I always let Sidonis live in Garrus' Loyalty mission. Not because it was the "right thing to do", but because I know that it will bite Garrus in the a** in the future. Li or not, he's Shepards best bud, and it'll probably make Shepard (my shepard, mostly)  feel guilty that she didn't stop him when she had the chance. Besides, Garrus doesn't make a good assassin.
I mean, really Garrus? You plan to kill him in the middle of one of the most crowded places on the Citidal? They have cameras, you know?
If only there was a way to tell him that, or convince him to have Thane help him out at least. He is...you know, "the best assassin in the business".
I've always brought Thane along to give Garrus that hint. And everytime, Thane sits there shaking his head (probably doing a mental facepalm), whispering to himself, "Psh...amateur."

However, I always let him beat up Harkin. =]

And now for a few Garrus screenshots!

I force-cuddled him.

This is golden! Thanks for sharing. <3
And it's going to be a bitter-sweet moment for me, because this is the next (and probably, last) game to see Garrus and Shepard together. :(

I thought so too. "D'awww! Headbumps! :3"

My Shepard's getting a hair cut because I'm not too fond of the ME3 version of her hairstyle. Plus I thought maybe She would do something different since being relieved of duty. She is also a colonist/war hero atoning for Mindior, protecting her friends and allies, and saving everyone she can save. I didn't know that one was so popular because most of the fanfics I've seen are Earth born/sole survivors. She's a paragon who does some renegade things and uses her judgement and instincts. As for the Sidonis mission, at first, she let Garrus shoot him because it seemed like a clear-cut case of betrayal, but then I was a bit let down by the results, so I reloaded and saved him and felt that it was better for Garrus this way..for a paragon pt at least. I started a renegade broshep who will probably let him take the shot. He's a bit of a hothead with little patience and that course of action suits him better than my "golden paragon shepard" as my boyfriend calls her.

Also, I love jealous Garrus. :pinched:

My first playthrough (with Garrus, of course) is Colonist/War Hero. Most of my other Sheps are Colonist/War Hero or Sole Survivor. I like Spacer mainly because I can speak to Hannah Shepard and Earthborn is some what interesting but I always found Colonist to be the most meaningful and interesting. Being a colonist was also unique and appealing to me. Regarding the Sidonis mission, I knew Garrus (at least my idea of him) was better than that. Like Shep said, it just isn't like him. Plus Sidonis turned himself in so it all worked out anyway. Posted Image During that mission I felt so in tune with Shep. I am glad to know I wasn't the only one who felt that way!

I am new to this thread and been following it off and on since it was created. And I figure if I posted on the Kaidan and Liara ones, I most definitely needed to post on the Garrus one. As much as I love Kaidan and Liara, Garrus has and always will have a special place in my heart. Posted Image I was so disappointed when I found out I couldn't romance him in ME1. Though headcanon fixed that, filling in the time during and between ME1 and ME2. His introduction at Dr. Michel's clinic was the start of it all. Just pure awesome-ness. Posted ImagePosted Image

I think Garrus would be a good assassin if he tried, at least for the killing part. He's a great sharpshooter, always able to get the killing shot even in a crowded room. Sometimes his plans might not always be the best (I'm not sure why he chose to kill Sidonis in a crowded part of the Citadel, except for dramatic effect), but then at other times, he's the brilliant strategist who took on three merc teams from Omega with a band of twelve men.

His emotions might get in the way of his better judgement sometimes, and I'm not sure if I could see him being patient enough to watch the same target for three days until the best moment to shoot (rather than making a more risky attempt to shoot faster), so I guess he has some assassin skills but not all. Being a perfect shot? Yes. Patience? Not really, but that's why many of my Shepards would fail at being professional assassins... and at the same time, really respect them.

I still wonder why Thane thought my directionally challenged Shepards were the right choice for following that target during his loyalty mission. I'm sure Garrus could have done it better, if he didn't just shoot the guy in the middle of that crowded room. :P

jellobell wrote...

That's pretty awesome. It's like our Shepards are mirror reflections of each other. They went through the same things but dealt with their trauma in different ways. I just really like the cause and effect of the Colonist/Warhero backstory (couldn't save her family so she always makes sure that her soldiers make it out alive).

It's interesting to see so many Garrusmance Sheps are Colonist/War Heroes! And yeah, I also think it's really cool that mine seems to be a more Renegade mirror image in a group of mostly Paragons. My MainShep turned out especially ruthless towards batarians, and the one who romanced Garrus is only slightly less hateful. After they helped him track down and kill Saleon in ME1, they told Garrus to remember how good that revenge felt, and his conversation leading up to the Sidonis confrontation really fit their Renegade approach. Hearing my Shepards say they would have done the same thing, and Garrus telling them that he "learned from the best", was just perfect.

I'd like to see what's going through Garrus' mind when he sees my Shepards in action. xD They could be giving inspiring speeches one minute, and the next, kicking mercs out of windows.

@k-baggs @jellobell I Agree! But then why was everyone here awhile back all "no NO" when I posted this.. To me it wasn't porn because it didn't show anything.. just like in ME 1 it's just side shots & such.. And it could have the Unique, tasteful, Romance that we all want!

Also... If we do get our much wanted Garrus Luvin, ^_^:blush:How much of a backlash you guys think there'll be..?:?:crying:

Peeps squirmed at you because of that?
Those drawings are awesome, thanks for bringing it up :)

About the possible backlash, I don’t think there will be any. The controversy that was there surrounding the first game and sex with an alien (I think it was) I read about that... I believe it was fake. A promotional gimmick (naughty-naughty Bioware). An excuse to put the name of the game on main stream news, get the hype going, nothing more. In realistic terms there’s far more of a backlash concerning EA policies on DRM for PC versions of the game/s and that one is still ongoing.

Please do make AMVs -- I'm dying for a new one! I'm hoping ME3 will
have luscious cutscenes of Garrus & FemShep that we can use
(*drools*). I don't have any smexy vids (not much to work with in ME2),
but I do also have action, badassery
and obliviousness.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, I think you did great with the scanty material we have to work with. Let me tell you, it’ll be a challenge for me to turn that into something saucy that’s not even there.

“obliviousness” > lol :D

I’ll try to check those later.

the backlash, you know the BSN! We'd have: "how dare they use/not use

Call me Amish if you‘d like... but I think the missionary position has had undeserved bad rep in the last, ooh I don’t know; 100 years? Granted, calling ’missionary'  doesn’t help

The

sure. But tastefully (artfully!) so. Though I agree: I doubt we'll get
anything quite like that in game. And, honestly, I'm perfectly fine with
very mild romance imagery: To me it's the percieved emotion behind the
actions that matters more than seeing it play out. I'd have been
perfectly happy with the 'head bump' if it'd been more lingering/if the
animation had better portrayed the intimacy intended
.

No problems with the headbump scene here either. Ah! But provided that the things leading the final scene were a little more ‘titillating’. More flirting (specially on Garrus’ part), more dialogue for the love of gwad! Something. Oh and the aftermath of the Reapers final mission should had included some form of follow up as well, it’s like the game effectively finishes with the mission (because of the export file I’m guessing).

I thought the headbump scene was perfect. :) I already said this in another thread today, but I much prefer the romance scenes to focus on emotion rather than getting physical. It's implied, and that's enough for me. When scenes show more, I often redirect my attention to the Saren litho conveniently placed near my gaming TV. xD

The one thing I wanted to be improved was Shepard's lines. Why would she ever tell Garrus to stop talking, unless it's a great moment like that trailer where Shep tells Garrus to stop the monologue and help kill things? I wanted Shepard to show the same emotion Garrus did in that scene. After reading the ME3 spoilers though, I'm glad to say that my only problem with the ME2 romance has been fixed for the next game. I'm very happy with their dialogue together.

@ The Sarendoctrinator: I brushed through the leaked romance script only once, because I have a terrible memory and I wanna give myself a chance to forget it so I don’t spoil the game that much.
... but unfortunately, by what I read I must say I’m not a happy bunny, at all.

I’m hoping against hope that the leak is wrong, or that they’ve changed it, or that the animations will include all the things that the words don’t say even though I can’t imagine how since the scenes I’m picturing in my head wouldn’t go at all with any of that dialogue *sigh*

To the earlier posts, my canon playthrough is Earthborn/sole survivor. She's like a reformed bad girl who after being the only one who survived Akuze took on the 'no one gets left behind' attitude. Before that mission she was still struggling to leave her criminal days behind. I would have chosen colonist if not for the fact that I totally picture Bladerunner with a splash of Fith Element in Earthborn. xD Plus I like her as an ex-criminal being buds with Garrus who is and ex-cop.

Yeah, my Shep is an Earthborn/Sole survivor too. I figured she has that same sort of overprotective streak borne from tragedy and Earthborn gives her a bit of a rougher edge. I definitely like the ex-criminal to ex-cop thing too. I don't read fic of any kind so I wasn't really aware it was popular or anything, haha.

It’s extremely hard to explain without giving out some kind of spoiler. But don’t worry, I won’t.

Let’s say you got a story, or a movie. And you got: beginning, middle and end, or: A - B and C.
After reading the script, I felt as if B it’s missing and we jumped straight into C. Not to mention that (at least for me) A was rather lame, so you’re expecting B to fill the potholes of A, but no instead you get C.

I'm desperately hoping some of that makes sense :pinched:

Is A,B, and C referring to ME3 or the series as a whole (ME1->A, ME2->B)? From what I gather you found the flow awkward or unpleasant?

Silly me for not specifying. [doh!] :pinched:
A/B&C, refer specifically to the Romance itself as a story, therefore I’m not including ME1 so much except for background maybe.
And yup, B would fall right after the final mission on ME2.

“awkward or unpleasant?” Neither. To put your mind at ease: there’s zero unpleasantness or awkwardness [< thanks spirits for that last one] ;) at least that didn’t transpire to me when I read it.
Best way to describe it would be: unsatisfying (namely: not fully satisfying)

Awww i feel alone with my Colonist Sole Survivor with all you War Heroes around... why didnt any of you poster girls save my unit!
Just kidding ;)

So... could we say that Garrus is the equivalent of Earthborn (Palavenborn) and Sole Survivor (since Omega) ?

I'd say Garrus is more "space"born/sole survivor based on his home life.

@jellobell: Yeah, that’s what I as talking about, thanks for providing a link.
To clarify; when I said fake, I didn’t mean it as it didn’t happened. I meant it as it was intentionally created as a marketing campaign. Happens all the time with: movies, tv series, books, music albums/artists [etc]. It’s quite common, a form of product placement.

@outmane: Mine is> Infiltrator - Colonist (hurray) :D - can’t remember if it’s sole survivor or not - Ruthless.
Hope that makes you feel less lonely.

@Outmane: You aren't alone! My main Shep is a Colonist/Sole Survivor. It's part of the reason she went with Garrus after Horizon: Holding on to those you love is increadibly important to her. Garrus (and Tali) did. Kaidan didn't. The end. (okay, those are over simplifications, but I'm feeling strangely concise ^^)

And yeah, I'd go with Spacer for Garrus, even if he was born planet-side... Spacer better suits the idea of growing up 'in the system'.

RE: Garrus ME3 Dialogue
: From what I read of the leak, I agree with Sarendoc' that they were succesful this time around with Shep being more affectionate/emotive than they had her in ME2. I really liked that.
I think I understand PalAvian's concerns too, though. Well I liked what I read it did have a disjointed feel to it --> I'm hoping it'll come together more fluidly in the actual game since all we have to go on now is disconnected dialogue splurts and I'm sure the leak is an incomplete script.

That said, I kinda wonder in general is any player who cares a lot about the LI's will be fully satisfied? The main focus of the game is the over all storyarc of the fate of the galaxy and Shep's role in deciding it. I just think there will always be 'more' that people would want in the romance storyarcs. So while I have high hopes and am just in general super-excited about the game... I'm also fully expecting to have to fill in quite a bit with headcanon. Just the nature of the beast.

@Eradyn:
Hahaha, I love that video! I watched it about a week ago for the first time. *happily goes to wach again*

I think that might just be a result of it just being a script (and an incomplete one at that), and not the actual thing. In the final game we're going to have the character models, lighting, blocking, and voice acting. All of that makes a difference.

However I didn't read the script except for one small scene's worth of James Vega and Garrus banter (though that dialogue was very well written and made me laugh).

Oh yeah, agreed: Any concerns I do have are mitigated by realizing it's a leaked, incomplete script.

And that James/Garrus banter was awesome, I really hope that made it to the final game.
