if Garrus goes boxers, briefs, or commando (still hoping for fundoshi).

I really hope shepard gets to dance again like she did in ME1 (not a shuffle dammit!) and also be able to dance with her LI. Bioware could really have some fun with it, it would be a great opportunity to poke fun at the characters. Like the first time you select a dancing volus or a dance floor it triggers a cut scene that's unique to that LI.

http://social.biowar...5&poll_id=26735 Yet another one of those romance polls, Garrus is losing to someone named Kadien

And the poster forgot to add a certain hallucinogenic squaddie to the list of options
