Welcome Rannin! Yes- we do move fast. In packs around the web actually  Livestream, skype, ...here on bsn. lol
And yes join skype! Thats where A LOT of the garrus inside jokes happen. We really dont discuss that much in depth outside the skype group to keep it hilarious XP Just some time ago, we made a new "pencil" joke. 
You can hear use curse, spazz like CRAZY about Garrus and all other turians.

Ya know....its funny how the title of this thread is "Less Calibrations" and its actually confirmed that Garrus wont be doing much of any calibrations anymore in me3. He's got more free time in other words

Thanks for all the welcomes people!!  I'll be having some free time this week and my bf has a nice area mic so my skype sounds nice, and it would be awesome funtastic to be around people who understand my Garrus obsession.  My bf makes fun of me for being Garrus obsessed.  But it's all cool because he likes Tali so he can't say too much

I'll have to pm ya'll my username because I'm at work and I can't remember my username for the life of me.. 

I'm really, really hoping that Bioware puts out a few high res Garrus wallpapers so that I can plaster him all over my compy.  I think I've seen all the Garrus fanart on Deviant art by now, and Great  to I love Meken's work.

When I read "He's got more free time in other words," I read "free time on his hands" and my mind went somewhere horrible

I have no trouble seeing how they could make it work from a writing perspective, my main concern is that the relationship for those who romanced him in ME2 will suffer by adding the option to start a new relationship with him in ME3, either by...

- Cutting his number of romance lines in order to split it between the two 'versions'
- Wasting dialogue rehashing old themes from the ME2 romance (like him being nervous about their physical differences) because it'll be new to new players
- Or, and this is the worst, having some sort of 'break-up' occur in-between games so that no matter what you did you have to essentially 'start fresh' with him in ME3, just so they don't have to write many differences in the dialogue.

I think starting a relationship in ME3 could potentially be done really well, but as a long time fan obviously I think the priority should be a payoff for those of us that have been around since the first game.

I completely agree that the priority should be us ME veterans!

I've always stayed faithful to Liara until my latest renegade playthrough, where I got with Garrus...I gotta say, they make the cutest and most awkward couple ever! Those smiles! LOL Ah, I love it. I might be turning into a Garrus fangirl...Hm. In my canon playthrough though, he's always going to be my "bro". *Fist pump* Ah yeah, buddy!

PS: I also think Nihlus is the sexiest turian ever. Those green eyes...and the face tattoos...beautiful. **** you Saren for taking this beautiful being away from us.

My predictions and wishes for Garrus in ME3: 

* There's no way Bioware will cater to the veteran fan *more* than to the newcomer. There will definitely be a new entry point for the romance with Garrus and I trust the writers to make it different from the one in ME2. It's been said and dreamed of already: hope he's the one to initiate it this time.

* I think we'll find him involved in the defense of Palaven. He won't be on Earth for the trial. We'll have to go help him in order to recruit him.

* I hope Garrus became a Spectre in the interim. That would make him and Shepard equals. The bit from the Shadow Broker's dossier telling us that Garrus is unlikely to fully develop under Shepard's command was a bitter pill; to see him independent and confident in his own abilities is the only way to make the bitterness go away.

* What if the big choice regarding Garrus is to "let him go" and fulfill his potential, or keep him with you as a LI?

I don't think we know for certain that you'll be able to start the Garrus romance if you didn't in ME2. After all, new players/Shepards may very well simply be able to select the Garrus romance in the comic used to make saves.

He is pretty brotastic, whether he is romanced or not, which I think adds to his popularity. Men like him, women like him, children want to grow up to be like him..heh.

And Nihlus.. oh yeah, he is by far the prettiest of all turians (though Valern and Lorik come close, something about those dark-skinned, light-tattoos types). It still bothers me how much detail was poured into his appearance (and his codex entry actually fleshes him out as well) to only have him.. you know.. not last for more than five minutes of the game. Still not entirely sure why Saren saw the need to get rid of him like that but I guess it was supposed to spur on the dramas early in ME1.

Agree with all these though I hope veteran players will be rewarded somehow for having played all three games with Garrus as opposed to the newcomers. The entry points should definitely be different and reflect how much time player has actually spent with that character though it sounds like a bit of a logistical mess for the writers to deal with.

The last point in particular has been gnawing at me..though I have this hope that because the majority of the fans play ManShep that such a major choice involving the relationship with Garrus would have to be fair to both male and female Shepards. But he has to have an opportunity to reach that full potential at some point and that would involve him basically surpassing Shepard in awesomeness  (according to the dossier) and the odds that any companion in a Bioware game will outshine the protagonist are quite low because RPers like to have all the control over such things.

In my head, the real big dramatic decision involves either perserving Shepard's life or Garrus' but not both.. let us hope the devs don't pull THAT on us.

Hey, new thread!

About the fear of backtracking ME 3 relationships. I’m not really worried that BioWare will do that, especially since they keep talking about having deeper relationships. They’ve proven they’re willing to do the work for content not everyone will see. It would be easy to have different dialogue for those flagged as in a relationship with Garrus than those that aren’t.

That being said, I will be royally annoyed and creeped out if Garrus has relationship amnesia like he did in ME 2.
“I don’t know, Shepard. How would it work?”
“Garrus, we’ve been f*cking for months. How have you forgotten this?”

Ah yes the picture that will melt a thousand hearts, thanks for posting it in the new thread!

I also wanted to do a bit of a shout-out to the newcomers to the thread, I know it seems like we move fast but we really try to read and respond to everything so don't be shy if you want to post something. Everyone is welcome here, so long as they are respectful of what the thread represents. We love meeting new people and though we have our moments of crazy fangurl (and fanboi!)-isms, serious discussions do take place and are encouraged.

Wish I had said this on the first page so others could see it more easily but better late than never! I've yet to meet any Garrus fans that I couldn't have respectful and fun conversations with and look forward to where the ME3 thread takes us.
