Maybe I'll find an answer here. Why? Why does Garrus insist on playing my Turian meat shield? Why can I count on all my companions to duck for cover and Garrus to climb on top of the nearest crate with what I can only imagine is a self sacrificing call of: "Hey buttheads, here fire at me!" Is this commen for him? Is there somewhere in his tactics I can fix this rather daft, though noble behavior? Thane and Shep are tired of facepalming and then dragging his ass out of whatever firestorm he just got himself into.

As far as I'm aware that's just how Garrus rolls.  Cover is for wimps people who still have an entire face.

It's not too bad if you manually tell him where to take cover and once you give him a decent sniper rifle he's pretty lethal.

Hopefully in ME3 they'll have tweaked his AI a bit.

What Fuzzy said. With a decent sniper rifle he tends to do this less.

In fact he was actually stealing kills from me on my vanguard run, I'd charge one guy, turn around to finish off another only to see them keel over and hear "scoped and dropped!".

It was awesome.

I love taking Garrus with me on Vanguard runs. He offers great long-range support for the Vanguard's up-close and personal style - softening 'em up before I charge in, or saving my ass by firing a Concussive Shot and knocking down an enemy I'd failed to notice until after charging. Quite impressive.

He and Zaeed make really good long range support.

just throwing that out there.

and yeah... in ME 1, by the time i got to the end of the game, Garrus was killing things in one hit, emptying the room before i could even begin shooting.

If Shep had been revived by Reapertech, possibly Sovereign bits (ME1 Saren/Sovereign-husk eyes red glow) ...Especially if playing Renegade (eyes...). But then why would 'Sovereign' be helping Shep there? (EDI has piece of Sovereign's hardware, so its possible...
Harbinger's yellow/gold, but then in Arrival if survive waves there is a red screen from artifact... hmm...

...I tend to try and look at things on many views & angles...

Sovereign is helping Shepard? I haven't played Arrival, only read about it, so is this something I missed?

It's interesting that possessed Saren's eyes glow red when his Reaper implants normally give him a blue glow like the husks. And Shepard's scars always looked more like an orange-gold to me rather than Renegade red, but maybe that's the difference of playing on an SDTV (when most people probably play in HD). I like it better that way, with the glow matching her eyes.

Its very same-shade-sovereign-red (although a tiny bit red when first peek with a bit of Renegade may look yellow/gold at first to me) whether I'm playing on Xbox 360 or PC, my female Renegade Shepards on ME2... I like. hence possibility that 'Sovereign' is helping Shep (batarian bartender, Arrival dlc, collector base)
Maybe Reapers have their own factions/some have different 'ideas?'
(need more renegade to really see the red on Shep... IF I can get a pic of one my Renegades I will)

Just my view on it, its possible. (EDI mentions later in game that her "Design includes hardware recovered from the wreckage of Sovereign; if ask about "Anti-Reaper Aligorims" (however it's spelt))

Will try to get some screenshots now (or pics if I have to use my Xbox 360)

Actually, the allergy/anaphylactic shock thing is a tad bit overblown by the fandom. An allergic reaction is certainly possible, but like any other allergy, it depends on the individual. It's in fact much more likely that dextro-amino based foodstuffs would pass harmlessly through the digestive tract. A human (or any other levo-based life form) wouldn't be able to live on dextro food, since their bodies wouldn't be able to extract any nourishment from it, but consumption is far from an automatic warrant for anaphylactic shock.

Also, word on the scientific street is that dextro-based proteins tend to be on the sweet side...

Yeah, that's just the way Garrus is. Every now and then, he stands in front of Shepard like a shield. Maybe it would help, if you haven't tried already, to make him use his sniper rifle. The assault rifle is his default, and it's more of a close/mid-range weapon. He'll usually stay in cover if you tell him where to go with the squad commands too, at least for a while.

Garrus isn't the worst of the AI though. On one of my suicide mission playthroughs, Jack just stood right between Shepard and the Human Reaper when Shep was already using the Collector Particle Beam. I had to laugh about it. Who jumps in front of a laser and then complains that she's being shot? ...I like Jack, but I left that laser beam where it was. Reaper baby only stays in one place for so long.

That must be the reason. My Shepard probably doesn't have enough Renegade to get the full-blown scars. She's such a mix of morality, I don't even know what to call it anymore.

It would be cool if Shepard did have implants from Sovereign. I've always liked the "Shepard becomes Saren" idea.

Sometimes I feel like I've just been born rougly 100 years too early.. but when I reincarnate I'll be femShep. Yeaaah.

Anyways, I've started a second playthrough from ME1 just so I could 'save' myself for Garrus. It's been hard though, because Liara and Kaiden keep talking about how there is something between us, and I'm like nooooo there's not ;D. Also gonna take the paragon route with Garrus' missions :).

Far as I can tell with my Renegade Sheps, it seems to be that way... But then that's just how I play, moreso Renegade but at times will do Paragon stuff; depends...
Well whatever the issue was it let me take some screenshots successfully this time around...

reposting fanfic cover (without text) I made since it has Renegade ('Sovereign')red-eyes, I am working on the fanfic... hope to have more done soon.

though note that Shep isn't really "full/true" Renegade,

My Garrus-romance Shepard wasn't with anyone in ME1 either. (She went the Renegade route in his missions though.)

It's kind of funny how so many people seemed to think she was interested in them when she was just being nice, but the one she really wanted didn't see it coming at all.

Yeah, my golden-eyed Shepard doesn't have enough Renegade to make her eyes glow red. That does look like Saren's eyes when he was taken over by Sovereign.

Cool cover, by the way. What's the fanfic about?

In my first playthrough, which I pretty much rushed because I wanted to play ME2 so bad, had me taking mostly renegade options because I didn't want to dissapoint Garrus. After learning he actually accepts the choices, I'm gonna go back and make 'em right :).

And yeah, I feel bad for being mean to Kaiden/Liara, I might end up having to Virmire Kaiden because I don't think he'll take a hint :P.
