I think our Turian friend did good work considering the species barrier and his fear of losing his best friend if things dont work out in the captain's cabin.

It has to be it. I've seen people saying they can't romance Garrus because he looks like a dinosaur... Honestly, I couldn't care less about it.

@Blankeflos: Welcome! I started my own crash course on ME (1&2, PC) about six months ago as well. Quite the ride isn't it!? I can only imagine what it was like going from ME2 to ME1 -- it was jarring enough playing them 'in order' back-to-back. Whew!

Thanks shygravel! I just got here and I'm already feeling like I'm home. ^_^
I'm glad that playing ME2 first didn't ruin my experience. And yeah, it's been quite the ride. I mean, it's been only six months and I have spent at least some 300 hours playing both games, and I have a real life to take care of!! When I played ME1 and saw Garrus for the first time I was like OMGOMGOMG GARRUS!!! Did you know you and I'll be best friends forever?!! :o

And I'm sure Bioware finally realised how important our favorite turian is to the ME series and will give him more things to do besides calibrations in ME3! I also use to fill the gaps the lack of lines Garrus provides us with my own imagination, but I don't wanna rely on it that much anymore...

Great article that one! I've read it all and couldn't help feeling proud of playing as femshep!

The big draw with Garrus for me was always that it was a rad bromance that sort of got off tracks into a plain old romance due to something Shep said that almost sounded like a joke. It's stupidly cute and I love it.

 Oh man, just played the demo. I think I almost fell out of my seat with happiness when I heard that Wrex/Garrus banter. I miss my ME1 asskicking squad. :crying:

Oh my god the dinosaur comic is so funny, I laugh every time I see it XD I can imagine Shep being dead serious when she says it too.

I remember when I first saw Garrus I was like :v what...? But then of course I quickly succumbed to that voice and personality. I thought maybe if it weren't for his voice or personality, I would be driven away by his looks. However, since drawing him, I've found that I have no qualms about how he looks. In fact, if he is in any picture I have, I finish him first just because I want so badly to see him XD

Despite Garrus being my canon Shep's LI and one of my favourite characters out of the game, I can't believe I haven't joined in on Garrus' thread. I'm so shy.

So, erhhh, hi everyone! :lol:

I haven't really got much to contribute except for Garrus = sexy badass. :B

I... can't actually see Garrus listening to Chicago. I can see myself listening to Chicago.. which I'm doing right now. Because now THE SONG IS IN MY HEAD. :pinched: (what is it with this thread getting old songs stuck in my head!?)

I post this because I looked it up on YouTube... and, uncannily, the link had an ad. And the ad was the teaser trailer to the CGI trailer that's supposed to air tomorrow on TWD. :blink: Which struck me as kinda spooky.

Speaking of music and Garrus, though, I REALLY wish we could listen to the songs from his play list in the Shadow Broker's dossier. I wanna know what the Turian anthem sounds like and the soundtrack songs!

I can't think of this song without the Christmas episode in Elite Beat Agents.

Therefore, Garrus just got involved in something I equate with trying not to sob uncontrollably. XD

To me it's a relationship which requires a fair amount of 'headcanon' to flesh out/understand.... but I happen to have oodles of meandering imaginations in my head, so I'm cool with that. :D

You should see my headcanon. Kiara Shepard trying to let Garrus know that she liked him since ME1, and then Carson Shepard explaining to her that turians don't understand subtlety - if she wants Garrus, she needs to be blunt. Later on, he couldn't stop laughing when he found out that the "blunt" flirtation she came up with was the "reach and flexibility, skip right to the tie-breaker" line. xD Because when Kiara needs to be blunt, she's really blunt.

Welcome to the Garrus thread! It must have been interesting playing ME1 knowing how your Shepard and Garrus would end up, almost like a prequel story to show their relationship's build-up.

I always thought turians were adorable. Like an "aww, how cute, look at its mandibles twitching" kind of adorable. The combination of their awesome fringe, their colony tattoos, the striking colors, and the way their alien faces could make expressions so different but clear to humans made them the best design for an alien species I've ever seen. Also, that voice effect. It's so cool. Amazing job, BioWare.

I'm the same way, I guess. The Garrus thread was the first one I joined, but I still haven't posted much on the Tali thread, and she's one of my favorites. My ME3 squad will be Garrus and Tali from the minute I recruit them both through the rest of my first playthrough. :)

Tali's one of my other favourites, too, I haven't posted there either. I've mainly been posting on Prothy's thread. :P I always took Garrus and Thane everywhere with me in ME 2 and occassionally Tali, Legion or someone else but always, always Garrus. I think in ME 3 he and Prothy will be my main squad mates, and occassionally Tali and possibly Kaidan, as I haven't played ME 1 (no Xbox, old laptop) so I'd like to try him.

So yeah, from start (considering ME 2 my start lol) to end, Garrus will always be by my Shep's side. :lol:

I always find it fascinating to hear how other people have experienced the Mass Effect series, because it's often very different from how I did.

The first footage of Mass Effect I saw was the really old clip of Manshep arguing with Garrus (which didn't even make it into the final game) and while I was intrigued by the weird-looking alien with the incredible voice I wasn't all that interested in the game because a) I didn't have a 360 and B) I thought it was just another generic Space-Marine shoot-'em-up. Once I found out I could play a female, however, I was sold. I sort of fell in love with Garrus throughout ME1 (he and Wrex were my forever squad) and I joined the old forums in order to talk to other like-minded people.

I never in a million years thought that we'd actually get Garrus as an L.I. I mean, he looks like a dinosaur-cat-thing with bug mandibles, not exactly romance-novel material. So I retained a degree of pessimism throughout the whole "Garrus Romance" campaign. But damnnit, we pulled it off. If anything, that makes me love Garrus even more, beause him being an L.I. proves that I and my fellow fans managed to make a difference.

Xbox ME2 was my start, but either way Garrus generally always comes along in my squad when possible, though the Suicide Mission I have him lead both then at end he's back in squad with my fshep...

PC I working on another playthrough, starting with ME1 ... checking out other dialog choices here n there, plus getting screencaps I've missed before...

Off topic:  I've downloaded the ME3 demo recently (not to play it, but to see the new hairstyle options) I'm not sure if I'm the only one bothered (actually, mostly amused should be about right) about the "new" defualt female, red-haired shepard? I mean, I have seen ugly Shepards, but dang, I would not touch that...thing, with a 10 ft pole. I could not laugh any harder when I saw it. The dirty blonde default Shep looked more normal than that.

Btw, I'm a bit disappointed they didn't include the hairstyle with bangs (like my avatar) in the game.

Thanks. This was very helpful. ^_^
Hmm...so I have to bring Jack or Thane for Garrus to catch Shepard? That's kinda difficult for me to choose because, I've made a tradition with my main canon Shepard (Devonna Shep.) to always be team Dextro for the final battle for each game. I did this for ME1, but now for ME2 I'm not sure...do I want to keep up the tradition and have Tali catch Shepard
(btw, Tali is strong for a quarian)
 and have 3 BFF's for the final showdown or have a (sorta) romantic type of scene(s) w/ Garrus + Devonna (and Thane/Jack mostly being useless). :pinched:

~~~
I also found Nihlus during Samara's recruitment mission.
You're not the only one. She looked like a goddamn cartoon character and the lips were especially grotesque. The only thing I liked about her was the hairstyle (which you can't use on custom Sheps unfortunately).
