Totally normal, in fact, when I heard my dentist to be careful not to ingest some kind of enamel hardener, i smiled devilishly and thought about Garrus <3... it was awkward because my dentist saw my smile .____.

I do this kind of stuff all the time. I'm such a Garrutrooper.

On another note: Yeah I've read through the whole Garrus/Tali romance script; it's really sweet but it kinds of break my soul apart to know it. It will be OK in my male playthrough I suppose... Anyway they better not be doing that sh*t while I'm around and romancing him or my femshep will knock Tali off the ship with a hole in her suit.

Nah, it's only if both are unromanced. ;)

I admire that you’re quite philosophical about it, me on the other hand, for example: am I gonna see a Jacob/Miranda (or whoever) if I haven’t romanced them? (I’m guessing: NO!) So...
Why single these particular two out? I guess for similar reasons that of all the characters they had to disfigure, they have to mutilate Garrus of course. Who else? *roll eyes*

I personally love the fact that a romance can bloom without Shepard being involved. Now was I expecting Garrus and Tali to get together? No. But if played well, why not. They're good friends and they're the only two dextro aliens on the Normandy.

It seems like the two of them get together in a kind of "Well we were just around each other so we might as well." It may just be that in dire situations unlikely people will become lovers with whomever will be there for them (kind of what matriarch Aethyta says to "find comfort in whatever arms will hold you"). I think the BW team also considered that the two were biologically appropriate. I don't concur with their reasoning necessarily, but it's there, regardless.

I like it. The same things that make Shep/Tali or, to some extent, Shep/Garrus are in play.

They're friends -- I HOPE SO, after all the fire they've seen together. They trust each other. They've gotten up to all sorts of hijinks and shootytimes as a duo. Why not?

That being said, Tali's going to have to wait her turn for a bit, until my ThaneShep goes through.

The Garrus/Tali dialogue sounds like it's exactly the same from the leaks.  I still don't like this pairing, especially since it's kind of singled out (what about all the other non-Shepard pairings?)...I think: Garrus was more nervous with Shepard than with Tali from what it sounds like.  Does that mean he would prefer Tali or does that mean he really prefers Shepard because he wanted things to go so right with her?

Yep, this and the endings make me want to cry... :crying:

I think it's kinda unreasonable to expect non-romanced companions to sit around, consumed with unrequited lust for Shepard. Garrus/Tali doesn't strike me as a grand love affair, but something that happens when two people are lonely and under pressure and around each other enough (never mind the fact that they're aliens surrounded by a crew of mostly humans). It makes sense to me, and I find it more palatable than them being alone, knowing it's likely because Shepard's mission and interference has taken them away from their lives.

But, if you can't stand the idea, you also don't have to recruit Tali in ME3 (I've heard conflicting things about Garrus). Problem solved!

ETA: I think he's more nervous with Shepard because there's a level of hero worship there that doesn't happen with Tali, never mind the fact that he considers Shepard his best friend and it's incredibly important to him that he not lose that.

I don't think so. He was a bit younger back then, and he was in a bad place. Everything in his life was in shambles, and suddenly a beacon of hope - and by that I mean Shepard and her dirty talk of course - suddenly appeared. He didn't want to lose that. Hence the nervousness.

In ME3... well I haven't read all the spoilers, but he sounds a lot more confident and focused.

Headcanon, I say. Go for headcanon.

Anywhoo... all the dextro stuff is fine and dandy, but still doesn’t answer my question; why single these two out (and I know I’ll never get an answer to that).
So people out there can ‘headcanon’ (whatever that means) it whichever way they like, but I for one am not impressed.

I get what you're saying, but I'm just not a fan of this pairing; never was, never will be, even though I've been trying to like it :(

I would've preferred Tali hook up with Kaidan or Kal'Reegar.  And Garrus?  Well, I'd like him with Liara or a female Turian.  Heck, even Ashley!  I love the idea of non-Shepard romances but I don't like these two together.  I don't expect everyone to faun after Shepard because I hate that and it's not fair that she or he are the only ones to get some 'action' in game.  It's just the fact that I personally do not like Garrus/Tali.  It will never happen in my playthrough but it's still there and I just don't care for it.  I've been trying to like it, but every time it's brought up I just feel disguted :?  Am I allowed to feel this way?

Because they're loyal to Shepard's mission, they're the only ones, besides Joker, who can be around in all three games and they don't have to conform to Alliance regs the way, say, Vega does (which is probably why he doesn't hook up with anyone in ME3). Factor in the whole alien thing (and even if they're different aliens from different cultures, they're still outsiders on the Normandy and probably feel a shared sense of disconnect because of that), and it makes sense to me that they'd pair off.

@SuranaMage I understand not liking the pairing. I'm coming at this because I've heard from several people who dislike it because OMG Tali is theirs, or Garrus is theirs or they think it undermines their relationships with Shepard. If you just don't like the two of them together, that's cool. It's when people start calling Tali a **** or threatening to kill her because in some iterations of the games she can hook up with Garrus (or vice versa) that I find silly.

Thank you for posting, you’re more or less expressing the same thoughts I have about this, only difference is that I don’t feel like crying I’m more inclined to kick somebody out of the bed instead.

You're allowed to feel whatever way you want to feel.

I do have to ask though out of genuine curiosity: why do you think Ashley and Garrus could be an acceptable pairing?

I hate myself for saying this, but the whole Normandy's fate kind of put doubts in me about this.  If they really are stranded in the middle of nowhere and Shep is either dead or stuck on earth, it seems like they'd eventually hook up anyway.  I was finally ok with him hooking up with Tali in my other romance saves, until I had this thought.  Now i'm epically pissed.

I would probably do that too. lol. :)

And the banter is awesome!

Also, I don't think GarrusxAshley is a realistic pair. I always thought of Ashley as being a tad too pro-human to get involved in a relationship with an alien.

... that idea doesn't bother me that much actually. Probably because I don't plan to recruit her anyway.

Yeah... but after the big stinker he made about not ever considering interspecies ‘relationships’ this feels like a stab in the back. So much for trust, uh!? Good old trusty, reliable Garrus...
It’s all good though, this just piles up on top of the other downers. No biggie, really.

Yeah but like... there's no reason for Tali to like my Shepard. Hell, he didn't even want to take her along but Udina ordered him to in ME1 (yes, that's how it plays out), he didn't help her with her pilgrimage, and he exposed her father's crimes to the Migrant fleet.

After he inevitably sides with the Geth, why would Tali want a single thing to do with anyone involved with Shepard?

I had to fight back the gross Fenrismancer-mad-at-Isabela-like urge to kill off Tali to prevent this sillyness from happening but... meh.
