By the way, denizens of the Garrus thread, do you have any particular songs that remind you of Garrus/Shepard? I did this about 10 months or so ago, but there are all these new people around, so I thought I'd do it again (for my own personal edification this time, maintaining the playlist is just too much work).

jellobell, that thread was great!

1. "Nara" by E.S. Posthumus is so beautiful and intense as the song progresses.  To me, that fits Shepard and Garrus.

2. La Roux's "In For The Kill":

3. E.T. by Katy Perry (the lyrics are great)

4. "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence

All those songs are great! <3  A personal favorite of mine (even though it's from *cough* New Moon) is Satellite Heart by Anya Marina
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHnhOPDv1UU&feature=related.  I think the lyrics are very fitting :)

Also, I don't know if anyone remembers the anime Interstella 5555 but the love theme by Daft Punk is really beautiful.

It might not be the right time
I might not be the right one
But there's something about us I want to say
Cause there's something between us anyway

I might not be the right one
It might not be the right time
But there's something about us I've got to do
Some kind of secret I will share with you

I need you more than anything in my life
I want you more than anything in my life
I'll miss you more than anyone in my life
I love you more than anyone in my life

I didn't realize so many people were into Kaidan   I never really liked him as a LI, but I guess now that he's going to be the hot human male LI for both genders his popularity has soared!

Thanks! ^_^

Oh God, the original topic got E.T. stuck in my head for days. The lyrics are strangely appropriate though ("fill me with your poison" anyone?).

Here's one of my own, Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. Not because the lyrics remind me of Shepard and Garrus, but because I listened to it a lot in the weeks before ME2 came out (back when nobody know if Garrus was an LI or not). Now whenever I hear it I think of Garrus. :P

"Undisclosed Desires" by Muse is one of mine as well :3

"Secret Love" on the Buddha Bar tracks is my favorite for Thane/Shep but I like it for Garrus/shep too :3

Well, I did my part and voted for Garrus. :)

I think the numbers on most of these polls are just a result of which character's fans found the poll first. Most Mass Effect players probably don't even vote in the polls at all.

Is it true that custom sheps can't get the cool haircut default femshep gets? I haven't played the demo but I took I quick look on youtube and I REALLY hope that's not all the haircuts she gets Posted Image Some make shepard look like she just came out of jersey shore for goodness sake.

Those might not be all of the hairstyles, because some people have noticed that the codes jump in several numbers from one to the next. I wouldn't be surprised if that particular style is only available on the default though. DA2 was the same way with the hairstyles on both default male and female Hawke.

@Shinobu: That's a great picture of Saren and Nihlus. xD It's nice to see Saren being all playful.

Also... well...

My Shepard doesn't equal me, and I roleplay her completely as her own character. I don't know if that's the same for everyone, but it's how I play my Bioware games. Does she share some of my views? F'sure, but that still doesn't make herme.

I agree. I don't believe there are right or wrong decisions in general, but I believe there are right and wrong decisions for your Shepard specifically. As for the way I play, I can say my Shepard is my alterego, a little too close to a Mary Sue to be honest. I simply can't disconnect her from myself, since I am the the one making the decisions. She may not do exactly what I would do, but she definitely does what I wish I would do.

that reminds me... Im very looking forward to what will happen to my Kaidan romance in ME3. So much unknown about it. But im less puzzled about Garrus because fom what I heard of the leaks Im pretty sure theres gonna be good things there.

Yeah, I also got curious after playing the demo and after reading a tweet from MacWalters where he said he liked the way Kaidan matured and became a good leader in ME3. I never felt ok with the idea that Shepard was romancing a guy who was just a subordinate to her, not an equal, and perhaps this will finally change.B) And when I say equal, I'm not refering to military rank, but to badassery.

As you can see, all the romances I tried in ME cause me some degree of discomfort because they feel wrong to me some way. And you're hearing this from the same girl who saw no problem with the marriage system in Skyrim.

Hey, but you get a homemade meal and 100 coins (just forgot what's the currency in Skyrim) per day while you're outside slaying dragons! Totally worth it! :P

I don't see any of the decisions as exclusively right or wrong either. Like you said, some decisions are wrong for certain Shepards, and those same decisions can be perfect for others.

I don't play any Shepards as myself. All of my Shepards are characters that I created. Some of them might share an opinion with me every now and then, but when you have around 30 planned out, that's bound to happen. :P

On Garrus songs: if I'm just thinking FemShep/Garrus romance songs, I could pick a lot of songs by a lot of people - something by Velvet Underground, Bowie, Queen, Goldfrapp, etc.  But I'd like to hear Garrus SING this.

Oh wow *fans self*. If the Normandy ever has a Karaoke night, Garrus is so singing that.

Here's another one. Ice Cream by Sarah McLachlan. I think she sounds a lot like Shepard while singing this, and I've decided that this is the song that my Shep would sing at Karaoke night.

Funnily enough I've put some thought into this and have come up with five songs. Even better, they're all by Queen.

For me the perfect fit is "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" because it mixes the sweet stuff with some hilariously adorkable moments (Mercury's "I'm gonna get it" line at the end cracks me up every time). But also...

2. The Millionaire Waltz: Maybe a bit on the sappy side but still a great song.

3. Death on Two Legs: The perfect song for a night with a vigilante mandible-plegic

4. White Queen: Listen to the lyrics, needs no explanation.

5. Nevermore: One of the best 90 seconds of music I've ever experienced

@The Sarendoctrinator: It was one that seemed pretty organized, unlike say, the one that I downloaded originally; that was huge I think it contained pretty much the whole game or near enough and that one was impossible to read so I didn't even try.
The other one was a lot shorter, Garrus specific, had the names attached to each line and I believe it was the latest updated version dated sometime in Jan this year.

@PalAvian No worries! I didn't mean to sound sensitive. When jellobell mentioned "action," I was like -- oh, I have some of that! We each have our own likes and dislikes, so it's all good. ;) I haven't read the spoilers but I can hear where you're coming from. Part B can be the most exciting part of a relationship, so I'm a bit sorry if it's been skipped. Is it ok if I think of part B as the bits in DA:O between 50 and 90 approval?

EXACTLY! I'm so glad you get what I was trying to say :)

-

Jumping on the conversation on page 223, my take on Sidonis’ issue. As a personal belief, I don’t like the idea of manipulating people into doing or not doing things. That’s why for example I don’t like to push a decision on the asari with her poetry reciting krogan boyfriend. I just leave her to it. It’s her call not mine. I lose out on the store discount, but hey! that’s the price you pay for doing the right thing.
Garrus is a gown up and he can make his own mind up without me (shep) meddling. I suppose as a friend you’re allowed to question him, but to me it does feel as if shep knows better than him, the right word would be; patronizing. And this goes back again to a dynamic of mentor-apprentice or superior-subordinate which I patently dislike, specially with Garrus since I see him as an equal. And I still view him that way even as I’m playing ME1 (which I hadn’t finish yet, so my opinion might change). So far he seems to be behaving as if he’s his own man and I’m perfectly content with that, my Shep doesn’t need another ‘yes ma’am’ - ‘no ma’am’ bootlicker.
He makes it perfectly clear that killing Sidonis is what he wants, several times, at least 3 if I remember correctly when you ask him ‘are you sure about this’. If he wasn’t sure, he has a mouth and he can tell you or he can ask for your opinion, which he doesn’t.

Thanks you guys now I understand more what you mean  by <Part B> and I agree. The build up of the relationship is one of the most interesting art. Its what makes it stand apart from other romances. If we lok at it on the long run, we could consider ME2 from the middle toward the end and the beginning of ME3  as a big part B. But it also has to be well layered during ME3 to make sense. But since its probably gonna be possible to bring Garrus everywhere, i dont think we wil lack interactions (compared to other romances).

Also PalAvian is nice to see someone who understands the Garrus/Sidonis the same way I do. I always find its such a great issue to discuss. Hopefully there will be something serving the same purpose in ME3. Maybe about helping or not a group of endangered turians ?

I somewhat hope Garrus becomes even less dependent upon Shep in ME3. He's been through a lot and can be his own person now, he doesn't need a teacher or mentor any more. I can accept his decisions; he's more mature than a good deal of the squad members in ME2! If he had gone off and dealt with Sidonis on his own I think I would probably have been fine with that. But as it stands, since he chose to involve me (Shepard), it was not right for me to just stand back and let Sidonis die.

So, we don't agree on everything. That's fine. Garrus is still my favourite character.

Edit: uh oh, top of page. Here have a wonky Garrus! He's been drinking too much.
