Does anyone here think it'll be worth it to make a completely unromanced save for ME3 since apparently at least some of the romances are going to have 'multiple entry points'?... I kind of want to do it, I just don't know if the romance will be different enough to warrant the torture of going through all of ME2 and not romancing Garrus.

Ah, I think I'll hold off then. Good, I wasn't looking forward to telling Garrus I just wanted to spar. >_>

I definitely did a no romance PT. I want to see what this "multiple entry point" stuff is all about for myself. I have a feeling bioware will make it worth our while. Maybe Garrus will initiate things this time. HOT.

ME3 will have a comic to select the choices, so if you don't go to play through the whole games, you always can replay ME3 and change those choices.

I agree with everything you've said. This is my concern as well and I'd rather they didn't waste time and resources opening up the relationships to new players (I really don't think they should coddle new players like they do, since I think people who are slightly lost in the plot but still enjoy the game would have even MORE reason to buy the previous installments). I'd rather they go with quality in the romances over variety of choice.Hyrule_Gal wrote...
I don't know how they are going to do it without it being a bit of a clusterfudge. If you can romance everyone anyway without having to previously romance them, that means ME3 will have 9+ romances available at once!! So does that mean Shepard can have love decagons 0_o? Also you run into the problem of either repeating the previous romance subplot OR making the previous plot irrelevant if you DON'T bring up the prior important stuff (so a catch 22)
So if you can romance Gar WITHOUT doing so in ME2 will that mean ANOTHER interspecies "how are we going to do this" theme again? I just don’t want dialogue and script to be wasted on the same themes we’ve heard already I just want them to move on at this point instead of making rehashes. And I ALSO don’t want the ME2 romance to be “skippable” or “irrelevant” and it will seem that way if you can just enter into the deep emotional part of it in ME3 without having to romance him in ME2. Like I said it’s a catch 22.
Honestly I think that if you don’t pick him in the comic or romance him in an ME2 import then there shouldn’t be another starting point, ME3 shouldn’t be an entry point to the series anyway IMO.

Hello Garrus thread!! I've been a longtime unintentional-lurker because I simply can't keep up with you guys (you guys move fast). And I think I need to get into the livestream/skype stuff, because gosh darnit I need to know about those "tables" jokes. I love all the Garrus love around here, because that turian deserves it!!

Ya know....its funny how the title of this thread is "Less Calibrations" and its actually confirmed that Garrus wont be doing much of any calibrations anymore in me3. He's got more free time in other words

However, since it's implied that they're doing that, I'm definitely going to end up trying it just for the sake of seeing how they handle it.

I have no trouble seeing how they could make it work from a writing perspective, my main concern is that the relationship for those who romanced him in ME2 will suffer by adding the option to start a new relationship with him in ME3, either by...Faerlyte wrote...
Well, if they were going to do this, I think that by the time you're well into the third game it is conceivable that Garrus has been through enough with Shepard for the idea of them being together to come to him on his own. The more time you spend around someone just getting to know them, the more potential there is to recognize that, "Hey, you know, I really kind of dig this person."
Realistically, you don't love bodies - you love people. I think that it is more likely Garrus would discover that he loves Shepard before it occurs to think of her in a sexual way, in which case the latter would come more naturally. At that point Garrus might have passed the awkward stage to take on a more, "Let's do this" approach. If you love someone, you love them.
It could be really cool if done right because it would show the evolution of their companionship througout the three games. With each game they grow to depend on each other a little more - you don't go through all the things they have and not build strong bonds.
But that's just me. It'll be interesting to see what they do.
