I keep trying to reason in my head how they would work out but it's not quite happening. Garrus and X just seems like fanfiction subplot to me but that's not my place to say.
The script only tells us and outline of what happens, but not all of it, and it still lacks the depth present when the VA's do the lines. I'm just hoping that when I hear/see the romance, it will make more sense then. That's what I'm hoping for atleast.
Joker and Spoiler I saw coming, just because they bounced off of each other a lot but I did not see the same with Garrus and X.

Yeah, I could see it coming with Joker and SPOILER but not with Garrus and (can I just say the name since I think most everyone knows who it is?) X.  Some people have suggested that their dialogues from ME1 and the one in ME2 are indicative of interest on Garrus' part but I'm not so sure.  In the first game he's basically being a jerk to her about the Geth and in ME2 he's either continuing being a jerk or just teasing.  Someone said he only teases her with an unromanced Shepard, but that is definitely not the case because I've had their conversation happen well after the romance was established with either of them.

I just wonder...did Bioware plan this from the start, like back in ME1?

Tali is a true friend. And I like watching oblivious Garrus. It's so adorable. Dr. Michel, however, should fear a Renegade interrupt from my FemShep. Stop flirting with her man!

Oh, I completely forgot about this. I think she's only on the Normandy if Chakwas is dead (meaning, no escort in the suicide mission), so I might not even see this in my game. Does it only happen if Dr. Michel is on the Normandy?

Yeah, now that you mention it... this is kind of strange. Maybe all of my Shepards who romance Garrus and Kaidan should just walk into her clinic and shout "OBJECTION!"

@darthnick: I agree. I'd like to see this too, but I'd hate to kill off Chakwas for it. I don't know if I could justify Kiara Shepard not sending an escort with her. She's so protective.

Garrus & X: (I guess we're sticking to 'x' though I know the names been dropped all over the place in earlier pages, ha) I still think its just a result of the kind of banter I imagine goes on when the writers are plugging away. Like others I got the 'sibling' vibe from those two by the end of ME1 and definitely in ME2. But it wouldn't be the first time two people who start off with a kind of sibling vibe develop beyond that, not being blood related and all. And, more so, I don't think it's wrong to presume that the writers probably love these two characters as much as so many of their fan base does, ya know? So I can imagine a simple pairing out of wanting to put two awesome characters together - assuming neither gets grabbed by Shep - for no greater reason than their awesomeness. Simple as that and ultimately it sounds really minor.

I thought it was near the beginning, but not sure.  More of a hope on my part, I guess

And yeah, I'm not sure if we really need to continue with the whole "spoiler avoidance" thing.  I mean...this is the spoiler version of the Garrus thread...so...yeah, now that I think about it, why aren't we using that to our full advantage?

Well...I still hope BW chooses not to implement the Garrus/Tali relationship at all, if only because you will get people going on about how they're one of the "canon" couples for the ME series.  Pretty sure that's started cropping up here and there...granted, perhaps they were joking about it.  Not to mention the ick factor (and for me, personally, I just see it being very poorly executed and it doesn't fit with these two considering how I view their interactions).  And also because...okay, look.  They're making a Mass Effect movie that follows the games.  I will  if they have that particular "canon" reflected in the films.  So really, I'm still just hoping it isn't implemented at all.

BUT in the unfortunate off-chance that it is...then I will just have to go back and make sure any playthroughs I happen to have without a Garrus romance will have Tali permanently absent.

And tbh, all I can do is laugh at poor Dr. Michel's plight.  I'm going to lol over that chocolate scene, I think...as I sashay away with Garrus on my Shepard's arm.

It's time's like this when I wish the Mass Effect writer were more active on the forums like the Dragon Age ones are   I'd be interested to know how they decided who should hook up and who shouldn't.  This pairing with Garrus is still a little upsetting to me, but I will respect it and be happy that others can enjoy it <3

As for the writers sharing with us on the forums -- man, I'd loooove to pick their brains about all manner of things. But given how some people act on these forums, I'm really not surprised they keep their distance. I would, too, in their shoes. I've only recently started posting here because so far this thread eems amazingly devoid of the kinds of posts I see elsewhere. And thank you all for that, btw.

Garrus/Femshep romance lines are all good for me since I mostly play as Male Shep and anything Garrus related is welcome unless it's so hilarious I want to experience it in the game

As far as his recruitment, it seems* to be comprable to ME2. In that you have introduction-opening mission-destination->first wave of assignments. Currently he looks like he's in that first wave.

*But I wouldn't hold fast to that, given how much the party recruitment order changed during ME2's development.

nonsense Garrus will always be in the first tier of recruitments and missions because he's Shepard's token Turian badass sidekick. Shepard can't look cool without Garrus there can he/she?

I love all the lines! Though I still wince at using the term “boyfriend.” I wonder if there are changes in physical behavior with a romanced partner vs an unromanced one? For example...a cut-scene with a shared head-bump on the battlefield? Dunno, something like that, where their physical behavior adjusts depending on romance status. I know, that's probably just a wee too much fluff for the game. I can live with just the lines in that case. ^^

If the leaked lines remain, it does seem to indicate a kiss -- I sure hope there's something. Hell, I'd be happy with some well done nuzzling.

Yeah, that term itself isn't my favourite, but the line as a whole is fantastic.

And I'm with you on how it'd be awesome if there were changes in physical behaviour to accompany LI relationships ("shared head-bump on the battlefield?" ) but you're right: May be too much 'fluff' for the game.
