Last screencaps for the night, any more and I feel like I'm spamming. I'm having way too much stupid fun in the demo just by screwing around:

Watching Garrus climb down the ladder.

Image IPB
Making Shepard and Garrus jump the gap in opposite directions...

Image IPB
...which knocks Garrus into the air. And what's a Mass Effect game without floating Garrus.

yukidama: yeah, stuff like fabric when close-up still looks like a mess...

It looks like they're dancing! Image IPB Ironically, the best way to do this in ME1 was to corner him against a wall on the dance floor in Flux, and then watch as his stationary animations made him look away from Shepard in embarrassment.

Supposedly the textures will be higher quality in the final release, but I don't trust BioWare PR at all....

A bit suggestive...

...Why is that arrow where it is? xD

The textures all look fine to me. I'm not picky about that sort of thing though. I've been playing Mass Effect on an SDTV, and I think the graphics are great. The text can be hard to read at times, but I've been told ME3 will fix that.

Haha, I just found the arrow's position amusing after he climbed up the ladder. As for the textures, they're pretty low quality... Everything is pixellated and blurry. More obvious when you play on a 22" PC monitor. The graphics themselves are fine, the texture quality is the issue.

Also, Garruscat by emperorcaligulove

They're directional arrows telling Shepard which way she can move, so it's also there to show where she should...go down.

I love this shot. ^_^

For those worried about the lack of high-res textures, BW via Twitter, iirc, said high-res textures would be in the final game.  They were probably just trying to keep the size of the demo down as much as possible.  So here's hoping!

Wow, looks like your Shepard's got the best location with the nicest view! :P
Is it just me or you have a Rei Ayanami like Shep?

Oh, and I'm new to BSN btw. Not sure about the etiquette for introducing myself.

Haha, you got me.  Saw the silver-blue hair in the character creator and knew what I had to do.  And you're doing fine.  Welcome!

Hey, thanks! :)
Well, I'm an Xbox player, but I started with ME2 six months ago. I'm not into shooters, so I'd never paid attention to the series until then. My first playthrough was as an adept, but now I'm proud to say I know how to use a sniper and my favorite class is infiltrator! When I went to recruit Archangel I had no idea who Garrus was, but I instantly adored him. He's sooo badass and sooo funny! Since then, I never leave the Normandy without Garrus. B)
Later I played ME1 and ME2 several times. I always play as femshep. Seriously, I'm so used to it that broshep feels like an impostor to me. Eventually I romanced Garrus in two of my playthroughs, but it still feels somewhat awkward to me. Nevertheless, I'm importing those saves and I expect a lot of awkwardness and funny jokes. And killing those damn Reapers, you know.

I personally feels the awkwardness fits the <friend to lover> relationship arc between Shepard and Garrus.Try proposing to your best friend in RL and see how that goes :P
I think our Turian friend did good work considering the species barrier and his fear of losing his best friend if things dont work out in the captain's cabin.

@Blankeflos: Welcome! I started my own crash course on ME (1&2, PC) about six months ago as well. Quite the ride isn't it!? I can only imagine what it was like going from ME2 to ME1 -- it was jarring enough playing them 'in order' back-to-back. Whew!

As for the awkwardness of the Garrus romance: Yeah, I feel you there. I love it and it's hands down my favourite romance arc - especially since it wasn't an option in ME1 which - inadvertently - made the romance building feel more 'real' to me - but it's definitely got it's awkward moments. Some of that is intentional and I like it (it's something he doesn't quite know how to approach, but once he thinks of it you can tell he's into the idea, if apprehensive of screwing it up). Some of it is, I think, a result of Garrus getting the short-stick so far as Shep/Convo's go -- I think I've read from others that Garrus was meant to be recruited late in the game, which got changed last minute, hence the relative lack of conversations? To me it's a relationship which requires a fair amount of 'headcanon' to flesh out/understand.... but I happen to have oodles of meandering imaginations in my head, so I'm cool with that. :D

Hey, speaking of feeling more connected to FemShep (I've never played a Sheploo myself - it's just never interested me): Have y'all read this article?

io9.com/5886178/why-mass-effect-is-the-most-important-science-fiction-universe-of-our-generation

It's a good read (if longish). I don't quite agree with all the points made (especially in regards to how Bioware/the ME universe presents humanity) but I liked the article and especially enjoyed that the writer seems to push FemShep (Hale-Shep as she's refered to) as the optimal Shep to indulge in. As a female gamer and FemShep lover it was awesome to read.

There's saddly a decided lack of Garrus/Turian love, but I'll forgive the article this faux pas. :innocent:
