I know! Bioware is overly fond of the Dead Girlfriend/Wife trope. Nearly all their male love interests have had a woman they loved stuffed in a freezer at some point.

Thanks for the welcome! I agree on Garrus being Shep's BFF first and a LI second, makes it seem more legit. Plus I think it adds to their bond. I can never actually get all of Jacobs conversation options simply because I'm terrified to talk to him, you know 'cuz Femshep acts lke a hussyaround him.

OH, how easily I forget about that...I think the dead girlfriend/wife is Bioware's formula for the dangerous but sympathetic men, Kaidan's experience didn't really wound him to the same degree it did the other four. It instead just made him think and become more wary.

I don't think it's a bad thing for a romance to blossom out of loss, it is however, a more common archetype. Garrus' romance isn't a unique snowflake either, one of your best friends evolve into a lover after some uncertain testing.  It is, atleast in my experience, more uncommon with bioware romances which is why I think it's so nice. Getting out of that box! XD

Yeah, the first ME1 commercial that aired back in 06 was CGI, he was in it! Very awkward though, because Ashley held up her hand at him as if to say "Shhhhhh" and then Garrus just walked away sadly. :/

*laughs* I just literally turned on AMC when the CGI trailer aired. Pretty cool, though shorter than I expected. And, alas, no Garrus. :/ No aliens at all that I saw? Outside of, you know, massive Reaper doom.

Seriously though, I was hoping we'd finally get a CG Garrus. If he'd walked up behind them it would have been perfect. Oh well, I'll console myself with the fact that my favorite female character got some of the spotlight instead of it being all Sheploo again.

I was really hoping for CG garrus but the trailer was still badass. I noticed Shepard just had Ashley next to him so I was expecting a reveal of a third person during the trailer. Like garrus was going to appear and be awesome. Not only as a nod to the original ME1 CG trailer but because when have you ever not had two squaddies by your side?

They are posting the extended cut of the trailer on Tuesday -- though I don't expect a new squaddie will be in it except perhaps a glimpse of Vega? It's very human focused.. which I understand. I hope the release trailer shows a lot more of a mixed cast though. I like the idea of saving the galaxy as a group effort, not just 'humans save the day'.

But that aside, it was definitely fun to watch! And in about two weeks we'll be able to watch all the Garrus we want!

Yeah I would prefer showing a mixed team.  My paragon sheps are all about "working together" and all that motivational hooie plus I've never once had only humans in any of my squads.

Yeah, I think so too. I might even know more about salarians than I do turians (caveat: I haven't read the ME novels or comics). I think part of it is that Liara and Tali have stuff to say about asari and quarians, but Garrus is more of a cultural outcast who's more reticent to talk about his upbringing or where he comes from. That and we haven't seen their homeworld yet. I want to know more lore about turian pop culture, thought I don't know if they'll make room for that kind of world-building with the galactic war storyline going on.

We still haven't even seen turian women, which I'm still annoyed about.

Some interesting little stories on turians throughout the Cerberus Daily News archives, though. Let's play clawball!

Same here. There was a lot of cool insight into the Asari on Ilium and I hope they do the same sort of thing for Palaven. Does anyone know what sort of things Shepard is going to be doing there?

Not sure what you mean by "their weirdness." But I also hope we see more of the Turian culture and traditions. I imagine my FemShep meeting Garrus' parents and learning some of the traditions that way....especially relating to marriage.  I am holding out hope!

I just got done with Legion's loyalty mission and have Shepard break up the fight between Tali and Legion. What I find interesting is how Shepard was close by the room they were in before she had to break it up. I like to think that Shepard was just about finished talking to Garrus about their "alone-time" and Shepard was about to go to her room to prepare to test her "flexibility", but then gets interrupted by Joker which killed the mood. Now she has to wait for another chance to get her alone time with Garrus.

After watching that, it made me regret killing Ashley instead of Kaiden. But I must know if Kaiden becomes interesting in ME3. *sigh*

But that trailer was still awesome.
