meh, felt like posting... 3ds max, actual game models/textures some slight texture customization (fshep; nihlus), possible FANfic peaks.. my fave 3 turians for now, and that is Sovereign... I like reapers almost as much as turians... interestingly.

Imagine how awesome that trailer would've been with Femshep and Ashley fighting side by side...girl power to the extreme!!!!! {smilie} And if Garrus is added to the equation? Well, let's just say the Reapers would run and hide from that trio of badassery {smilie}

It would be awesome if Shep was in danger and then you see Garrus snipe the attacker, Liara assists with singularity, Tali with a grenade and the gathered fleet on the horizon ready to help out...I am getting myself so excited now *dies*
*sigh* sadly this will never happen

Welcome to the Garrus thread, PalAvian! There's always room for more Garrus fans in the club. I'm glad you'll get to play ME1 too. There's a lot of great Garrus moments, and other cool turians too. It's too bad that most PS3 players don't get to enjoy the first game in the series.
Thank you, this really starting to feel like home
You’re not kidding about the abundance of turians in ME1. They’re everywhere, I love it.
Shame that is not the same in ME2

how cute, look at its mandibles twitching" kind of adorable. The
combination of their awesome fringe, their colony tattoos, the striking
colors, and the way their alien faces could make expressions so
different but clear to humans made them the best design for an alien
species I've ever seen. Also, that voice effect. It's so cool. Amazing
job, BioWare.
As for me and my first impression of turians, I can only describe it by giving an analogy; eagles, great white sharks, black panthers, T-rex, some snakes [for example] I wouldn't describe any of them as cute or pretty, they're all animals that are beautiful but with an intense/fierce/menacing component to their looks, the exact opposite of say... a panda bear. That’s my impression of turians.

I would also go for <esthetically pleasing> more then pretty. Turians are specially well proportionned in the game. Compared to let say how the human arms tend to be rendered.
And they can project just as much emotion then the asari or salarian even with a lot less movement in the face.
...and why did you say panda ! Now I have that image of Garrus wearing a panda costume stuck in the head !

It’s a bit like a) coming from the future andstepping into an alternative reality because everything is so different yet familiar.
Maybe that's because I don't mind spoilers that much, but I really enjoyed playing backwards and then in the chronological order again. Knowing there would be a big fight on the Citadel and we would kill a Reaper in the end was so exciting and encouraged me to go on, since Saren and the geth didn't worried me like the collectors, who still scare the hell out of me with all that bioengineering thing.
And I laughed so hard at the comic strips TNT1991 and makalathbonagin posted here!!

Yeah, I second both of these posts. There is something aesthetically pleasing about how Turians look, in a predatorial manner. Throw in personalities, voices, cultural philosophy, etc and it is - to me - the most appealing of the alien races ME offers. I also like what they did with the Quarians, as well as the Elcor, though we see/know little of the latter. Those three are probably my favourite alien races for various reasons.
I have to admit though, when I first played ME1 and saw the mandibles, I sort of cringed away, anxious of some kind of strange Predator moment comming up.

“esthetically pleasing” - oh, absolutely! That’s one of the reasons when Garrus asks about his scars, I can’t never use the line ‘you were always ugly’ when to me he’s anything but.
Male humans tend to look weird in the game, look at Jacob with his long torso and short little legs. That’s why it leaves me starching my head when so many people comment on his great body, he might be buffed but the proportions are all wrong, unlike femshep and females in general, they seem to look alright, well... except Miranda that seems to be carrying inflatable balloons in some places but the physique proportions are roughly still ok.

I don’t mind spoilers either, I just can’t handle curiosity very well... I already spoiled a good deal of ME3, but I’m sure I’m not the only one
About ME1 I can’t give you my full opinion just yet, I’m still in the middle of it. There’s been quite a few of those “aaahhh” moments when something happens that it’s been mentioned on ME2 and I had no idea at the time what it all meant.
The one thing that I finally get; Joker’s comment on Garrus’ stick up his butt. Garrus seems very stiff in ME1. Now that’s just strange! I feel like slapping him at times

I must admit to that one too; the mandibles did look kind of bizarre to me at first specially because they moved instead of being fixed. Now I’m just used to them.

The best analogy for Turian looks that I've ever come across is that they're "Sexy like a Ferrari". Their design is intriguing because of their "otherness" and predatory looks. They look powerful, which makes sense because Bioware designed the Turians to be the species of the main bad guy in ME1.PalAvian wrote...

...and good observations as well. Of course you can’t design the species of your main bad guy for the first game to look something like a hello-kitty now can you?
It’s also a bit like Optimus Prime (following your motor vehicle comparison), I haven’t checked but I suspect there are plenty of fangirls liking him and I wouldn’t think it’s because of his cuddly qualities.

Her is one of my worst thing about femshep: Put her in the sexy black dress from Kasumi's DLC and make her run. Now watch her elbows. They are rounded! Its lke instead of flexing the elbow she curves her arm. Plus it makes her arms look that much longer, like the female dwarf arms in DA:O.
... ok I feel better now

There's also the whole "bad boys are sexy" aspect. We all know that Garrus is a teddy bear on the inside, but all Turians have that dangerous look about them.

I’m pretty sure that’s caused by some of the limitations on the 3D models themselves, there are things that just don’t look right, it’s specially more noticeable on joints on certain positions or movements. On the arm department, I think most girls arms in the game look just way too thin which in turn contributes to making them appear longer than they probably are. They’re literally sticks and it’s kind of freaky.outmane wrote...

The thing that does drive me crazy is on some close up cinematics when you see the rim of the upper eyelids exposed or worse; the eyelashes go inside the lid. Someone needs to explain bioware that lashes go forward slightly curved, they don’t go vertically upwards from the root. (lol)
Since you brought the subject of the black dress up. Am I the only one that hates it? And don’t even get me started on those shoes...

Well there's 'bad for no bloody good reason' idiots and then there are guys who just have a certain air about them. The ability to handle themselves/be dangerous but not the (personally) offensive need to flaunt it at a whim. One is capable and well-earned... the other is just a bully. If that makes sense.
Someone mentioned the buff male types in the game... yeah, now that I read that I realize it's another thing I like about Turians: I've always appreciated lean/lithe/wirey frames in men over buffed up mega muscles.

I'm of two minds about the Little Black Dress. I like that Femshep got her own unique set of clothes for the Kasumi DLC and I also like how she looks slightly awkward while wearing them (she's a soldier, not a fashion model). However, it also emphasizes that Femshep really needs unique animations. There's a difference between "slightly awkward" and "flashing the camera because you sit like a man".PalAvian wrote...
