Lorik is awesome. He was really nice to Shepard, and adorable when he messed up human expressions.

Still in progress, but yes - I've already encountered that.

I've started reading the comics and books in order now, and I loved to read so much more about Saren's past! About his brother, and how he got Sovereign.
Too bad there is nothing about his past with Nihlus, I would've loved to know more about that.

Nihlus' wiki page says more about his past and time with Saren than anything else, unless you've already read it.

I loved the extra Saren information too.I had been wanting to know more about Saren's brother and their role in the First Contact War for a while, and then Evolution comes out. The only thing it didn't tell me was Saren's military rank, but I was so happy to read about everything else, it doesn't bother me that they didn't include that one detail.
Nihlus' wiki page says more about his past and time with Saren than anything else, unless you've already read it.
Thanks, I'll check that out next
I've just started reading Ascension now, and I'm glad I did. As much as dislike what TIM does, (or actually, my shepard dislikes him..) it's very interested to read more about the man.

I like TIM, even if I don't agree with everything he does. I can see his reasons behind it, and most importantly, he brought Shepard back to life. The fact that he helped out when everyone else did nothing made him a lot more fun for me to work with than the Council. Plus, those councillors were already getting on my nerves with their constant criticism, and the air-quotes were just the last straw. xD Even turian-loving MainShep might not want to save them a second time.

Here's some Saren and Nihlus info. Nothing there that isn't copied on ME wiki, I think, but it's nice to see the source.
I'm pretty sure they originally intended Nihlus to stay alive quite a bit longer and actually "teach" Shepard to be a Spectre. Mostly because of the details in his backstory and the fact that more effort went into making a model for him than for Garrus. I guess then they decided that they should make the beginning even more dramatic by killing him, or maybe that he was stealing the spotlight from Shepard, or that Saren didn't appear quite evil enough without it. Eh.
I'd do things differently.

I'm busy playing my first ME2 playthrough that didn't save the council, and I really dislike how people react about it :/ Ahwell, my shep couldn't care less really 8D.

I wish Bioware would explore more of the species background (culture, history, geography) so we could extrapolate more on Turians.

I think the whole point is to make you unhappy about how the rest of the species react.
Just like you most of my renegades cant be bothered. But have that paragon who decided to concentrate on Sovereign to save the people on the Citadel. She's pretty pissed at everyone's reaction because she never believed possible to save both the council and defeat Sovereign. She even refused to take back her Spectre status. I cant wait to see where she will sit on the paragon/renegade scales once Im done with ME2.

Yeah, it's the same for me. If my paragon shepard wouldn't have saved the council, she's really be pushed towards renegade more. Just because she can get pretty mean about injustice.

I killed the council on my first run and thought that shopkeeper was a git, then was completely floored by how nice he was on my paragon run. <3

Two very, very good reasons IMO. I don't know why it just stings when Etarn hates you when you didn't save the Council, but it does. My PT where I didn't save them (generated from Genesis), I was just shocked how different he was. (That PT is in limbo. This isn't the primary reason, but...yeah. I'd rather save the Council.)

It wasn't quite amoment, but the contrast there is huge.
The way Bioware handled the turian shopkeeper is pretty solid IMO. It makes for some perfect roleplay moment.
Sometimes my Sheps feel sorry they couldnt save the council and try to appologise to him (paragon answer) even if they are paragade or renegon. Only my most focus on mission and most <racist> Sheps rub his face in the fact that WE saved the Citadel and now WE defend it.
Anyone else think Bioware gave some of the best roleplay moments to Turians? Like moments that lets your Shep express his/her personality.
With Nihlus you can state early what you think of collaborating with aliens
The head of C-Sec (I forgot his name) also gives you the opportunity to express what you think of human/turian relations
There's 2 other C-Sec turians who give you quests with some renegade/paragon points (one starts with getting Jenna out of Chora's Den and the other to stop the Hanar from talking about the Enkindlers)
The Turian Concilor always pushes Shep too far during debriefings so you can really show if your Shep will tell him to shut it or be diplomat
Lorik is also fun to chat with
Compared to that ME2 only has the turian shopkeeper and Gavorn <_<
At least we get to romance Garrus!
I hope the Turians in ME3 will be as well written as those we got so far. Specially those generals we are supposed to meet (the ones in the screenshot)

ME2 did have quite a dip in interactions with turians when you compare it to ME1. Though there are still memorable characters none the less.
Hmmm theres Sergeant Haron. Though we dont really interact with him, he's just....there XP [turian in hallway of C-Sec Customs entrance that stops shepard for a second everytime from going in]. Theres also Racist turian and techno turian!
.....And who can forget Joram Talid
At least we'll be able to interact with the council in person and such. Valern seems to finally believe the Reaper threat. He's heard through Shepard's communicator on Tuchanka when he's sending in turian fleets to distract the Reaper in the VGA video. Ive listened to it quite abit and it sure as heck sounds like Valern. Then again I could be mistaken, but that voice is quite recognizable.

Exactly this! I ended up replaying my paragon Shepard because I didn't
realize that the Destiny Ascension had so many people aboard. (I was thinking it was only the council) and I said to focus on Sovereign and Shep wouldn't have wanted that many sacrificed. Then when I ran into Etarn again I was like "He's sooo awesome now!" I love his little role-play session. X3 I also heard much about the air
quotes and wanted to see it for myself. I actually like the council.

Just for fairness to renegade players, I have to point out you do send just as many human soldiers to die (10 000 lives in both cases) if you choose to save the Destiny Ascension.
Theres no getting out of that one easy.

I didn't mean to be unfair to renegades. I wasn't really clear on how many were lost with either choice. That was just my experience. I'm often confused.

I didnt want to make it sound personal. Its just something I read often on paragon vs renegade threads. The whole <saving the good ones>... like theres a way to mesure if 10k soldiers are worth more/less then the 10k Destiny Ascension staff people
I bet if you ever replay ME1 then I just made it harder on you to make that final choice :innocent:

If it turns out that the Reapers have taken a lot of turians from Palaven or other colonies, I wouldn't be surprised about the similarity. Before Evolution, I thought the exotic-looking fringe was only in Saren's family (I always imagined his brother had it too), but many others had the same kind of fringe in the comic. Only Desolas had a strong resemblance to Saren though. In the first comic, before they brightened his colors and gave him tattoos, I guessed he was Saren until they said his name. xD And if one of the Reaper-combined monsters doesn't have that style of fringe, I'd say it was just a design decision. Which looks cooler?ArcanaLegacy wrote...

We're going back to Noveria in ME3?! Oh no, I still haven't corrected that little screw-up in my first import where I accidentally gave Parasini the evidence. D: I can't play through two games in two months when I'm busy with other stuff. Guess I'll just have to leave it as-is for now.
Invasion is the one with Aria, yes. I have the first three, and #4 is coming out this month before the new novel, Deception. Both of those will lead into ME3.
The best roleplay moment I've ever had was the Saren conversations, so yeah, I agree with you. I just can't say enough good things about those scenes... It really felt like the two of them were interacting, like I was able to influence a movie, and Shepard was getting through to him. Just brilliant.outmane wrote...
