If it turns out that the Reapers have taken a lot of turians from Palaven or other colonies, I wouldn't be surprised about the similarity. Before Evolution, I thought the exotic-looking fringe was only in Saren's family (I always imagined his brother had it too), but many others had the same kind of fringe in the comic. Only Desolas had a strong resemblance to Saren though. In the first comic, before they brightened his colors and gave him tattoos, I guessed he was Saren until they said his name. xD And if one of the Reaper-combined monsters doesn't have that style of fringe, I'd say it was just a design decision. Which looks cooler?

Really? Most turian fans think Li is awesome!TNT1991 wrote...

Too bad we can't interact with him more, he seems to be the most unique Turian in ME.

I've seen the evil mustache theory before. xD My favorite is still "it gives him wi-fi."Chewin3 wrote...
I like Saren's fringe. Reminds me of a mustache (at least in some fanarts).
It's definitely a minority trait in turians, but there are quite a few in Evolution who have it. The only one I could find a picture of online at the moment is this guy on the first page of volume 1 (link to BioWare blog preview).Lady Olivia wrote...
It is not at all common. If anyone can show me a single turian that is neither Saren nor Desolas, with this kind of fringe, I will be happy to correct my statement, but until then, I have to insist: it is unique for Arterius brothers.

But if it is true that all turian husks have fringes like that, I will be very saddened and disappointed because it would mean that Bioware sees Saren as a symbol of evil and corruption and, worse still, that they think all the fans associate Saren's unique features with nothing but evil and corruption. I'm not saying this association is unfounded. But it is flattening and oversimplifying and in the eyes of a fangirl like me, it's a definite insult to a beloved character.

There are a lot of great turians on Noveria. Lorik, Li, that guard who wants a donut...
It'll be awesome to go back there in ME3. Noveria was one of my favorite locations. It's too bad I won't be able to see the result of giving Lorik the data on my first playthrough (I messed it up, have no time to replay that FemShep before ME3, and I have to play her first to see the outcome of the Garrus romance), but I guess someone has to play out the other options and tell you guys how it turns out, right? xD
@Arcana: I think that is the reason why Saren was so different from the other turians shown in the games so far, because he's an important character and they wanted him to stand out. It probably had something to do with not wanting to make extra character models too. That's why we haven't seen any female turians in the game yet. It's understandable that they didn't want to add in extra turian models just to show different fringe types. Evolution was a good way to show that there are others out there with fringe like Saren's (although I was disappointed with the appearance of female turians). Saren still has a completely different body type when you compare him to other turians.
Congrats on finishing your playthrough! You're lucky that choosing the Renegade dialogue in the lockdown scene actually ends the trap romance for you... I tried it, and I got nothing. Poor Talimance MaleShep. Even Virmire's not a solution for him. *has to replay his game again to recruit Liara last now*
I think as long as you stay away from her personal conversations, anything that's not mission-related, you should be fine. I tried to go through all of the squadmate conversations for once, and that turned out to be a big mistake, so I'm just recruiting her last to be extra safe. xDUrsulaCousland wrote...
Crap. I'm doing Noveria now with Liara (b/c of her mother). Would it be safer to do Feros without her first? I was using the 'avoid her' strategy.
Well, then she won't mind when my MaleShep takes out his anger by yelling at her when she's hallucinating.Nashiktal wrote...

The bright side of needing to replay him again: Saren, Nihlus, ME1 Garrus with the perfect armor I found for him, Lorik, Li, clicking on the donut turian way too much, Septimus, Chellick, smart remarks to the turian councillor... and also his relationship with Tali. And Wrex. At least the game is so much fun, I won't mind it.

Yeah, the things we'll go through for Garrus, our Shepards, perfect playthroughs... I think most of us here have either played through ME1 an extra time, or just really fast, to get a FemShep who stayed single for Garrus into ME2. It was the "really fast playthrough" for me. I bought ME1 a few months before ME2 came out, played a MaleShep, found out online that Garrus would be a romance option, and rushed a FemShep. xD
I still can't use sniper rifles in ME1. Maybe it's because I tried them out on a Vanguard.
HA! Me1 romances, glitchy like nuts. The Sarendoctrinator wrote...
The romance glitch with Liara happens if you choose "I'm not interested" instead of "Let's be friends." My MaleShep didn't want to be friends...

Oh garrus - look at the trouble we go through to be with you! Its like we have to beat them off with sticks XD
I always imagined 2 scenes that took place with my shep. One real - one just for lulz.
*garrus underneath mako, doing repairs* [Suddenly hears footsteps and looks to see who it is]
Shepard: *smiling down at him* Hey Garrus. Got a minute?
Garrus: *curiousity peaking* Eh, Sure Shepard. Need me for something?
Shepard: Actually I do. But more in the sense I need something FROM you.....
Garrus: *gives a confused gaze to Shepard and stands up to see her face to face* What is it exactly that you need?
Shepard: The pole up your ass.
[Wrex laughs in the distance]
Garrus: Wait, what?!
Shepard: I need it to beat off some admirers that dont seem to get the message that Im not interested. I just need it for a few minutes and I'll return it to you.

And about the ME1 romances, I didn't have a problem with Kaiden, but Liara on the other hand will not quit. It's not a glitch but "canon/story-wise" or something. My shepard makes it painfully obvious in ME1 (to both Kaiden and Liara) that she's not interested in either of them. Kaiden backs off and stops trying to "whoo" her for the next two games. Liara on the other hand backs off for a short time, but when Shepard died she starts collecting her armor, displaying them in her room in glass boxes, keeps Shepard's dog tags for herself, etc. Some fans who romanced her might find it "romantic" or "sweet". My Shepard on the other hand finds it creepy and stocker-ish. I haven't read the comics but, she has a drell guy with her this whole time but it seems like, IMO, she wants Shepard and only Shepard. I think I remember in LotSB she even tries to convince Shepard about "how they were still meant for each other" or something like that. Even when that same Shepard already told her no the first time and is now hot for a certain Turian in blue. I wouldn't be surprised if she tries to make Garrus "disappear" in ME3.
(Now that I thought about it, that would be funny if she does try that in the next game. lol)
