Liec, that "Garrus dating advice" picture is great. xD Lucky for me, he didn't pretend that he hasn't been with Shep yet in my game. He just repeats the "I haven't forgotten what we talked about" line, and I can work with that. :)

My favorite part is, "pretend you have computer sh*t to do." That's exactly what he does.

HOW DID YOU GET THAT LINE 0_o

*cough*

so what did you do to make that his last looping dialogue? *gets pen and paper* take your time.

I honestly think its random. But it may be tied to whether or not Kelly comments that they would make a good couple. Sometimes she won't say that on my playthroughs- and I think its because of the first conversation with Jacob. Whenever I don't talk to him until Garrus is on board, she says the line. And then I'm fairly sure that ends up being the game with the looping dialogue. Then the other times she doesn't say it, and it glitched.

I've played through ME2 about four or five times with a romanced Garrus, and about half of them got the line. I don't think it will actually impact your import though, since Kasumi and Liara still comment on the relationship as completed.

Actually, it seems dependant on whether or not you've destroyed the Collector Base during Suicide Mission; at least that's how it was for me and my many playthroughs me1+me2... ^_^:happy:

I always do that and the conversation just... stops after Shepard speaks. Apparently Kelly be jelly in my game, and doesn't want to encourage Shep. Not that my Shep needs any encouragement to go after her space dinosaur. :3

You need to talk to her and explore all dialogue options when you do (not the romantic implications with her routes) just so she feels like she can talk to you casually or she'll keep it to herself.

I spent a good chunk of time during the demo just diving towards Garrus screaming, "LET ME LOVE YOU!"

Dunno if this has been brought up, but did anyone notice a (minor) plot flaw in ME2?

One of the merc leaders said that NONE of Archangel's men knew who he was, and yet Sidonis freaked out the moment Shepard says Garrus's name during his loyalty mission.

Not a big deal but...

It really bothers me. lol

It bothered me when Shepard received that e-mail a wife of one of Garrus' fallen comrades. I can understand his team knowing his name but holy **** guys, ever heard of OPERATIONAL SECURITY?

That is why I never got that bit of dialogue. My canon FemSep is horrified by how naive and 'casual' Kelly sees the fact that she (Shepard) is forced to work for Cerberus. I'd have liked an option to yell 'you think this is all a joke !?' and leave her on the nearest hub planet.
Too bad Id have to let my favorite engineer couple to let her become proteins milkshake.

Am I the only one who think Garrus would avoid her like the pest for all ME2 ? He has a hard time talking about his grief to Shepard, I cant see him wanting to be pitied by Kelly.

That said I also have a Shep who romanced her to see what gives in ME3. Hopefully she was a Cerberus spy monitering you all along and not a naive kid :ph34r:

The first catching routine (Shep catching a squaddy) has to do with the position of the squadmates you bring with you. You always catch the left one (or was it the right one. I havent dont the SM in a long time). The position (which appears on each side of Shep) is random and can change when you reload the game.

Teh second catching routine is based on a aspecific list order. And Garrus is somewhat at the bottom of that list. I know that bringing Jack with me lets Garrus catch Shep but for the actual full list, youd need to look at the SM guide Pacifien made back then. it might still be on the ME2 forum.

-Falling into your arms
-shooting that armless robot before you do, and looking amused about it
-Frantically trying to get the door open to get to you

I thought I was one of few who played the dlc post SM in that order. I ALWAYS play Overlord > LOTSB > Arrival post SM. It just makes more sense storywise. ESPECIALLY Arrival.
I love thinking that Overlord is their 1st mission together, aside from the SM. I love that Garrus tries desperately to pry open the door that locks shut when Shepard is being affected by David via virtual reality and such. Like he's trying to get to her and protect her <3 As for that loki mech he shoots - I love that! I have the whole list somewhere saved on my pc.
*rummages thru files* AH! Here ya go. Hope it helps Image IPB

Pulls Shepard onto the Normandy

Note: Squadmates need to be in Shepard's squad for the final battle. If one dies, the other pulls Shepard up. If both die, a survivor from the defense will pull Shepard up.
Miranda -> Zaeed -> Kasumi -> Tali -> Jacob -> Mordin -> Samara -> Grunt -> Legion -> Garrus -> Jack -> Thane

Shepard Catches a Squadmate Falling Down the Platform
- Shepard will catch the squadmate whose icon is on the RIGHT.
- If your final battle required a reload, the icons can sometimes switch places. Shepard will catch the squadmate whose icon is currently on the RIGHT

Other Stuff
- The squadmate whose icon is on the LEFT will be the one who uses the omnitool for the Illusive Man's communication except for when Miranda is present.
- Regardless of her icon position, Miranda will always be the one using the omnitool.
- The squadmate whose icon is on the RIGHT will be the one who hands Shepard the device that either blows up/clears out the base.

Personally I found it rather strange [and downright retarded] that Garrus is down there. Below Zaeed even? REALLY!? He's like Sheps bro! Male or Femshep! OF COURSE Garrus catch her/him! Why put him so low on the list Image IPB

First, this pic made me think of Liara and Femshep during the LotSB. Well maybe not my Femshep because she is pretty indifferent to Liara. But the 2 gals in the flying taxi...

As for the order of the dlc mission. I always play Arrival after the SM, with all my Sheps. In my head, they dont even get the mission until the SM is cleared and the Normandy is repaired.

The Overlord I like to do after I get Legion. That way my renegade Sheps have a 'logical' reason to save David, such as not needing him since they have an other source of geth information (my paragon and paragade Sheps jsut save him out of human sense and the 2 Sheps who sold Legion keep him strapped. I dont like it but its for the sake of seeing what happens in ME3 and roleplaying). With my canon Shep romancing Garrus, I like to do Overlord once the romance is activated. It makes the story feel like Garrus cares for her even if the romance isnt consumated yet. Doing it after I gave the finger to TIM and destroyed the CB makes no sense with the 'Tim can fire me if he doesnt like it' line so I never do it after the SM (I guess you can always headcanon that shep says something else but it jsut bothers me.

LotSB I do earlier or later depending on the relation between Shep and Liara. If I want to emphatize that Liara is too busy to help Shep and give Shep a reason to be cold to her in ME3, I do it after the SM (thats how it went with my canon Shep). For Sheps who romanced her, I do it early if I want to go back to her in ME2 without 'cheating' and later if I want a touching 'Im sorry I strayed' reunion and prepare to go back with her in ME3. More often then not I do it just before Arrival.

All the possibilites ! ^_^

Yeah, I have her catch Jack instead. First i think its important for Jack character development to see she isnt expendable. Its sad you dont learn about her failed mission with her last boyfriend with FemShep cause its only part of the romance dialogue but I still like to roleplay that it shows her that no one gets left behing with Shepard (everyone survived the SM with my canonShep. The only ones who die are half the Cerberus crew because I thought it made sense on a roleplay level. I dont like the SM to feel too easy and my SS Shepard never fully trusted the Cerberus bunch. Of course she feels bad about it afterward but she totally blames TIM for it. I also wanted time to use Legion so that it makes sense Shep trusts him enough to bring him to the SM).

Second reason is that Shep helped Garrus enough. I like to feel like he is his own man in ME2 so I prefer he only catches Shepard.

I usually use the 'catch each other' for my bromancescause it gives the perfect 'we have each other's back' feeling.

Edit: English language why u hate me so much?

Darn, you're right! Oh well ,other cute stuff happens so I don't mind ^_^ And since someone asked,
for the suicide mission I brought jack and garrus along so that garrus catches shep and jack can enjoy helping me blow up something cerberus wanted. I think jack would have been the only female my sheps would have wanted to romance (my akuze shep especially Image IPB ) if she was available but I'm happy for to remain a badass friend.

This is my headcanon. Like when the dlc got launched in the 1st place. We all had to boot up our older completed files and post SM is when Hackett contacts Shep. I like to think the it kinda puts more emphasis on the relationship b/w Shep and Garrus. Shepard leaves on a mission, doesnt get any contact from her for 2days. Garrus wouldve been extremely worried. Pacing in the main battery and not being able to concentrate on his work. Thinking that he doesnt lose her.....Again. Because he's not there like the 1st time. Deep down, he'd have so much trouble coming to grips with himself if he lost Shepard again and due to his absense a 2nd time - he didnt have a chance to save her. He'd have to wonder "what if..." and maybe [hopefully not] blame himself this time around if she did die in arrival.

Oh gawd that my one gripe about doing it post SM. Im surprised BW never altered that line if the dlc was done post SM like the rest of the dlc. At the beginning Archer talks about Shepard having gone to stop the collectors and such. So either that was a dialogue derp on BW's part or IDK.

Outmane wrote...

I kinda had this going in my headcanon but more to it. Liara was quite busy and so was Shepard. I felt that recruiting everyone, preparing and the timed requests of TIM [how he forces Shep to go to Horizon and the derelict reaper w/o chioce] came as a priority and that time was short. With the added urgency of constant colony abductions and all. Plus Id like to think Shep received the info on the SB rather late, but never had a chance to pass it to Liara due to everything currently going on. So post SM, my canon shep felt she had the chance to go give Liara the info but received the news bout overlord - wanting to prevent that VI getting off world ASAP - Liara had to wait. The shadow broker would still be around regardless, and this gave Liara a chance to get as much info on him as possible too. My Sheps only regret was that she, as well as Liara - had no idea Feron was alive in the 1st place. So as soon as they discovered it - BAM! RESCUE!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of LOTSB: I brought this up in the classic garrus thread but never here.
Theres a line that always bothered me. Not in the sense it could be a "dialog derp" but its actually referring to something.
Everyone on Omega pretty much knew Archangel "died" after the raid on his base. When confronting the SB, he says "Your friend's bounty is still unclaimed." Obviously this is the SB we're talking about here - of course if anyone knew the truth of Archangel's fate - it'd be him. What's crazy is that the SB knew just by looking at Garrus, meaning he knew Archangel's true identity from the start. Judging from the terminal in the base, he's done some extensive research on Garrus. Now what worries me is if he mentioned the bounty - MAYBE, just MAYBE, the SB couldve leaked out some hint that Archangel was still alive. Itd be some pain if every merc started hunting Garrus down again. Well....if they could lol. Its quite a large galaxyImage IPB But the SB has sources and spies EVERYWHERE @_@ I bet he could track Garrus in an instant if he really wanted to. I highly doubt in ME3 Garrus will be referred to as Archangel, so Ive put the thought of him being hunted down by mercenaries to rest. Plus since Liara is the new SB, she could leak out info that Archangel is dead after all.
edit:
off topic for a sec: Thought id share this absolutely ridiculous news.
ME3 copies will be coming from the sky in select states.
....No. Im not kidding.
Watch some of them land in the ocean. Lucky fish....
Actually the SB saying nothing about Garrus whereabouts (is that how that word is spelled) makes sense to me because the SB is in the business of information. Of course he doesnt want freelancer and mercs eliminating Garrus (lets pretend they could go pass Shepard for the sake of the argument ;)) before he could get a good price out of it by finding to the most offering merc warlord interested. Maybe with the 3 bossesdead while recruiting Garrus, hes waiting for the bands to regroup or trying to find some other group to pay the price for Archangel info.
Wow, there's a lot to respond to today! Too much to quote everyone individually, so I'll just split them up by topic.
Kelly's line about Shep + Garrus: I don't think I got this line. My FemShep was either mean to Kelly or ignoring her throughout the whole playthrough because... I'll just be honest here, characters who flirt with/are attracted to everyone tend to annoy me, and make me worry about romance traps. Kiara avoided her, Liara, and Jacob like the plague. So Kelly saying that Shep and Garrus would make a cute couple is not the cause of the "I still haven't forgotten what we talked about" line repeating. Kasumi's comments can't be the cause either, as she has never been in my game.
Saving/Destroying the Collector base: That's an interesting idea. Pyn, your Shepard is mostly Renegade, right? And you've been getting the "I still haven't forgotten what we talked about" line in all of your playthroughs? My Kiara saved the base, and that's the line I got. Can anyone else who saved/destroyed the base confirm this?
Catching Garrus/Garrus Catching Shepard: Arcana's list is right. The squadmate whose icon is on the right will be the one Shepard catches. (And for the person who asked - you can change their position on the Xbox by getting Shep killed. The squadmate order resets itself, but it might take more than one try for them to change.) Garrus will catch Shepard is you bring Jack or Thane with you, or if the other squadmate dies (meaning, they have to be unloyal). Thane will only catch Shepard if the other squadmate dies. I got him to do it because my Miranda was unloyal. Frustrating Paragon/Renegade persuade checks actually came in handy for my suicide mission testing.
Thats a bit cold but I'll take it. Also the ability to say the dialogue options then have her repeat it in her own words has the potential to get embarrassing I mean I have to say them, but clicking them may help me save some face. :P
I was waiting for someone to test this out, and hoping that Garrus would have a generic response to anything that didn't translate into battle commands! xD So awesome!
Also, Garrus looks cool on his new "surfboard". What is that thing, anyway?
I just reloaded my canon ME2 save and went to double check: I've got the same repeating line you guys have. But my Shep is Paragon (a small amount of renegade, so Paragade?) and destroyed the Collector base. So I don't know what causes that loop.
Dana Shepard talked to Kelly, too and got the 'you'd make a great couple' line -- not that the line brought me any joy, Kelly would probably say the same if Shep showed a hint of interest in, I dunno, the biotic god volus on Ilium. Or the space hampster. *smirks* Ugh, convos with Kelly's were one of the few times I regretted playing a 'nice' Shep, seriously.
Wow, it never even occured to me to try and switch things up with Shep's squad so I can contrive certain squadmates in certain cut scenes *laughs* I always had Garrus lead the second group: He's the only one my Shep would trust/depend on implicitly -- she didn't have any beef with Miranda but didn't want to risk intra-squad issues (Miranda and Jack especially) by giving her command... besides which, Garrus still wins in the trust/dependability department. ^_^
Hehehe, I think that's one of the crazy riot shields some enemies carry now. Pain in the bottom to get around them, too.
Speaking of things from the demo: Man, has anyone playing on PC figured out how to leap over objects WITHOUT taking cover first? Wasn't that supposed to be something we could do now? :huh: Damn everything being keyed to spacebar. >.<
Aww, so I guess it's not saving/destroying the Collector base that determines it. Like I suggested in the beginning, it might just be everyone's individual game, with no real reason for it besides being "wired" differently and choosing a random repeat line of their own.
I don't even know what morality Kiara is anymore. I wrote down "Paragade in ME1 and Renegon in ME2" for my notes, but it's more a reflection of her mental state than anything else. This girl's ParaReneNeutral, as far as I can tell. She rejects the game's morality system and substitutes her own. :P
I chose Garrus for team leader both times too. I'll definitely switch it up in later playthroughs, but in general, more of my Shepards trust Garrus than Miranda or Jacob, and not many of them will choose a leader who doesn't work out. It's the squadmates who go with Shepard that get mixed up all the time. I like variety in my playthroughs.
I was waiting for someone to test this out, and hoping that Garrus would have a generic response to anything that didn't translate into battle commands! xD So awesome!
I really hope the new games reputation/morality/whatever system works out better than it did in the previous games. My as the RPer in me hated it, there were definitely times I stuck to Paragon responses just so I could build up that meter enough not to get shafted in future situations. Granted, what little I've seen/heard of the new reputation system so far confuses the hell out of me o.O
