In my first playthrough, which I pretty much rushed because I wanted to play ME2 so bad, had me taking mostly renegade options because I didn't want to dissapoint Garrus. After learning he actually accepts the choices, I'm gonna go back and make 'em right :).

And yeah, I feel bad for being mean to Kaiden/Liara, I might end up having to Virmire Kaiden because I don't think he'll take a hint :P.

This FemShep was my second playthrough, but I also kind of rushed her through ME1. Soon after I created her character, I found out Garrus was going to be a romance option, so it had to be done. XD I messed up a few things (poor Lorik didn't get his evidence because Parasini surprised/confused me), and probably missed a few side-missions along the way, but the Renegade part was intentional. My Shep's a pretty vengeful person herself.

Kaidan actually backed off and stayed friends with my FemShep. Liara, however... has a glitch in my game which makes the "not interested" dialogue fail. FemShep luckily didn't talk to her enough for this to matter. MaleShep fell into the trap and still needs to be replayed. ):

I'm trying not the rush it now, and taking my time for sidequests. Which is hard, because I want my BA Garrus in ME2 :P. I just can't get myself to playing Renegade, I'm not sure why.. I'm always Good/Kind/Paragon in games, and even as a roleplay character, I just feel too bad, haha. I've heard about a glitch that even when you don't 'consumate' the relationship with Liara/Kaiden it still 'counts'.. so I really hope they just 'back off', haha.

I have a lot of Shepards planned out with very different personalities (though they're never "pure" Paragon or Renegade), and there are still some choices I'll never play out because it's just too sad, like not recruiting Garrus in ME1. All of my Shepards like him because he always stands by them no matter what.

About the ME1 romances, I think it counts as Shepard being in a relationship because even if they don't go through with it in the final scene, the romance was already activated and turning them down then doesn't count as breaking up. Unfortunately, breaking up is also impossible in the Normandy lockdown scene. I tried.

Yeeep, that's probably it. Same happened here - first playthrough, I romanced Kaidan because...well, because he was the only male option. And while he wasn't my cup of tea romantically, he was still a nice guy and I liked him. Early on in the relationship, I learned online that Garrus was a romance option in ME2...but in truth, I had no interest in pursuing him at the time, so I continued my romance with Kaidan. It was only later on after watching a few clips of ME2 Garrus that I realized that I needed a piece of that turian in my life.

Unfortunately I'd already been locked into Kaidan's romance, so there was nothing I could do <_< And while I denied him his sex scene, I was still nice him for the rest of the romace, because he was still a good guy. One thing I do appreciate in ME2 was that they gave the option to legitimately break up with most LIs, heartbreaking as it may be.

I managed to friendzone both Kaidan and Liara in every subsequent playthrough...but I'm kind of glad I still have one where he's romanced, just so I can see the Kaidan-Garrus love triange resolution in ME3.

Anyone else bring Garrus on missions to hear his battle grunts?

"Mm!"

"Ungh!"

"YES!"

;):wub::whistle:

edit: on ME1 romances and love triangles, I romanced Liara and then Garrus on my canon playthrough.  Liara, because it happened accidentally and I rolled with it because I liked her enough, and then Garrus because he's Garrus.  I'm definitely sticking with Garrus, and Liara seemed pretty cool with this at the end of LOTSB, so I don't really see this as a "love triangle" but ME3 may treat it as one, who knows?  Anyway, this seems like a rare enough love triangle that I think I'll keep it this way, I'm interested in seeing what happens.

I'd imagine that Asari are pretty chill about relationship stuff because hey- you'll be dead in 100 years or so, and that's nothing to them.

Ugh, I guess I'm stuck with Kaiden now, because he was talking about he was looking forward to some alone time (or something along those lines) and all I could say was "me too" in 3 different styles ;D. So Virmire it is.
I tried to do a Male Shepard Renegade playthrough, but I had to go back and reload a few times where I did a Paragon option. I'm just not cut out for it I guess :P.

Is there anything specific to avoid when trying to do a "non-romanced" ME1 PT? Canon!Shep is intended for Garrus ("saving yourself for Garrus" was how hubby put it  :) ). I'm pretty good at spotting the romance starters, but I also have heard you can get ninjamanced by Kaidan and Liara.

I also run Paragade.... some of those choices... i mean. there are some that i just CAN'T be a paragon. Or renegade. and i try to run my Shepards close to the choices that I would make if I were in that situation.

Regarding ME... I've tried so many times to go back and replay it. and every time I do... I'm wondering WHY I'm not playing ME2. I loved ME, don't get me wrong... but ME2 was far and away a better game. The story in ME1 was better though. so its hard.

and Re: Kaidan... I romanced him on purpose. and would do it again. I really liked Kaidan. BUT I still have my solo playthrough happening for Garrus. :D As for Liara... in ME1 she annoyed the hell outta me. I loved her in 2 though... she was so much more mature.

and thats my 2 cents.

oh look. Garrus.  He's staring into my soul. :D

The best way is just to avoid them.

But if you really don't wanna go that route, you can simply do the conversation with Liara where she asks if you have feelings for the VS and say that you have none. Then decline her 'offer' of being together and you should avoid ninjamancing.

To check if it worked, simply do the Virmire mission and and when back on the ship, Kaidan won't say that "Ash died for us".

Worked for me.

I was actually intending to romance Kaidan for my most recent ME1 run but I accidentally shut him down, which was pretty funny.

I've never had a problem with a Liara ninjamance, it's fairly easy to spot her romance triggers and shut her down in a non-dickish way.

I left the storyline spoilers alone and just went for the romance ones because I am a weak, weak woman.

:o was pretty much my reaction.

I pretty much did the same thing.  And to be honest, the dialogue was so jumbled that it was pretty hard to tell who was saying what exactly. Not to mention, I'm sure the script didn't contain all the dialogue so there are probably a few surprises to look forward to.  I don't feel like it ruined anything for me.  It just made me more excited to play the game.

Same here. Left Thane spoilers alone cause I don't even want to know what is going through biowares evil little head. Garrus romance spoilers, I get butterflies in my stomache and I actually have more Garrus playthroughs then Thane now I am just that excited. I don't fear spoilers... spoilers should fear me.Posted Image

What Fuzzy said. With a decent sniper rifle he tends to do this less.

In fact he was actually stealing kills from me on my vanguard run, I'd charge one guy, turn around to finish off another only to see them keel over and hear "scoped and dropped!".
It was awesome.

I love taking Garrus with me on Vanguard runs. He offers great long-range support for the Vanguard's up-close and personal style - softening 'em up before I charge in, or saving my ass by firing a Concussive Shot and knocking down an enemy I'd failed to notice until after charging. Quite impressive.

Maybe its just my playthrus or something but Garrus is always the tactical one when I play XD He's always taking cover and snipering mercs before I can even aim for my headshots. Personally I do lil contests with Garrus all the time. And half the time he freaking wins cuz he steals my kills XDDDDD
I do love how Garrus does save my Shepard quite often. During my insanity run on horizon, i would have husks taking down my shields and BAM! concussive shots save my butt from death. Or when a scion got to close for comfort - before i shot it down with my shotgun - BAM! Sniper shot from a distance and took it down. Heck, I wont forget what Garrus & Legion did during Legions LM. My controller died on me, and obviously the game doesnt pause when this happens - so as im freaking out to get my  back up rechargables, my shields started dying. Then Garrus actually stood in FRONT of me shooting geth and legion went off ahead. They murdered all the geth trying to take my shep down and I went back into the action with my sheilds full. As soon as i started moving Garrus moved up. Those are my boys! I love how Garrus is in my game. Maybe I got some special copy XD

*snip* hence possibility that 'Sovereign' is helping Shep (batarian bartender, Arrival dlc, collector base)
Maybe Reapers have their own factions/some have different 'ideas?'
(need more renegade to really see the red on Shep... IF I can get a pic of one my Renegades I will)

Just my view on it, its possible. (EDI mentions later in game that her "Design includes hardware recovered from the wreckage of Sovereign; if ask about "Anti-Reaper Aligorims" (however it's spelt))

I highly doubt Sovereign is helping, or at least not on purpose. Sovereign made his plans plenty clear in me1, and theyre the same as Harbingers plan. Meaning "Evil destroy all known life in the entire galaxy" plans. It could be very possible that Shepard has some sovereign somewhere in her many cybernetics. I wouldnt put it past Cerberus to pull off something like that. Also no one should even base the whole thing on the "renegade scars = reaper tech". In me1, didnt shep have them redish eyes too. Just not very much - they were faint right? Anyways, My shep is paragade, she got no scars. Who cares about morality in this topic? Point is that Shep COULD have the tech, regardless of renegade or paragon. Its an interesting concept. All the things that would easily have killed a human, didnt kill Shepard - going back to that poison from the batarian bartender as a prime example. I just think the Reapers want Shep because we'll.....look at her. Her rep is doing the impossible, she has the cipher, undersatnds protheans, killed one of them, and they wanted her body even BEFORE she was revived. They wouldve succeeded too with not for Liara and Feron.
And now she could very well have sovereign tech inside her. Reaper Interest +100 increased. She's the ultimate soldier, and they know it.
I STILL think they did something to her during arrival. She was out for 2 days for crying out loud in their lab. Who knows what they did. Maybe they were researching her cybernetics to see if cerberus did use reaper tech? Or they tampered with the cybernetics so she could succumb to indoctrination? The possibilities are endless. Though whatvere they did was obvious not completed, she woke up and kicked ass ;D

Well whatever the issue was it let me take some screenshots successfully this time around...

reposting fanfic cover (without text) I made since it has Renegade ('Sovereign')red-eyes, I am working on the fanfic... hope to have more done soon.

though note that Shep isn't really "full/true" Renegade,

Yeah, my golden-eyed Shepard doesn't have enough Renegade to make her eyes glow red. That does look like Saren's eyes when he was taken over by Sovereign.

Cool cover, by the way. What's the fanfic about?

my take on the "truths" behind stuff; reposting cover with text. Fanfic itself tends to start a bit in the middle but will reveal past-stuff soon after

um... besides needing more shep/saren fanfics out there...
well, a sort of bridge between ME2 and ME3
also fill in the gaps; other gaps  (maybe some before ME1?) ((fShepxSaren//fShepxGarrus; sure I like Garrus but prefer Saren more...))
Follows: comics (Redemption & Evolution), books (only read Revelation through), & games+ all dlc ((nevermind genises interactive comic) (more fun to me to do Arrival dlc after Suicide Mission)

All I'll say is: Saren & Sovereign are not gone (still "alive"), consider for a moment: Normandy crash site dlc, it's in pieces yet still has working parts - lights blinking, so whats to say that Sovereign even in pieces isn't working?:?:?

2- Same here. I never really play full on renegade. In me1 - i was pretty much paragon, but in me2 im a big time paragade. Im totally kind to my crew/allies. Im sometimes rude to my enemies in that dialog wheel and i did do like 2-3 renegade decisions on some LMs XP And i LOVE the interrupts. I used just about all of them. Headbutt a krogan = priceless.
I love how sometimes hitting someone makes me paragon. [Hitting Zaeed and Archer] NICE!
My Shep is just a good friend to her crew - but wont think twice about pushing a merc thru a glass window to his death LOL!
3- You have no idea >.< They wont. They pretty much want what they cant have XP

Ugh, I guess I'm stuck with Kaiden now, because he was talking about he was looking forward to some alone time (or something along those lines) and all I could say was "me too" in 3 different styles ;D

Not true Violet! And fear not Ursula! Theres a way to break it off! Its quite mean, but its the only way to do it if u already are that far into it.
Its during the locker scene when the normandy is on lock down in the citadel. Choose the renegade options and its called off. Trust me in works. Kaiden dont show up for the romance scene at all.

I've never actually saved myself for Garrus. Is it worth it?
