I've been considering redoing ME2 just to ensure that, but I don't want to gimp myself in ME3.  I'm waiting to see just how much I'll be shooting myself in the foot if I went ahead with it.  And yes, it's sad I'm even contemplating it for this, but this pairing with Garrus/[spoiler] is just so...out there...and...yes, insulting...it's driven me to that point.  I can think of a few far more appropriate hook-ups for the two characters, but these two together is just...no.

As for the UNWANTED CANON SHIPPING, it's obvious fandom trollbait, but I can't deny that they... I dunno, WORK together. He's definitely her type, and he likes women with spunk. And the fact that their relationship evolved like that way the hell out of nowhere somehow makes it... more realistic?

Probably because I've personally encountered so many WHAT THE HELL WHY ARE YOU TWO DATING situations in real life. And a large portion of them just... worked.

But seriously I hate how basically every fictional series out there can't have two people of the opposite sex just stay really good friends WHOOPS I JUST FORGOT THAT'S BASICALLY HOW THE GARRUSMANCE GOT STARTED IGNORE ME FOLKS.

I think after playing DA2 I was annoyed that bioware decided to make BOTH male love interests bang a certain party member in some fashion (Isabella). It soured the hawke relationship a bit because I knew if I didn’t romance fenris he’d just boink the nearest team member (and not leave her for 3 years when he did). And if I romanced anders well he boinked her already so that was fun to hear in conversation.

I was hoping they would stop this trend when they made ME3 but that's obviously not the case. I loved the idea that femshep was the exception , that she was SO SPECIAL he would over look her being human. This kind of...ruins that.

If one isn't romanced, they hook up.  That's the only condition I'm aware of...though I hope it 1)doesn't make it into game in the first place or 2)takes a hell of a lot more than that.  In order of preference. <_<

For me, it's not that I'm weirded out on the idea of Garrus hooking up, I just...expected (hoped?) it would be with someone that made more sense.  Namely his own species.  I would have loved to see him hook up with a nice turian lady, especially considering his not-really-into-cross-species roadbump thing.  (Okay, and it would mean I got to see female turians, so I'm not exactly a disinterested party.)

That's exactly what bothers me most.  It was SUCH A BIG DEAL GOING OUT WITH A NON-TURIAN OMG HOW CAN WE DO IT and now it's like that whole thing was just...a lie or something  Maybe Garrus thought saying that would be attractive to another species?  Who knows with the kind of research he was doing!

Dammit, really? *^above posts regarding non-shep/garrus hook ups* That drove me rather batty in DA2 with Fenris. And, yes, because of all the fuss over 'no one else ever caught my eye" (insert: no non-turian's ever done it for me) just seems to be an utter non-issue with someone else. *grumps*

Thaaaat said... to be fair, I'm sure the writers all have their own in-jokes/what-ifs/creator-musings, little tid-bits they share with us in-game in small ways. So I'll try to look at this instance as something of the same. And, well, my main Shep is all Garrus so I'll also hope not to encounter it in-game whatsoever (please no bugs on this... please, please, please!)

Also dying to know who this supposed hook up is, but if its who I think I don't think I want another reason to dislike her. ¬.¬

I'm pretty certain there's an option NOT to recruit one of them so then the romance won't happen since only one will be on the ship.  But we'll see when the game comes out...

I also think it's really bizarre that they'd put him in another interspecies relationship IN GAME.  Since we're apparently not getting female Turians, I guess they decided to go with what they had.  I don't know.  To me, it makes the Garrus/Femshep romance seem less special now...I know I should love it and be happy with whatever Bioware does with Garrus but that's just how I feel about it :/

Garrus and Ashley would be pretty hot, I must admit.  I'd actually go for that more than the one happening in game, regardless of the interspecies stuff.

Considering how he calls her "Williams" instead of "Ashley" or "Ash" (he calls the other characters by their given names), I get the impression that he views her in a professional or formal way rather than a friend, exactly.
