I actually prefer to not interrupt him because Shep's interrupt seems rude to me. I know it's probably supposed to be "teasing" but the animation after she tells him to "stop worrying" makes her look like she's thinking "******."

*SPOILERS* for romance scene!

Garrus: If you were a Turian I'd be complimenting your waist or your fringe, so.. your hair... looks... good. And your waist is... very supportive. Hopefully that's not offensive in human culture. Crap, I knew I should have watched the vids. Throw me a line here, Shepard!

#1 Paragon Interrupt: Whoa! Consider me seduced, smooth talker. Now shut up and stop worrying. (drops smile, looks like "I can't believe I'm having sex with this loser.")

#2 Without interrupt ("Relax, let's do this" option): *smile* Calm down, Garrus. You're worrying too much. And talking too much. (I prefer this as being more friendly/respectful.)

#3 Breaking it off ("Maybe we make better friends" option): *serious/sad look* Garrus, we need to rethink this. I don't want to hurt our friendship.
Garrus: Yeah, you're right. Let's leave it be. Probably would have torn a ligament or something anyway. *rubs forehead, embarrassed* I'll let you get back to work, Shepard. And I'll be there when you need me. *leaves*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf9ymrI8Eno
(You can tell from watching this that it isn't just "blowing off steam" to him any more. He really sounds crushed but puts on a professional face.) I would love it if it were an option to romance him after the suicide mission or in ME3 after having chosen this path, because it seems like the characters really care for each other but the timing isn't right. Risking anaphylaxis two hours before a critical mission doesn't seem like something Shepard or Garrus would really do.

I think both responses have their problems which is why I wish we had one more additional way to respond something along the lines of “Garrus don’t worry, it’s just me remember?”.   I still haven't decided which one is "worse" yet, I just feel that I sound like a jerk no matter how I respond. If I paragon interrupt I sound like I’m making fun of him and I cringe at the “shut up” Posted Image. If I don’t select it I make poor Garrus  panic while I stand there in silence and the “you’re talking too much” isn’t a very considerate thing to say either Posted Image. If there's one thing Garrus didn't do in ME2 it was TALK TOO MUCH, which is why both responses are epic fails in that regard.

Ha, that's looking down through the top of Garrus' head. You can get some weird shots if you fiddle with the camera while Garrus is bending over to tend to the Mako. Also, a lot of the time he's typing into the air a few feet behind his keyboard...

Garrus is too cute for words. The Turian has some great dialogue. I wish he had more characters interaction. I got really annoyed with him sending me away so he could calibrate things. Plus Sheps cheeky little grin when she suggests working off tension together. She only gets that expression when chatting up Garrus. Love it. Can't wait to see him again in ME3. I will deeply love my Garrusmance playthough since it seems to be one of the ones that will carry through. Um, will they be waving it off if Garrus dies in a playthrough? If so anyone know how?

*pounce*  you showed up!  hi hi. :D

now, when it comes to choosing anyone over Garrus....  Nihlus. :D  yup. no one else ever.

and i've gotten some really awesome screenshots of things through Garrus' head.  I got a shot through his visor once. i'll have to find it and post it...  :D

my Renegades often get a good/nice amount of Paragon in ME1 usually...
And it's still early in the game, doing Noveria first... So, who knows what the end result will be...
uh, Virmire's going to be a little strange during cutscene but whatever...

I only got Saren working on modelswap in ME1, Geth aren't showing up, Nihlus somewhat works, haven't yet tried to play as squadmembers... not sure how to change a squadmember model to anothers or to a nonsquad model......
~
My ME1 Insanity run with my main Vanguard Shepard, apparently on Virmire fight with Saren they are equally matched (now if those fuel tanks weren't there and cutscene didn't happen, it'd be a stalemate)

The Saren v. Saren brawl will be hilarious.  Is Saren romancing anybody in this playthrough?

I do so hope they somehow use the "calibrations" line in ME3!

Trial Fraps doesn't always take screenshots when I tell it to... As for romance, not likely...

eh, council meeting was odd, but don't care...

playing as Saren model has actually been useful for me in learning Turian emotions and such, which will help in my fanfic I'm writing. All I'll say is Saren & Sovereign are still around, despite following the first two games, maybe some slight differences... Not much...

Oh, I like your idea! You're right, both of FemShep's "yes" responses are a bit too cavalier for the amount of emotional impact the situatuion seems to be having on Garrus. And both make her seem insensitive -- if not downright scornful. It's ironic that the "reject" line is probably the most respectful of the three -- thus why I wanted to be able to use it and still pick up the romance later, but it is not to be -- alas! :(

Ooh, can you share any? I always wondered what the "down swivel" of the mandibles meant. I only saw Lilihierax and Garrus use it. It didn't seem to be a frown, exactly... possibly embarrassment?

Uhh, you know know you're not actually playing as Saren right? They're shepard's emotions, how exactly does having Saren's skin give you an insight into Saren's mind? Let alone the mind's of turians as a whole...

I can dress dress up as a raccoon, but I don't exactly think I'll learn anything about raccoons by doing so...

Even so, the models' mandibles & browplates move during semi-cutscene,,
The model itself IS Saren's model, male Shepard's model been replaced.

Best I can think of is when first meet Powell and pick the bottom dialog option...

Anyways, here's what I see during combat healthbars n stuff...

Is it me or was femshep's dialogue with the ME2 LI's just dodgy in general? I think she was the most insensitive with Jacob so I’m thankful that she didn’t speak that way to Garrus throughout the entire romance, unfortunately she just saved it riiiiiight at the end when it was the most emotional Posted Image.  She never says anything rude to Thane (I’m talking non break up dialogue)  but some people felt she should have been quiet instead of saying “be alive with me tonight” Posted Image.  I thought it was fine myself because at least she was saying something nice.

And you know what irritates me more? The kindest things femshep says about garrus she says to OTHER PEOPLE

Liara: He’s been hurt...betrayed..he deserves something better

Mordin: Garrus is important to me; you’re not going to scare me off

Kelly: (in response to her saying he needs a hug) I know exactly what you mean

Yet when Garrus is pouring his little heart out in front of her to make everything perfect what does she say?

I can try to snag some with subtitles on just for this learning stuff... I'll have to try get the one when meet Powell since Fraps didn't work there... It's no problem for me; will get pics soon...

Hello everyone! I've been lurking in these forums for quite some time now, as I find it interesting reading some of your discussions. I tend to jump to different threads so I just wanted to introduce myself. I will probably be here a lot because Garrus is my second favorite character behind Shepard. So, please carry on.

I think Pyn means the commands to the model in the dialogue/cutscenes remain, so if Shepard's model is supposed to "smile," Saren's model does the predetermined Turian equivalent. Someone played ME2 with Garrus as Shepard and there was a pic of Garrus during one of the romance scenes trying to do either "sexy half-smile" or "rapeface" (I can't remember) but it was truly hideous. *shudder* So, if you know what Shepard was supposed to be doing in that scene you can see what the Turian equivalent is.

I love Jennifer Hale's acting, so I blame the whole cringeworthy delivery of "romance" lines by FemShep on the direction. (Maybe that's unfair of me.) Yes, I did find all of the romace lines to be somewhat distasteful (especially the ones to Jacob). I hope in ME3 they allow her to use a normal tone of voice instead of the blatantly "sexy" version. I really like the way she sounds when she's being honest. "I don't want something 'closer to home' -- I want you." Couldn't she have said something like that at the critical moment? I guess I'll have to chalk her slip up at the end to nerves. :?

I'm not sure Garrus would know how to handle Shep saying nice things to his face. When she tells him "I couldn't do this without you, Garrus" he just brushes it off with a joke (likely because he's embarrassed). Shep does consistently tell him that she trusts him and needs him watching her back. I think she understands that he doesn't want her pity -- when he asks about his scars I was initially horrified by the "paragon" response, but then realized that was setting the tone for their relationship. She does get the end of the romance scene just right. When he confesses that his life is a mess and he has no confidence in his ability to do things right she doesn't joke or sympathize but just offers silent reassurance. D'awww.<3

I forgot to mention that she does make up for that response with the-as you said- silent reassurance, so it could have been worse Posted Image

And what you said about Garrus brushing off niceness...hmm that makes me think about the response a bit differently now. Do you think shep was just trying to lighten the mood with jokes in that moment because maybe she didn't want garrus to think she felt sorry for him?

With the scars comment I'm sure gar didn't want to hear "Your poor face! I'm sorry garrus" because it would have been a form of pity. So I guess I can rationalize the "woah considered me seduced smooth talker" if take the previous scar comment into account. Both comments were made during serious moments (I mean that garrus nearly died from that injury) but shep must know that sometimes he bounces back better with light heartedness. Joking about his compliments at least shows she wasn't offended by what he said (which is what he was worried about) and the tone isn't that of pity when I listened to it again.

Also I just noticed something from the youtube vids...Does the non-interrupt response cause that hand glitch that makes her thumb clip into his face?

I think Shep was *supposed* to be putting him at ease with teasing, but somehow the delivery was not quite right, so it came off badly. The dropped smile animation didn't help, either.

Oh, I didn't notice about the cause of the clipping! I remember recording several times before I finally got a non-clipped take but don't remember what I did differently that time. Maybe it is the option chosen.

Yes. I think this is true. I really do like Jennifer Hale....  but a good actor can't always save badly written dialogue.  I think that the right idea was there.... and hopefully it'll be smoothed out in ME3. thats really all I can hope for.

And as to your earlier comment, Hyrule... about Shepard saying all of the nicest things about Garrus to other people.... Thats just true to life. The most important things are the hardest to say, and the most emotional things are the hardest to say to the person that you want to say them to. I do that sorta thing all the time. I have so much i want to say to the boy, but i tell everyone else, cause maybe i'm afraid i'll get shot down. or laughed at. or whatever.    and Shepard seems to be even less likely to know what to do in an emotional situation than i do.
so thats my take on it. i actually really like that part. whether it was on purpose or not...  it was very true to life.

TOTP.... why you always sneaking up on me??
